MARCH EVENT LOG

At midnight on March 1st, a rolling lightning storm hits Yogen. Thunder crackles, and strikes of Anvil Crawler lighting can be seen lighting up the sky; anyone paying attention to the courtyard may see the explosive strike of lightning hitting the wisteria tree. Petals scatter throughout the air and are carried off in every direction by the wind...

As the month goes on the school will start to look even more barren. As the month goes on, several students start to disappear, with rumors spreading here and there about students disappearing after entering the forest. Those rumors twist and warp, and within just a few days there are rumors of a witch in the forest. But it's not a witch, nor a ghost, or anything else, but a dream, and those who enter will find themselves reminded of such by a soothing voice, the voice of a person they're familiar with, speaking gently in their ears:

"You are dreaming... They have always led and will always lead you here... Remind yourself, this is a dream..."

The world shifts subtly. There are gravestones marking the pathway now, and before long the forest is replaced by a completely new scene. A voice reminds you once more that this is a dream, and that you have always been here. You have always been led to this place. But where is this place? It's the world of a player character. It's nothing more than a snapshot in time. It might be one that they wish to escape, or perhaps a warm memory of a time that they wish to return to, but it is always an important memory to the character.

Whichever it is, the only way is to move forward. As characters move through the memory, characters will soon notice a snake and holly tattoo that spreads over their body will be. It starts small, a clump on one's back, but will spread across all parts of a character's body. It will reach the neck and face last, killing them upon reaching the eyes. As the curse spreads, they will notice changes in the dream including hallucinations, hearing lullabies, and shades that pursue them. They will also notice increased exhaustion and lethargy.

Upon reaching the end of the memory, they will find a glowing ball of light representative of a lost student's soul. Finding the soul will lead to both characters awakening at the edge of the forest, and the character who had been dreaming will be covered with the tattoo for a brief moment before it disappears.

Those who entered the dream may hear that same voice from before that tugs at their mind as the dream fades away:

"Remind yourself, this is a dream, and soon you will awaken. But you are here, as you always have been, and as you always will be... Soon, you will wonder where you were, and each moment after, will bring you here..."
✽ Dreams may be whoelsale memories, or they may be more akin to dreamscapes based on a person's memories or mental state.
✽ The holly pattern represents the pain of love and aches of the heart, while the snake represents the yearning for the dead that consume a person.
✽ The tattoos will be blue or red.
✽ Characters may be drawn into the forest more than once, or require multiple memories to be gone through before reappearing. In those cases, the character who had gone through the initial memory will simply wake up in the forest alone.
✽ Characters who hear the voice upon leaving the dream will be more susceptible to entering and being lost in the forest.
✽ Anyone who is not rescued by the end of the month will be found at the edge of the forest. The tattoo will cover their body and stop just short of their eyes. It will disappear within an hour, but they will be exhausted for the rest of the day.

He recoils a little when she gets closer, instinctively holding the tablet up like a protective shield. The hand... looks real. Part of him wants to touch it, and she can probably tell, but he also seems too anxious to try.

What would it mean, for someone else to be in this place? Or would he just have to be that insane to believe it?

... although, she called him Add...

"Are you... Dynamo?"

There's the tiniest, most strained bit of hope in his voice—everything about this already seems impossible, so is it really so wrong to wish for one more impossible thing?

The smallest hitch, the smallest hesitation as she processes that, before giving him what she hopes is a gentle smile.

"And what if I am?" For what is she, anyway? She feels different from how she did when she first entered this library, however long ago that was. She feels different from distant past memories in other places too. If he recognizes her, and puts a name to her... well, she doesn't mind helping him out however she can.

"What can I do for you, Add-san?"

He stares for a long time, studying her (strangely familiar?) face, thinking... what if this is Dynamo? If she's not a hallucination... surely there must be some logical explanation.

Cautiously, he reaches out from behind his tablet-shield... and after one last moment of hesitation, pokes her roughly on the side of her hand.

...

She's solid alright. He frowns, muttering under his breath.

"... too solid to be a hologram. Also... if it were Dynamo, it'd be more annoying..."

The gears are turning now, at least, and he slowly rises from his seat on the floor, dusting himself off once he's standing in front of her properly. He's still trying to maintain an arm's length of distance between them... but he doesn't look terrified anymore, so that's a step up. He tucks his tablet under one arm, the other hand finding it's way to his chin.

"Was there a second administrative Nasod here all along? This design looks way more advanced than a simple dynamo, it's just like a human..." Is it rude to poke her again? Whatever, he's doing it anyway. "Hmm, maybe... something got damaged in the collapse, and it didn't release properly...? There were some storage hatches I couldn't get open, so it's not impossible."

He nods along with his own explanation, deciding that yeah, this is what he's going with. Obviously Nanami is the secret back-up admin Nasod he never knew about until now. Why else would she randomly appear and know to call him Add?

"Right. Well, calling you 'Dynamo' would be too confusing, so... let's go with the name 'Dynamo MK2'."

There's a little flicker of... something. Acknowledgement? Dynamo MK2 feels like it fits in a nice way, and she nods.

"You got it, Add-kun! I have access to all the library's resources." She does, she finds as she says it, something else in the back of her mind opening up - it's like she feels... a vast repository that she can access at any second. Knowledge that she peeks at, some of which she recognizes from the tablets she read on the way in, some of which is new. She blinks as she processes everything, and then nods again.

"So I'm here to help you with whatever you're working on!" Maybe if she does that, she can help him finish faster? And then they can get out of here, to... hmm. Somewhere, probably. "Let's find this world's hope, together!"

He smiles back at her, a shy earnestness showing through... it's unlike him, but it's been so, so long since he's had anyone to talk to. Besides, she's just one of the library admins, right? So there's no reason why he should hide his emotions. It's just a machine, he can handle machines.

Add chuckles excitedly under his breath, bending down to quickly snatch up some more of the tablet-books. He babbles as he piles them up in his arms.

"Long-ranged Nasod weaponry! I was reviewing particle acceleration... kuku, if I can use that technique to create a gravity bomb I could take out a dozen guys at once, no problem! It's way more effective than short-range particle generation, but it uses a lot of energy—ah, but I'll need to run some more simulations too. There isn't enough room for proper weapons testing in here, so maybe you could check my calculations for errors? Though maybe I should check you for errors first. I don't see any external damage, but if you've been in hibernation for this long there must be a reason for it. Dynamo activated immediately when I first arrived here... ooh, wait, wait, you're the backup admin or another assistant, right? Are there any blueprints on file for Dynamo—I mean, the primary admin Nasod? The round one that looks like a cat. Is there a repair document? There has to be one somewhere, right?"

... even a real robot would struggle to keep up with this, but at least his mood seems much brighter.

She listens to all of what he says, and thankfully, he only actually has one explicit request right at the end of it. She files away the rest of what he said for later reference, and focuses on the first thing.

"There is a document like that! I'll go get it." Of course she could recite the entire thing from memory, but it's probably easier for him to interface with it directly... she hurries over to one of the shelves, five rows down, 268 volumes in on the left side - removes the tablet from its shelf, and hurries back.

"Here you are." She presents it to him. And then, because she might as well, she addresses the rest of what he said.

"I'm running simulations for the energy output of a long-ranged gravity bomb and the tools necessary to require it, and uploading it to your main tablet. My systems are running at 99% efficiency and do not require any maintenance! And as for my reason for being here..."

She falters for a moment, grasping for it, but then plows on. "What matters is that I am! And I'm here to help. Do you have any other queries?"
