[ The tiles that take up the center half of the room are large enough to step on comfortably while still leaving space on all sides, perhaps the size of a large safety step, and as the pair continues along to the other side they'll find that some of the steps depress as they step on them. There's no sound or indication that this does anything at all, but it might be a bit distracting to suddenly feel one's foot sinking into the floor before they lift it to take the next step.

A closer inspection will reveal that there are three holes that a winding key might be stuck in. Looking down, it does seem that it hasn't been wound in some time, as all three weights have sunk to the bottom.
