a) travels
• open — 05/19, 2nd floor, right wing
( it takes little time for him to figure out the idea — that he can't leave. what's really strange about it is that... others can? there's a distinct lack of physical barriers preventing him, but even so, it's as if the world itself is engineered to trap him here. it is... something that he makes note of, but after some time spent checking his options, it's also something he sincerely doubts will be easily solved. more importantly, what he notices is that there are some students who just... don't go home. as if they aren't concerned with even trying to leave, even as the building begins to empty out for the evening.b) find my way
so it's them he decides to focus on, and the next person to pass him in the hallway is his first victim. with a wave to draw their attention, amami offers a smile. at the same time, his mind turns, trying to figure out how best to phrase this so he doesn't seem like he's crazy if he's wrong. lets see... first off: )
Sorry, but do you have a minute?
• open — 05/19, 1st floor, bulletin board
( another thing he finds to be of note as he wanders through the halls is the bulletin board. the rules, for one, are beyond bizarre — that's a puzzle that he's going to pocket for the time being. what he's really interested in right now is the class assignments. it takes him a few minutes, peering through the names recorded on the sheet, but it does strike him that not all of the names are unfamiliar. a few stand out: kaede akamatsu, shuichi saihara, kokichi ouma... if it's true... well, at least one of those names is someone that amami has reason to consider may be trustworthy in a situation like this.c) wildcard
option one:
this time, victim number two is anybody who happens to be near the front hall. turning to glance at them, he gestures to the sheet. )
Hey, you wouldn't happen to know Kaede Akamatsu, would you?
option two:
( or maybe your name is one of those he'd recognize in the first place. in that case, when he turns, instead of an amicable smile, you're treated with a momentary expression of wide-eyed surprise. )
What a coincidence, I didn't think I'd see you here.
• open — anywhere, any time
( have an idea? feel free to throw anything else my way, or if you're unsure, you can hit me up via pm or atkagehira! )

shuichi — 05/20, classroom 2-C
the talk with kaede was probably enough for one lunch hour, after all, and it definitely brought up some more questions about what happened after the library. with that in mind, there's one more "classmate" that amami has yet to meet with, so once the last class of the day comes to an end, saihara will notice a familiar face by the doorway of his classroom. or maybe on his way down the hallway making his way over to it, if he's really that fast to the door himself. )

...
[ he's silent for a second, nothing too long but it's difficult to mask that he almost thinks the other might vanish in a puff of smoke. but he does stand up from his seat after that, a little less surprised than he could be by the looks of it. ]
A-Amami-kun...? ...I thought so. When Akamatsu-san appeared, I wondered--
[ if they'd see him too. ]
no subject
Yeah. I saw your name on the class lists, so I thought I should check in. I already got to talk with Ouma-kun and Akamatsu-san.
( so it's safe to assume he's got... a bit of context, regarding what happened. )
no subject
[ it's a word of acknowledgement, mostly. he's still slow to react, adjusting to the situation of seeing another of his friends(?) (did they even know each other long enough to be friends... he knows kaede called them that, but how does amami feel?) in this place. no matter if he expected him or not. but he gets his bearings a second later, and settles against the desk, still on his feet but using it as a rest of sorts. ]
Akamatsu-san was only here a short while... but for Ouma-kun and I it's been almost two months. You heard about that, right? So you must have figured... we'd have pointers you might want.
[ that's shuichi's deduction for why amami's here. ]

( there's a smile on his face as he points it out — he's not necessarily disagreeing, but look, he's already picking up on the lingo and everything. essentially, he's trying to say that saihara doesn't have to worry about telling him the water is contaminated or the meat is inedible. )
Considering everything that happened, I thought it was a good idea to catch up generally too. Seems like I missed out on a lot.
( but who knows! maybe his death made him more trustworthy. he's still on the fence about saihara's own standing, mind you, but it feels like the idea of reaching out might not be quite so pointless as when he was just some sketchy guy who knew too much and too little all at once. )

[ so if they're going to talk about why amami would come to them specifically, there's no beating around the bush this is why. they're on the same page about that.
is that... too different? too assertive? it occurs to saihara a moment after he's said it -- kaede's case might be one thing because she's special... because she was close to him, because they got to talk while at the ultimate academy in the first place. because... she believed in him. but amami hasn't seen him since the days when he wore his hat and hid behind it, negligible in the shadow of that very same akamatsu-san who was pulling them all together.
and of course... part of him is still that same person. but a lot else has happened since then, as well. like the article of clothing that's notably absent from his head, there must be other details that no longer add up. the discrepancy... almost makes him a little nervous. ]
Ah, well, regardless... it makes sense that you'd want to check. What do you need me to answer?
no subject
( which is kind of new information for him, really; it's true that he didn't get the chance to learn very much about saihara beyond his name, his talent, and that he got along well with kaede before ending up here. and somehow, even in that he was beaten to the punch. absently, he can't help but wonder which school was the one that led to such a change in the other. or maybe... it was simply the way he's been all along.
whatever the case, amami will take the opportunity to lean back against another one of the nearby desks, kind of half-sitting on it with his arms crossed.
if saihara wants to be interrogated, amami guesses he can do that; he's no ultimate detective, but there are a couple of questions that come to mind. )
How far did you get, then?
( further than the rest of them at least, right? )
