THERE AINT NO PARTY LIKE A BLANKET FORT SLUMBER PARTY
Who: OPEN to anyone and everyone!
When: May 22nd (Saturday) after 6pm and the following morning
Where: Class 3-D
What: it's time to heal from all the chaos and murder with a blanket fort slumber party, hell yeah hell yeah
Sometime after school has fully closed for the day and everyone else has gone home, a sign is put up on the door to 3-D. In rounded letters and surrounded by drawings of flowers and a couple cartoon cats, it reads:
BLANKET FORT CONSTRUCTION ZONE
slumber party @ 8pm
all are welcome!
(rule breakers will be sent to JAIL)
... if you show up early, everything might still be in the process of being set up, but by 8pm most of the desks and chairs in the room have either been pushed to the sides or stacked strategically in the middle to form mighty fortress walls. These are, of course, topped with blankets for cover, because it wouldn't be a blanket fort without blankets. Blankets are a limited resource at the school, so it's recommended to bring your own if you don't want to share a fort with someone else. Or maybe just steal a big scrap of fabric from the art room. Close enough, right?
Aside from the obvious arrangements at the centre, there is an un-blanketed pair of desks set aside for snacks. Nene made cookies, and Clamor has put out a bowl of healthy nuts and fruit (as if anyone would actually take those over the cookies). For drinks, there are a few bottles of juice and one pot of (thoroughly filtered) tea and a few cups to use. A small folded sign at the table politely reads "Don't be greedy."
If you are greedy, or if you harass anyone else just trying to have a good time, you risk being sent to...gay baby jail™. It is, as always, a cardboard box situated in the farthest corner of the room, and guarded diligently by only the most fearsome of dads and buff teenagers. You have been warned.
There is also a second cardboard jail cell on the opposite corner of the room, which is not labelled (yet). The inside is absolutely covered in scratch marks, since it's the same box that was used to catch the cat earlier in the month... but now it's jail 2: jail harder. It is reserved for criminals who cannot be allowed to collaborate during jail time, and you know who you are, please just behave yourselves.
This is meant to be a slumber party, so eventually, an amount of slumber will be expected. Luckily it's the weekend, so everyone is welcome to sleep in for as long as they want... just don't sleep in too late, unless you want to get stuck helping with clean up.
((OOC: It's another mingle!!! Feel free to make your own toplevels and comment around, start some party games, bring some extra snacks, hijack Nene's nerf gun to lay siege to your neighbour's fort... w/e!
This is meant to be something of a break from the usual death and despair of murderschool, so please don't do any actual murders in this log that is literally the lowest bar i can ask of y'all. Put warnings in your threads as needed! General chaos is fine, but characters that cause too much of a disturbance will be manhandled and sent togay baby jail™. You have been warned... twice!!
ICly the fort construction and party is being arranged by Clamor, Noah, Sidney and Nene, but basically anyone who wants to pop in and help out is welcome to, and CR may have been asked to join/help out in advance. If you need an excuse for your character to come, someone else could've dragged them there to chill—just ask!
anyway that's all pls have fun, go nuts))

Does anybody have a marker?
[ Otherwise there's ??? pizza sauce ]
no subject
Here.
[ She hands over a marker she found somewhere around the classroom. ]
Don't write anything super weird, okay?
no subject
[ He stands in front of her and pushes her bangs aside with his hand before writing a quick something, then lets her bangs fall back into place and carefully smooths her bangs so they cover the word. There we go! In the end, nobody can even tell what he wrote. ]
no subject
It also feels weird having someone else smooth out her hair like this, and her own hands fly up to make sure her bangs are fine. They are. ]
You really can't tell me what you wrote, can you?
[ She wants to know!! Hm. ]
Do you think it's too soon to go look in a mirror?
no subject
Try to hold out for as long as you can, or it would be no fun, right?
no subject
You're right... I didn't know it would be so hard!
[ And her will is so weak! ]
Help me hold out a little... What's your name?
[ She'll just ask questions, because that's an easy way to distract herself. ]
no subject
[ Surprise! They're classmates! Which I learned just now bc I never check the class roster. ]
no subject
Oh, you're right! Now that I think of it, you look familiar!
[ Her pout immediately changes into a smile. ]
I'm Kaede Akamatsu. It's nice to actually meet you.

It's nice to meet you. You're a pianist, right? I've seen you in the music room sometimes— I bet Maya would be glad if you joined the club so she didn't have to play accompaniment.
[ ?? ??? Would Kaede enjoy playing accompaniment at all, he doesn't know ]
no subject
[ There's something about enhancing other people's performances that she just can't get playing on her own. ]
You know, next time you see me in the music room, you're welcome to stop by. I'd be happy to play for you sometime.
no subject
[ He sounds surprised, actually, thinking a pianist of apparent renown would rather have the spotlight on her instead of being in the background, but maybe she just likes piano in general. ]
I'd like that, actually. Do you know that song that goes—
[ He hums something, but it doesn't... really sound like anything. Not a song, barely coherent notes, but he does look expectant. ]
no subject
Nope, sorry. I think I'll need a few more measures than that.
[ Kaede gives him an apologetic smile, but then an idea strikes her. ]
I can play you a bunch of different songs! Maybe one of the songs will end up being that one!
[ Plus, she'll be able to just play a bunch of songs. It's a win-win. ]
no subject
The "scattershot approach" huh...? May as well try it. It's a song that makes you want to cry, but laugh at the same time. That sort of song.
[ If he can't convey the melody, then maybe the feeling will serve just as well? ]
no subject
[ Knowing the feeling it's meant to evoke certainly helps. There are already a few songs she can think of. ]
I'll play as many as I need to until you find it! Playing piano is my favorite thing to do, so don't worry about me getting tired of it.
