( some time in july, nene may have noticed a certain little white-potted tree hanging near the window of classroom 3-E, where the gardening club meets up, followed shortly by a note taped to its pot indicating not to touch. while it looks well cared for enough, it doesn't seem like it belongs to anybody in the club itself.

so, she might be surprised when she passes by the room to find a certain someone taking it down, a glass of water next to him and clearly intended for it. )

Are you busy after this, Hinata-kun?

( voiced casually as amami leans back in his chair, arm slung over the backrest as he's sitting at a kind of diagonal angle. maybe with one foot tucked up under him idk, he's bi he can't sit in chairs properly. what matters is that he's looking over to hinata all expectant, smile on his face as he continues. )

I wanted to ask if you'd lend me a hand with getting some things outside.

( which, it's probably pretty obvious that it's the tent, if hinata's bothered to look out the window at all for the past two weeks or so. )

Oh! Amami-san!

( compared to july, nene surely sounds more lively when she does speak-though perhaps not entirely. she's grown weary, after all. setting the snacks she'd brought for herself down on a desk like she normally does, nene ducks down just long enough to get some of her usual tools out. she has a simple routine at this point- months of trying to survive will do that, she supposes. make snacks, get a drink, check on the flowers. the ones kazuki gave her are also marked with a sign to not touch, but she has a potted strawberry that seems to be thriving, and then the rest of the club's... when the others can't come in, nene is still there. )

I'd been wondering who's that was. Do you need any plant food? We have plenty.

Oh- no, I have time.

[Amami may have already noticed it by now in club, but Hinata's smile comes a little more easily than it had the last time they spoke one on one, feels just a little more true. Not quite all the way okay, but leagues better than he had been.]

It still feels weird being able to go outside again, but I don't mind giving you a hand. [He's looked a little bit, but not close enough to really identify what's there. He might've seen a... blanket?] Are we bringing it inside?

[Hinata...........]

( for a moment, amami seems to start, but with a glance to meet her eyes, he'll relax somewhat. not dissimilar to her, but the survival instinct has him tense — with the realization that he doesn't necessarily need to be though, he offers up a smile to greet her with. )

Yashiro-san.

( and at the mention of the plant food, he'll glance back to his tree. hmm... )

Not sure, actually. I was thinking about it, but I'm not too familiar with how you're supposed to take care of plants. Oh, and sorry about borrowing some of your club's sunlight, by the way. Hope you don't mind too much.

( blankets have definitely been down there too, so that's fair, but amami looks a little... what's that word? it's somewhere between looking apologetic and confused, but listen. )

The opposite, actually. Since most of the staff and students are gone, I thought it should be fine to bring the tent back out now.

( since having that set up in the courtyard through the afternoon when classes are still running doesn't sound like the best of ideas, so this poor fool has been lugging the whole thing up and down the stairs every day that he's set it up so far now. )

It can come in liquid form, or a meal that you mix into the dirt- the liquid has to be given more often, it's like a green water? Annnd the meal is every couple of weeks. In most cases I'd have you mix in the meal before planting something, but... well.

( is tree. is tree with roots already spread. )

It's still workable though, if you want to give it a try? You're okay though- we've got plenty of space! E-even if some of these are actually kinda tall... ( mr gardener giving her tallass toxic flowers....... ) I don't think I've seen a tree like that before. But it's got a nice feeling to it, I think.

A nice feeling, huh? I'm pretty sure it's called a banyan tree — they're supposed to be lucky.

( so maybe she's just got a good luck radar or something. amami doesn't have any reason to think otherwise, so in any case, he'll give the options he's been given some thought. )

But we can give the liquid kind a try then. We'll see how it likes it.

( he says, like the tree can talk :) listen... )

( they might. its just that he can't hear it. nene might though, she's dealt with a talking tree before. )

Yeah! It's got good vibes, I guess...? I mean, more than usual. All plants are good.

( ... she glances at the wisteria tree. looks away. anyways.

with a smile and a nod, nene ducks back into the tool box and holds up a vial of green liquid. the vial itself is shaped like a dropper. the plant juice... )

Add-kun made this! He got really grumpy about it but I don't think he actually minded...? I think he's just super prickly. Anyways, you'll want to bury the end of this into the soil, and it'll drain out slowly to feed the tree!

( he follows her gaze to the wisteria and away again, but allows whatever thoughts seem to have passed her mind to go. )

Add-kun did, huh? I don't think we've met, but it seems useful to have someone with skills like that around.

( not sure what goes into making plant food, but amami probably couldn't do it.

speaking of which, he'll accept it when she holds it out, but he looks kind of uncertain about it. he'd been thinking of the stuff, you know, where you mix it with the water when you're watering it. but then again, he doesn't really know add so well — for better or for worse, it probably wouldn't be completely fair not to at least give it a try. so with that in mind, amami will settle it into the soil that his little tree has made its home in. )

Got it, I guess we can give it a shot. You're pretty good with plants aren't you, Yashiro-san?

He's... ( she knows she just described him as prickly, but. ) He's a lot. He's really bad at handling his emotions? But he's really smart and even if he complains a lot for things, he's helped every time I've asked for it. Senku-kun too, but he's much nicer about things.

( nene blinks as she stands up again, before pulling one particular pot over to point to a similar dropper, about a quarter empty, in it- her strawberries. that's what he was uncertain about, right? )

It'll mix with the water as time passes, but this helps get the nutrients right to the roots... Oh, um. I'm in the gardening club back home... I'm not the club president there, though. My friend Aoi-chan is usually the one who tends to the potted plants, and I'd work the plot of land our school gave us- the other girls weren't good at working the soil. But, it's a lot of fun!

( nodding along at the add commentary, but not adding (haha) on to it. he doesn't really know the guy, so it's not his place to comment on what kind of person he is, but he'll catalogue this information away for later. it's a tentatively positive first impression on add and senku's behalves, thanks to her.

as for the plants, he seems pretty attentive to her gardening club feats. )

A plot of land? That's pretty impressive — it's not a surprise that the others weren't fans, that kind of hard work isn't for everybody. Still, it can be trickier growing things together like that, so it's no wonder you ended up being president here.

And I don't think this one has to worry about reaching its roots, ( aerial roots and all, ) but I get the idea. If it's good for it, then it'll stay — you don't mind if I ask for more when it runs empty, do you?

Guess it's better late than never.

( the student store... it's open. at long last. and you know what, guess who has two thumbs and some cash tucked away from that time he helped komaeda fight off the other students to collect it off the ground in the locker area? this guy! actually, at a time like this, he's pretty glad that he held onto that, because it looks like this place takes cash at a better rate than merit points, that's for sure. amami takes a glance around as he steps inside, and already he's eyeing those spare uniforms (and the sweaters, which are always cuter than jackets). it doesn't take long for him to look back to the one beside him though. )

What do you think, Komaeda-kun? It's a shame we can't buy food, but I'm sure there's something useful to find.

That's true...

( having it open so late, but they're given a wide array of items to choose from, even some things he's never seen — or perhaps he's never paid attention to. part of him wonders if he'll be able to find the cat treats so that he can restock, it's probably a limited item, but it still makes him curious. actually, it's the first thing he wants to check outside of searching for clothes, but that's because he has no need for it. )

It'd be nice if they offered soap, shampoo... basic living necessities.

( or do they? he hasn't looked around so he doesn't know, but his eyes scan the area closest to him to see a few jackets on display. none of them catered like his own, but they have a more normal feel to them, and he even reaches out his hand to pinch at the fabric to see what it feels like. another rub of his thumb along the sleeve, and he finds that the material is soft... enough to keep someone warm, but it's summer so it's probably a bad choice. he pulls his arm away, slipping his hands into his pocket as he looks towards the ultimate like a dog waiting for their answers, he'll proceed depending on what's said. )

Yeah, guess it's a bit too much to ask that they make some Yogen brand shampoo.

( or have clothes that aren't plain black, grey, or white with the same freak-ass bird on them. they'd make a killer profit this year if they did. )

Beggars can't be choosers though. I'm just grateful if I can have more than three sets of clothes.

( pour one out for that pair of pants saihara bled all over, because god knows those are never gonna come clean.

anyway, he'll be making his way absently through the racks of sweaters and displays with jackets and tracksuits lined up on them. there's probably some odds and ends here too — school stores usually have, like, water bottles and pencil cases, coffee mugs, but nothing substantial or useful. nevertheless, here he is, holding up a sweater over his chest to check the size before he folds it over his arm, grabbing three more of the same to go with it. glances to komaeda to see if he'll grab anything for himself. )

( anything to keep them clean, which has been a thought on komaeda's mind since he's had the itch to clean — anything, something, he just wants to tidy. between reading in the library and going to his classes, he has realizes the last time he properly managed to clean something was when he murdered aiko. that took a whole lot of items, and maybe he wants that too so that he has something to do when obviously ignored.

unfortunately, he takes a few steps away from amami to search for the items he needs, but stops once he notices a rack filled with shirts. he doesn't need them, per se, but he notices a few are styled with rips, which reminds him of how hinata (god bless his soul if he's even making it) had been torn along his waist, and in his shoulder. with a hand raised and index finger bent, he lightly taps his bottom lip in thought as he stares down at what he's able to look through. with his mechanical hand, it whirrs softly as he looks through — there's a variety of colors, styles, and some that he doesn't even like — expensive taste.

oh, but that's what makes them special, he guesses. for the... cheaper people, though hinata isn't broke, but he probably doesn't use his wealth to choose his clothes. passing up those, he looks for the attire that tends to have ties attached, and maybe with a certain pattern even if ugly. he'll pick up one, touching the fabric to see if he likes it, and then holds it out to look it over in thought. )

...Maybe one that has a pocket too.

( and so he pushes through in search of one with a breast pocket, but he isn't too fond of the material used, or he doesn't like the position or the color. )

( listen, they're both looking at shirts so they can't be that far from one another, right? listening to komaeda mumble to himself for a moment, amami will glance at the shirt that's being held up to the light, then back to the rack in front of him. it takes a little bit of flipping through, but a few moments later, he'll hold one out for komaeda to see. )

Amazing! You must be a mind reader, perhaps that's your Ultimate talent.

( he says this genuinely, actually relieved for anything an ultimate is willing to give him, but is hinata worthy of such a... kind gesture? of course, no matter how komaeda looks at it, he's... just a husk of what he used to be, but after some times... he can be the god that he's meant to be, someone blooming with talent. he can't do that when he lacks clothes, so komaeda takes the outfit to look it over. yes, grateful before even looking. )

Do you like ties too, Amami-kun... makes a person appear to be a workaholic, if you ask me.

( as he says that, he's undoing the tie from the one fit he chose so he can put it on the one that amami had picked out, and it almost appears to be the ideal shirt that he was looking for. ) What do you think?

( at least senku will maintain the positive impression, probably. nene just... doesn't go on the network often, she sees people acting up and she politely puts her PDA away and doesn't mention it. doesn't matter who. )

Mhm, we had lots of vegetables growing! And we got to keep them. Everything tastes great when you use things you grew yourself!

( cooking, sewing, gardening. that's the things she taught herself, and on some level they all feed into each other and into what nene wants most: to love and be loved. what says 'i care for you' more than a meal, mending a shirt without being asked, having a fresh carrot or cucumber together? so, she's always happy to talk about this sort of thing honestly. )

O-oh-, right... No, I don't mind. I'll keep note of how many are being used and let Add-kun know, he'll want to be sure he's able to make more in time.

( sounds to amami more like she'll want him to know than add-kun himself if he's kicking up a fuss, but who knows. maybe his tsun level is just higher than amami is predicting right now? in any case, it's nice to see how excited nene looks on these topics, beaming as he nods along to her comments on the fruits (and vegetables) of her hard work. )

Looks like a school-brand tie to me. I'm not too big on them myself, but I guess there's nothing wrong with staying simple.

( it doesn't matter, it's the perfect outfit for him which he's going to take, and it's the only one he thinks of for hinata anyway. will he say that's who it's for? no, but he's grateful for amami's opinion either way. )

I don't know if I'd call any of it interesting, but I did find a couple things to wear.

( he's more concerned with being able to have access to more than four outfits... bro that's not even enough to get him through a school week!! though, what he has is also better than what's in his locker now, so even if it's less than ideal, amami's not complaining about it either. he'll stretch out his arm so komaeda can get a better look at the sweaters, all the same shades of black and bearing the same freaky bird emblem of the school on them. )
