( it takes little time for him to figure out the idea — that he can't leave. what's really strange about it is that... others can? there's a distinct lack of physical barriers preventing him, but even so, it's as if the world itself is engineered to trap him here. it is... something that he makes note of, but after some time spent checking his options, it's also something he sincerely doubts will be easily solved. more importantly, what he notices is that there are some students who just... don't go home. as if they aren't concerned with even trying to leave, even as the building begins to empty out for the evening.b) find my way
so it's them he decides to focus on, and the next person to pass him in the hallway is his first victim. with a wave to draw their attention, amami offers a smile. at the same time, his mind turns, trying to figure out how best to phrase this so he doesn't seem like he's crazy if he's wrong. lets see... first off: )

( another thing he finds to be of note as he wanders through the halls is the bulletin board. the rules, for one, are beyond bizarre — that's a puzzle that he's going to pocket for the time being. what he's really interested in right now is the class assignments. it takes him a few minutes, peering through the names recorded on the sheet, but it does strike him that not all of the names are unfamiliar. a few stand out: kaede akamatsu, shuichi saihara, kokichi ouma... if it's true... well, at least one of those names is someone that amami has reason to consider may be trustworthy in a situation like this.c) wildcard

this time, victim number two is anybody who happens to be near the front hall. turning to glance at them, he gestures to the sheet. )
Hey, you wouldn't happen to know Kaede Akamatsu, would you?

( or maybe your name is one of those he'd recognize in the first place. in that case, when he turns, instead of an amicable smile, you're treated with a momentary expression of wide-eyed surprise. )

( you know, like he's walking into her actual house or something instead of just some random classroom that happened to be unoccupied tonight. it's a little bit dumb on purpose, but that's of secondary importance. primary matter right now is making sure the door's properly shut behind him. )
I remember that movie — it was actually pretty interesting, the idea that your thoughts might not belong to you...
( and kind of scary, really. some of the other themes touched on were also handled in interesting ways, like doubting your reality, or... well, actually, he has his own relationship with that, and you know what? he's not getting into it right now. instead, he's just going to walk over so that he's, say, five or ten feet away. that seems like a fair enough distance. like that, he'll sit down on the hard ass floor and set himself up, leaning against the wall. )
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you just said you were here to get away from them. I'd hate to get kicked out because you got the wrong impression.

( but compared to... all that mess that's going down here, she figures she'd take someone planting ideas in her head. maybe she'd have some more coherent thoughts on everything that's currently happening, rather than just haphazard, sudden bursts of random ideas that she wants to act on immediately.

Can't say anything particularly welcoming about this place, but as long as you keep your wits about you, you should be fine.

( not sure how to bring up the body they put in the pipes, for one, but maybe it's a symptom of not keeping your wits about you, as rika so aptly puts it. he could see that. oh, but he will scoot a little closer then; he'd figured that she wouldn't want some stranger coming all up in her personal space in what seems to be a haunted murder school, but clearly that isn't the case.
and, yeah, he'd agree with the cute comment, but there's not really a way to do so that doesn't make him sound tacky or shady, so... for now, it's just pocketed. )
Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Kawai-san. I'll try to make myself useful while we're here, but I don't suppose you have any other tips for getting by, do you?

kinda weird she's not dead yet, actually. if hyde changed his mind that night, she sure would be. in the end, she's probably not the best person to ask about that stuff... )
Ummm... don't drink the water, 'cause it's dirty as hell. ( not sure if he noticed yet or not, or if someone's told him yet, but better safe than sorry. ) The meat in home ec room is apparently not edible, so we have to make do with like, mostly snacks... and, um, if you want a sleeping bag and stuff like a toothbrush... we have an outdoor survival club! I don't think anybody's joined recently, so Nortykins would probably let me bring a person in if I asked with my cutest game face on.

nonetheless — that's a checkpoint pass if he's ever seen one. not only is she warning him about the basics, which he's already heard about but appreciates nonetheless, but she's the first person to offer something constructive to his continued stay here, too. of course, he doesn't expect that to be everything, but it isn't as if he's offering anything more either; for the time being, this is enough. naturally, that means he has to do this: )

It's fiiiine, it's meant to help people, I'm pretty sure. I'd invite a lot more if I remembered, but nobody really asks me for tips, so it keeps slipping my mind, and then I'm like, oh yeah, these suckers don't have the toothbrushes from the survival club, that's so gross — ( she pauses, for a moment, when he suggests he's a serial killer, and looks him over.
hmmm... hmmm. ) Naah, you don't look like one! I'd know!! ( she absolutely would NOT know. ) Besides, the club's just a big sausage fest, so if you tried something, you'd have that to deal with. Not fun. Not to mention, I could kick your ass myself — easily.
