i. home economics 

( most days these days you may find the smell of something cooking wafting through the second floor- though with summer vacation starting soon- or perhaps it already has- it might be more rare. but for once, lucifer or one of the others hasn't beaten nene to the punch. she does not touch any meat that isn't fish or beef, she is careful with the vegetables she takes, and she does not make single portions. if you poke your head in, if you've been here from the start, it might feel familiar, the way she looks up and tries to smile. )

Are you hungry? Come have a seat. 

ii. crafts

( there's new 'transfers' again. people who can't leave, who are stuck with two sets of memories. and nene hasn't met a lot of them personally, but she's seen them around or on the network... even if she really, really, really wishes she hadn't. but...

one may find nene in the second portion of the home ec rooms, sitting down and diligently working needle, thread and cloth together. if she isn't too focused, she might stop to smile and ask, )

Hi! Did you need something? 

( or she might not notice you entirely. )

iii. after club meetings 

( for all that she's never been in the role before, nene seems to be managing well enough as the gardening club president- even if one of her vice presidents withdrew from everyone. ... not that she'd made it especially official, she relied on natsume and lucifer both. ... she'll need to stand on her own someday, won't she? so... 

... she stays behind later than most other members a lot. sometimes it's to tend to the plants belonging to those who- who vanished. sometimes its to keep an eye on the flowers that had been given to her by the gardener. sometimes she just needs to be with something living and kind, away from the stress of everything. maybe you catch her closing the door behind her as she finally leaves for the day, or maybe you see her half-slumped against a desk, watching the clouds in the window. such is the way it goes.

maybe you'll even notice she's tying her hair back in pigtails more often. )

[ Shinobu’s starting to see parts of herself in Nene. Not the good ones, either. She sees a girl devoted to her work, devoted to her friends. She sees a girl devoted to everyone but herself. If there’s anything Shinobu’s learned, it’s that one of those things will eventually give way and break—and if Nene’s work and friends are okay, then…

That’s not something she wants to think about. She breathes out hard, like she’s getting the thought out of her system, then puts on her best smile. ]

[Shin has started demonstrating a tendency to show up in overlap; arriving at the tail end of meetings just as everyone's starting to filter out. Most people are probably just looking after their plants and not being especially rowdy about it, but baby steps.]

[Speaking of baby steps, Shin's not the greatest on picking up why people are upset, let alone knowing what to do about it, but it's hard not to notice that she's being everywhere at once right now, and just... existing, in the same space, has been relatively easy.]

Hey, Nene... You've been working hard lately, huh. Aren't you a little tired? [How the energetic people (Senku, Sara) manage to do Everything, All The Time is a mystery to him.] You're just gonna end up wrecking the plants if you collapse on them.

[subaru's taken to peeking into different places to see if any more coins will turn up (hint: they have not, and he's starting to think they don't have a "respawn" counter), and it seems like

is a little too into whatever she's doing to realize someone's looking in.

subaru is not normally a quiet person, but he can be quiet; he grins widely and steps with an abnormal softness for someone who's so loud, sneaking up behind nene and putting his hands over her eyes.]

( it's an quietly unsettling day, when she realizes she hasn't seen hajun- who's in her home room, so she's bound to have interacted with him at some point every day- or sou- who's been quietly hanging around more and more- in a couple days now. and the moment the realization settles in, a pit weighs heavily in her stomach and one might see nene racing around the building, checking almost every classroom with the same question- )

Have you seen Hajun-nii or Hiyori-san?!

( and when the answer is inevitably no, she eventually runs off to continue her desperate, futile search until she's back in class 1-b, hands in her hair as her breathing increases to a more rapid pace- one might hear her muttering something about 'not again, not again, not hajun-nii--'... she's. kind of going through it.

throughout the week, dark circles under red eyes- both in color and otherwise- grow darker. it's a bad time for nene yashiro... especially when, after the twenty third, she realizes hinata and natsume are gone now, and curling up somewhere quiet and hard to find is more and more and more appealing. that way no one can see how she's shaking, how she's struggling to breathe or how her voice hitches with tears. )

closed: amami and rika, mid-late july

( it's not often hard to find amami and rika- they have their clubroom, after all, and they sleep there. so... eventually, they'll turn up, won't they? so here's nene, with a... totebag? stuffed full of something.

she's given them both blankets already, though the summer may have rendered them unusable. but after everything the past few months... she needed something to do. and rika needs to know: she still cares. )
