[ Is normal not synonymous to boring? They would have thought so, but they don't have the best baseline to be able to tell. All they have to go off of is books and movies where little kids have both parents and dog and maybe a horse and it's always sunny and bright and warm because nobody writes children books with little cabins in a desolate forest in the wintertime as a setting. ]
