As she looked around, she came across another person checking through the books. Someone else looking for a key? Except when she drew near, she noticed that this other girl was actually reading through them. Hm.
Haruhi opened her mouth to check her progress, but nothing came out when she tried to speak. The eerie silence was bothering her enough, but being unable to produce any noise was just plain creepy.
So, at the very least, she could wave a bit to try to get Himeko's attention. ]
