[In video games the shopkeeper is always invincible, being unable to be hurt at all, or to kick your ass. That's definitely not the case in real life, even in Yogen, but the role, the table itself... maybe there is that element of defense to it.
Shin definitely is scared of him... there Komaeda goes, rubbing it in. Urk, don't remind him of the puzzles either. That said... everything on the table is something Shin picked out for his own consumption, some on Sportacus's advice, it's all roughly of an equal value to him plus or minus the cans of soup and the more healthy things.
So since it doesn't matter so much what Komaeda picks even with his strange luck... Shin doesn't really have much to lose and, apparently, 500 yen to gain. He'll just take that...]
