THERE AINT NO PARTY LIKE A BLANKET FORT SLUMBER PARTY

Who: OPEN to anyone and everyone!
When: May 22nd (Saturday) after 6pm and the following morning
Where: Class 3-D
What: it's time to heal from all the chaos and murder with a blanket fort slumber party, hell yeah hell yeah

Sometime after school has fully closed for the day and everyone else has gone home, a sign is put up on the door to 3-D. In rounded letters and surrounded by drawings of flowers and a couple cartoon cats, it reads:

BLANKET FORT CONSTRUCTION ZONE
slumber party @ 8pm
all are welcome!
(rule breakers will be sent to JAIL)
... if you show up early, everything might still be in the process of being set up, but by 8pm most of the desks and chairs in the room have either been pushed to the sides or stacked strategically in the middle to form mighty fortress walls. These are, of course, topped with blankets for cover, because it wouldn't be a blanket fort without blankets. Blankets are a limited resource at the school, so it's recommended to bring your own if you don't want to share a fort with someone else. Or maybe just steal a big scrap of fabric from the art room. Close enough, right?

Aside from the obvious arrangements at the centre, there is an un-blanketed pair of desks set aside for snacks. Nene made cookies, and Clamor has put out a bowl of healthy nuts and fruit (as if anyone would actually take those over the cookies). For drinks, there are a few bottles of juice and one pot of (thoroughly filtered) tea and a few cups to use. A small folded sign at the table politely reads "Don't be greedy."

If you are greedy, or if you harass anyone else just trying to have a good time, you risk being sent to... ~~gay~~ baby jail™. It is, as always, a cardboard box situated in the farthest corner of the room, and guarded diligently by only the most fearsome of dads and buff teenagers. You have been warned.

There is also a second cardboard jail cell on the opposite corner of the room, which is not labelled (yet). The inside is absolutely covered in scratch marks, since it's the same box that was used to catch the cat earlier in the month... but now it's jail 2: jail harder. It is reserved for criminals who cannot be allowed to collaborate during jail time, and you know who you are, please just behave yourselves.

This is meant to be a slumber party, so eventually, an amount of slumber will be expected. Luckily it's the weekend, so everyone is welcome to sleep in for as long as they want... just don't sleep in too late, unless you want to get stuck helping with clean up.

((OOC: It's another mingle!!! Feel free to make your own toplevels and comment around, start some party games, bring some extra snacks, hijack Nene's nerf gun to lay siege to your neighbour's fort... w/e!

This is meant to be something of a break from the usual death and despair of murderschool, so please don't do any actual murders in this log that is literally the lowest bar i can ask of y'all. Put warnings in your threads as needed! General chaos is fine, but characters that cause too much of a disturbance will be manhandled and sent to ~~gay~~ baby jail™. You have been warned... twice!!

ICly the fort construction and party is being arranged by Clamor, Noah, Sidney and Nene, but basically anyone who wants to pop in and help out is welcome to, and CR may have been asked to join/help out in advance. If you need an excuse for your character to come, someone else could've dragged them there to chill—just ask!

( oh... well, that sounds like a good trade-off, sure. she's not patient enough to braid her hair, normally, and back when it was longer, she wore it in a high ponytail. it could've been a braid, but that didn't really fit with the idol look.

she's curious enough to let him drag her to the pillow fort, nodding along. )

How does a guy like you know how to make braids? ( kind of a weird thing to know, for a teenage boy...

Yeah, well. You do each other's hair and paint each other's nails and stuff. Too bad make-up around here is super limited... like... nonexistent, pretty much...

( he's teasing, of course — but she's dropped the subject of dick drawing so that's enough for him.

making their way over to the fort, he'll plop down cross-legged and pat the spot in front of him for rika. )

Yeah, I thought about those too, but it's not like we can really get those things without leaving the school. It could be worth asking some of the native students if they're willing to share for next time though.

I gueeeeess. I'm just curious where you learned!

( she flops down in front of him, her back turned, staring ahead. )

Yeah, though I guess the... other students could possibly buy us some stuff if we asked them. Well... maybe next time, when we have more opportunities to plan ahead...

Yeah, we might need something to offer up if we want them running errands for us, but I'm sure we can figure it out.

( anyway, even as he says all that, he's going to be gently gathering up her hair. you know, getting it all ready to be braided so none of it tangles — finger combing through it and all that. )

It'd be nice if we had a curling iron too, actually. But I guess we'll need to work with what we have.

( which is probably like. 1) her hair. 2) like, maybe four hairties if they're lucky. )

I think some of them are pretty amicable. ( yes she's talking about rokkun who brought them pizza for free?

anyway, she feels his fingers in her hair and relaxes a little. it feels nice... it's been a while since she's been at the hair dresser, obviously, and the fact that it's a hot, teenage boy makes it like, five times better. actually... )

Wait, let me... scoot back a little... ( right into his lap, because sitting on the floor is uncomfortable, but sitting on his thighs is much better.

and now that she's comfy, she'll just shrug. )

Definitely something cute. Maybe a little messy, for the aesthetic... Oh, maybe two smaller braids!

( oh, don't worry, nene already pointed him out to amami, who isn't even half as reserved as norton. rokkun, if you're out there, your days are numbered.

okay but that aside, he's accustomed enough to working with styles like that: simple, casual, practical, but cute. he has a pretty good idea now, and we're gonna use all their hairties to do it.

he's already given a hum of acknowledgment at her instructions, gathering up some of her hair for one of the first ponytails, when she decides that nope! the floor is just not comfortable enough! it's actually kind of nice, and super cute — but as much as i love that for her, amami is a loser at heart. especially when we're only about 3 minutes off of watching her draw many, many dicks on the board. he kind of glances to the side, then to the back of rika's head again, and gives a sheepish laugh. )

Um, Kawai-san, I think I might need a little more space than that.

( she knows he's a loser. honestly, if he wasn't, she wouldn't do it, simply because she'd hate to get teased about this. but since he's actually a pretty nice guy, and not at all the player you'd expect him to be just from looking at him, she feels... comfortable. safe... in his lap.

also, his fingers in her hair are making her sleepy as hell, so — )

It's fine, Ran-tan. My butt'll hurt if I sit on the floor... ( she's leaning forward, anyway, because she's relaxed and snoozy when he begins to gather her hair. )

( stop, she's not supposed to know. though, guess it's better than the alternative that generally gets assumed of him. even so — )

I mean, it is a blanket fort.

( he'll offer up that comment, as if to say that he doubts the floor is going to be that painful to sit on when there's a blanket on it. he certainly isn't that uncomfortable sitting there. with that, it doesn't look like he's going to actually make her move though. it should only take a few minutes for him to finish with what he's doing anyway, so what's the harm? and soon enough, he's folding the last of her hair into a small bun. )

( well, she can't really see now, but thankfully, she carries around a mirror she'd taken from her locker. ... well, another one, because she broke one already, so she's extra careful with this —

peering down into it, she sees herself, with her hair done in a bit of a messy style. it's cute, honestly, and it only took him, what, maybe ten minutes at the most? )

( first of all: he's glad she likes it. that was the goal after all, even if all his hard work is gonna be undone in like 10 minutes. whatever, it's fine — he still got his cheek kiss out of this. he accepts it only because it's too quick for him to really avoid doing so but, you know, with a sheepish smile, acting like it's normal (or maybe like it just never happened) works too.

anyway, the other thing that stands out is the mirror she has just pulled from seemingly nowhere. peeking over her shoulder at it... )

( spoken a little absentmindedly, as she leans back against him, staring into the mirror.

she's still not sure why that thing got in her locker, but she knows something is wrong with them, now. )

They just appeared in my locker one day, and uh, only mine, as far as I'm concerned. But the mirrors in this school... they're really odd.

Yeah, I heard they're special.

( naturally, he's kind of going to make an assumption when it comes to the mirrors here. he has already heard something strange about them, so: )

You use them to get out of the other world, right? I'm kind of jealous I didn't think of keeping one on me, actually.

( he intends to be going back and forth quite a bit, see, and it seems safer to have one on your person in case you get stuck there unintentionally. he's not fond of the thought of what would happen if you wound up there and for some reason couldn't get into the bathrooms.

he's kind of jealous of that welcome gift, to be frank. he's still working on the fingernails... )

( the thing is, there's more to these mirrors than just escaping the void world. she hasn't really... had the chance to discuss this with anyone yet, but she's seen some odd stuff happen with them, that's apparently not happened to anyone else. she's not sure if it's because she's been given these mirrors, or she just happened to catch it at the right time, but...

anyway, don't ask her why, but she has like, two shards on her, stashed away in her pocket. the one she's using to look at her hair is bigger, but the one she randomly hands to amami is smaller and a little sharp on the edges. )

Well, there you go. I got a bunch of these, 'cause I shattered a mirror a few days back. ( she says, completely casually. ) If you crush it in the other world, you'll come right back.

( and, apparently, it'll still be intact. )

But, actually, um... there's something else I've seen about them. The mirrors, I mean. I haven't really... talked to anyone about it, except a Senpai who was with me at the time, but... for some reason, when we were in the bathroom, and he touched the mirror... when his eyes were closed, the reflections were frozen.

Thanks, Kawai-san. At this rate I really owe you, don't I?

( taking the mirror shard in his hand, amami will pause for a moment to take a look. hm, might be a good idea to wrap it in some fabric first, but it looks perfectly sized for him to keep in his pocket as he goes around the school, so that curious expression of his quickly shifts into a smile. she is like, the source of 90% of his quality of life and utility so far, and doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.

he'll pause to allow her time for her story though, listening carefully as she recounts it. there's a moment's pause after, amami thinking over what happened, but... it seems difficult to explain. )

They stopped... and you were still moving, right? Here in the real world?

( cue thoughtful hum. )

...That is pretty strange. Can I ask what he said when you mentioned it?

No biggie, no biggie. I've got a bunch of them, still.

( and when you crush them in the void school, they just come right back when you return, so it's pretty handy. )

Yeah, we were still moving... um... I don't think he believed me? I told him to check for himself, but I don't think he saw the same thing as me. And he seemed... I dunno, pretty desperate to keep me from breaking any mirrors around him. He dove for one when I dropped it, like, who does that?

( not to mention he ended up getting cut and sending her to the void, so, really, what was accomplished there... did he really just want to look out for her, or was there something more to it? )

That's supposed to be seven years of bad luck, you know. Maybe he's superstitious?

( even though his tone is light, amami is taking this seriously nonetheless, stopping to think after he suggests the idea. frankly? it is strange... he always thought that even beliefs like that just tended to be based in not wanting to clean up broken glass and the like, but that wouldn't necessarily explain the kind of desperation that would have somebody literally dive to save one.

he'll chew on the desperation aspect for now, but at least he can comment on the other. )

Seeing as we're transfer students, I think we should keep the possibility in mind that we may be able to see things the native students can't. They don't seem to know about the "other side" of the school, and they aren't trapped by whatever's keeping us in here. There might be special rules that only apply to us.

( she huffs, shaking her head. she doesn't really care about this whole bad luck superstition — she's never had good luck in her fucking life, thank you very much. )

Even if he's superstitious, it was me breaking it. It's my bad luck, not his, so I dunno why he'd care that much. ( the thought that he might care because he's fond of her doesn't even cross her mind, but honestly, even if he did, is that really enough to dive for a mirror and risk serious injury...

better not think about this too hard or she's gonna crush on him harder. )

Hmm... ( now that amami says that, though, she does pause. it's perfectly feasible she was seeing things because she's a transfer and rokkun isn't — and that there's certain stuff, like the void school, that the native students can't access. ) ... yeah, I guess... that checks out, actually. Because in the... um, void place... they're just shadows. They kinda don't interact with us at all. It's weird, right? But anyway, um... when the mirror broke and I went there, because his hand got cut, the mirror shards... they showed me glimpses of his past, I think.

His past, huh...?

( hm... remind amami to be a bit more careful about where his blood lands in this place — not that he wasn't already but, seriously. can nothing be normal here? bringing a hand up to his chin, he'll give a long exhale, thinking through things, but... it's not like he has a lot of pieces to work with, this soon after arriving.

after a moment, he offers an apologetic smile instead. )

That one, I don't have any ideas about. Still — thanks for telling me. If I manage to find anything that could be related, I'll let you know, and I guess it's something we can keep in mind.

( anyway, you know what? that's enough of that topic. amami doesn't have anything further to contribute, and this isn't the place for him to be prodding at rika to stress herself over it further. instead, he'll reach over and pinch at one of her cheeks, pulling lightly. )

But for now, we're supposed to be taking a break.

( she claps her hands, a little relieved. she didn't exactly reveal any of rokkun's actual past, and it's not like the personal scenes from it were anything amami would be interested in, anyway, but... just being able to get this off her chest was nice.

he lets rika lean back against him, leaning back himself somewhat to rest on the palms of his hands like he's some kind of recliner or something, and gives a bit of a sigh. the kind where you're thinking, you know? lots of things to choose from, if it's stories, but he supposes he can share a few things from his travels — nice things. like long climbs leading to mountaintop views that make all of your problems feel small when you think about how big this world is. he'll tell her two or three, if they have the time for it. )
