03/20 08:00 Graduation Day
The sky is clear and bright early Sunday morning, a reprieve from the storms that left the charred and battered wisteria tree blooming with dewdrops in place of the petals stripped away by the bolt of lightning that had struck it early in the month, the torrent of rain coming and going in waves thereafter. There is a calmness in the air, a stillness, but sweet birdsong rings out, as does the chatter of students pouring through the doors towards the auditorium, seats separated into three sections rather than the usual fifteen, the empty space around them vast and unending compared to the three hundred souls that occupied the school one year ago on this day.
Attendance is not mandatory, but the doors close on the hour and whichever seat is taken amongst their given grade level, students find that they are unable to get up again once seated, bound with just enough freedom to shuffle one's feet to keep from falling asleep during the droning speeches, or to pull one's PDA out of their pocket to message a friend halfway across the room. Unlocking the screen, students will see the usual homepage bearing their name, student ID number, locker number and combination, grade level, and, with class rankings reset, updated merit points to be used the next school year: first year students will see their merit points increased by 363, second year students by 181, and third years by 214. At the bottom right corner of the screen is a new icon with a symbol unique to grade level, which, upon being tapped, brings up a message on a new screen:

The cursor blinks at the bottom, awaiting input as the school nurse steps up to the podium to address the graduating class, speaking of the struggles they have overcome, the insights they have gained, friendships forged, and growth in strides.
"...and now, let us congratulate the graduating class," the nurse says, stepping back from the podium. Are you ready? You will graduate when the time is right, and you will know when that time as come. One by one, third year students rise from their seats, steely determination and grim acceptance on their faces as they walk single file onto the stage to stand in front of the podium where they bow, and rise, and stand as the nurse pins a bright red ribbon to their chests, presses a rolled up diploma into their hands, and speaks her personal congratulations too softly for the microphone to catch, but audible to the front row of third year students left behind to repeat:
"Congratulations, Seamster..." "Congratulations, Dreamer..." "Congratulations, Arsonist..."
Akira Fujioka, Narumi Ito, and Rokuro Arata turn to the audience and bow. As they raise their heads, the air in the auditorium seems to shimmer, then splinter, like broken glass, thin cracks of crimson unraveling from around people's throats and hands and dissolving into nothingness like spider silk in a breeze. The graduating class of 2000 numbers three students. That's three times as many as last year. And all three exit the room, never to be seen again.

03/21 - 04/03 Spring Break
The school is quiet. None of the npc students or faculty remain in the school. Supplies in home economics, the dormitory kitchen, and the student store dwindle without replenishment, although the vending machines greet each new day fully stocked. Books can be taken from the library and kept without penalty, fingernails left untouched. The skinny black cat continues to make itself scarce, but in the quiet hours of the evening, can be found on top of the tall bookshelves in the library. All throughout the school, the fluffy white cat rubs against people's ankles, flopping down on the ground in front of anybody who makes the mistake of standing still for more than two seconds.
The water still runs pink.

✽ Hi, this is Ori. I want to, once again, express my most heartfelt THANK YOU!!!! to everybody who's stuck with me and this game for any length of time this past year. It was a wonderful experience and I met so many wonderful people and I think both my cats greatly enjoyed being minor celebrities and/or the voice of god.
✽ For the time being, I will be stepping down from modding and am leaving y'all in Alice's and Bunny's very capable hands while I take a rp break for an undetermined amount of time. Of the NPCs I play, the following will be officially retired: Rokuro (graduated), Akira (graduated), Narumi (graduated), Haruka (moved on), Maya (dead), Hiro (dead), Kouji (lost in the void), Nao (side quest dead end), Hikaru (side quest completion, also they really only cared about Lucifer who is autopiloting), Akeru (was only supposed to exist for one thread), and Luka (was only supposed to exist for one thread).

To have proper closure--her primary want is to ascertain that she is "herself" and not like, some sort of duplicate that was created after the fact; she also wants to know the truth behind what happened regarding what happened to her (basically 1) how she died to begin with, as she doesn't recall and 2) how she died while she was in the school). This also includes any of the memories that she might be missing, too. She also wants to know why the school ended up being this way as part of her 'closure'--why did the school start encouraging death in the first place? Why is this afterlife a school? Why are they transfers, if everyone is just supposedly 'dead'? Why are they even here, specifically? She wants those answers before she can ever be ready to make any sort of decision.
But when it comes to the actual question--the one posed on the PDAs?
She doesn't type anything in. Not a 'yes' or a 'no'. Even if in her heart, she knows she isn't ready just yet.

In other words:
'I don't want history to repeat.'
He doesn't want what happened to him to happen to anyone else. He doesn't want what happened to Kanna in turn to happen to anyone else. He doesn't want these things to have happened at all, in the same way he wishes he could have done something about Helena's already done-with experiences with having been manipulated and used, the way he regrets with 20/20 hindsight his own moves, in the death game but also in Yogen.
He can't graduate while the people he's made bonds with and care about are stuck in the same place as Midori in a practical sense, but also it goes deeper than that because it's about his trauma in general, and his recognition of it's echoes elsewhere, and his grappling with the concept of what responsibility should and could be and mean. He wants a world where the strong didn't use the weak, where trust wasn't taken advantage of... or at least where defense, rescue or escape could have happened against the attempt. He's seen just enough to know it's possible, even if how to get there is trickier.
Even if his sense of being able to do anything himself to help has taken a heavy hit, and he's been wrestling with the idea of leaving... this is about what his heart wishes, achievability or no, and what is behind him ultimately staring down for a long time at the PDA and typing out 'No'.

Wish: When he was first told to open his eyes, it sound... silly because his eyes were always open, but that is still true today. He wants his fellow peers to keep their eyes open, take in a bit more of their surroundings, and admonish anything that stands in their way, obscuring their hope. If they can understand that bad isn't always just bad, that it's good as well, that a bit of despair can lead to a hopeful future— as long as they don't give up, as long as they can keep each other motivated, and progress together... then whatever negative possibility that happens can be overcome by their actions. That's the type of hope he wants to see from everyone.
To himself he wants to work with them compared to just standing and watching them all, he wants to try to... join their hope, be part, find a place even if it's terrifying for him.

Her wish is twofold - that for herself, she wishes she had held more strength, to be able to raise her voice when it was needed, to potentially avoid all the pain that came - and even if it can't be averted, then at least to know she was braver. The second part is for others, that someone could have shown them the compassion they needed or longed for, that they might not feel alone or without anyone's care.
