The merit point system has no bearing on the outside world, only as an incentive by the school.

[ Like how the charity auction functioned, rewarding good students with items and services they can buy, and encouraging poorer students to work harder so they can better enjoy the auction the next year.

The exchange only works an entity— school or person— with a lot of money and need for points, and they are not that person. ]

I'm not a student. I'll take merit points, but I can't use them directly. I can only use them for the sake of somebody else.
