[He doesn't take it nearly as well as he promises. He winces, whimpers, hisses, grunts while the needle's brought through his skin, and his eyes water anew. He manages to keep his arm still at least, even if it takes all of his remaining strength to do so. At the end, his teeth are grit as he tries to contain the pain. And he looks at her as if looking at a new person. Something about her smile seems... wrong.]

N-none of this pain... can easily be forgotten by me. [He utters that weakly as he looks back at her. This physical pain, and all of the other pain he's been sustaining since the election began. He goes on with less certainty.]

...This is... my atonement?

[It's the kind of thing he knows he needs now, but he hasn't known where to begin in even obtaining that.]
