THERE AINT NO PARTY LIKE A BLANKET FORT SLUMBER PARTY
Who: OPEN to anyone and everyone!
When: May 22nd (Saturday) after 6pm and the following morning
Where: Class 3-D
What: it's time to heal from all the chaos and murder with a blanket fort slumber party, hell yeah hell yeah
Sometime after school has fully closed for the day and everyone else has gone home, a sign is put up on the door to 3-D. In rounded letters and surrounded by drawings of flowers and a couple cartoon cats, it reads:
BLANKET FORT CONSTRUCTION ZONE
slumber party @ 8pm
all are welcome!
(rule breakers will be sent to JAIL)
... if you show up early, everything might still be in the process of being set up, but by 8pm most of the desks and chairs in the room have either been pushed to the sides or stacked strategically in the middle to form mighty fortress walls. These are, of course, topped with blankets for cover, because it wouldn't be a blanket fort without blankets. Blankets are a limited resource at the school, so it's recommended to bring your own if you don't want to share a fort with someone else. Or maybe just steal a big scrap of fabric from the art room. Close enough, right?
Aside from the obvious arrangements at the centre, there is an un-blanketed pair of desks set aside for snacks. Nene made cookies, and Clamor has put out a bowl of healthy nuts and fruit (as if anyone would actually take those over the cookies). For drinks, there are a few bottles of juice and one pot of (thoroughly filtered) tea and a few cups to use. A small folded sign at the table politely reads "Don't be greedy."
If you are greedy, or if you harass anyone else just trying to have a good time, you risk being sent to...gay baby jail™. It is, as always, a cardboard box situated in the farthest corner of the room, and guarded diligently by only the most fearsome of dads and buff teenagers. You have been warned.
There is also a second cardboard jail cell on the opposite corner of the room, which is not labelled (yet). The inside is absolutely covered in scratch marks, since it's the same box that was used to catch the cat earlier in the month... but now it's jail 2: jail harder. It is reserved for criminals who cannot be allowed to collaborate during jail time, and you know who you are, please just behave yourselves.
This is meant to be a slumber party, so eventually, an amount of slumber will be expected. Luckily it's the weekend, so everyone is welcome to sleep in for as long as they want... just don't sleep in too late, unless you want to get stuck helping with clean up.
((OOC: It's another mingle!!! Feel free to make your own toplevels and comment around, start some party games, bring some extra snacks, hijack Nene's nerf gun to lay siege to your neighbour's fort... w/e!
This is meant to be something of a break from the usual death and despair of murderschool, so please don't do any actual murders in this log that is literally the lowest bar i can ask of y'all. Put warnings in your threads as needed! General chaos is fine, but characters that cause too much of a disturbance will be manhandled and sent togay baby jail™. You have been warned... twice!!
ICly the fort construction and party is being arranged by Clamor, Noah, Sidney and Nene, but basically anyone who wants to pop in and help out is welcome to, and CR may have been asked to join/help out in advance. If you need an excuse for your character to come, someone else could've dragged them there to chill—just ask!
anyway that's all pls have fun, go nuts))

So, what are you doing to be locked up?
[ She sounds so proud. It can't be that bad, right? ]
no subject
Well... I drew all that. ( she points at the blackboard, where there's still some... dicks drawn... others got erased, unfortunately. ) And, I dunno, I'm just being myself, but then people start complaining, like, "Rika, you can't disrupt the peace." This place's chaotic already, anyway!
no subject
There's nothing wrong with disrupting the peace sometimes.
[ But she can't always encourage it either... ]
Then again... Sometimes even more chaos is tiring. [ She just thinks about the Monokubs and yeah. Chaos on top of chaos can be a lot. ] Whenever I feel like doing things I know I shouldn't, I go play a really fun song on the piano, or I hum it.
no subject
( whenever they're around each other, Bad Things happen. )
Hmmm... will you play me a song sometime? I can sing and dance, but I'm no good with instruments. ( she used to be an idol, though... so she knows Some Things. )
no subject
[ Or she can pick one out for her—Kaede likes doing that a lot. ]
You have to promise to show me some of your dancing and singing, though.
no subject
( she kinda... quit being an idol, so... she hasn't done any of that in like, almost a year now. )
What are your favorites? ... to play, I mean.
no subject
[ It really is that simple for her. She's not here to judge on how rusty someone is at something.
As for her favorite songs... ]
Let's see... There's Gymnopedie No. 1 by Satie! The melody calms my heart and makes me feel at ease with its soft notes. Sonatine No. 1 Modere by Ravel has a lot of notes, but there's something soothing about that one too. Or Chopin's Waltz #3 in A Minor, because you really can't go wrong with a waltz!
[ She hums, thinking a little more. ]
I also like Nocturne by Chopin too. There's something really serene about it. [ And speaking of serene... Kaede's smile softens a little. ] I also like Clair De Lune by Debussy. I always imagine looking out on a lake and catching a glimpse of the moonlight reflected on its surface when I play it. Something about that calms me and gives me strength.

( kaede looks so nice she doubts she'd ever mock rika for anything. but also, she's not actually bad, so she's just making excuses; her days as an idol bring forth painful memories, but... if she could make kaede smile, maybe it's worth it. maybe she misses it, even, though her heart was never truly into it.
kaede's heart, in the other hand, is obviously very into piano. it's cute, honestly — rika knows nothing of these songs, and can only recall maybe one of them, very briefly, from the rhythm classes they had to take back when she was an idol, but —
just listening to kaede talk about the songs makes her want to hear them. which is weird, because she's never even had any real interest in the classics. still...
eagerly, she catches kaede's hands in hers, bringing them up and sparkling with excitement. )
There's a piano in the music room! You gotta play all of them for me, 'kay?!
no subject
She's excited to see Rika dance, even without an idol outfit. After all, Kaede likes seeing people do things they're good at. ]
I will! You're also always welcome to stop by if you ever hear me practicing!
[ Since she will be practicing quite a bit. It's an easy way to take her mind off things, after all.
Which, now that she thinks of it— ]
If you ever want to learn how to play a song, I'd be happy to teach you.
[ Rika had said she's no good at instruments, but that won't deter Kaede from teaching her how to play either. ]
no subject
I hang around there all the time, so you'll probably see me a lot... ~ ( cause, you know, for some reason the survival club stuff is in there, so they kinda camp out around the music room.
as for learning songs, well... she knows how to play a basic do re mi, but she can't say she's ever had any particular interest in learning more. never had an opportunity, either, though, so who knows? maybe it'll be fun.
kaede might make it fun. )
Are you sure you're up to taking on a completely hopeless student?
no subject
[ That answer comes easily and, of course, enthusiastically. ]
You're not hopeless, you know. As long as you enjoy yourself while you play, there's nothing hopeless about it! Even if you make a lot of mistakes.
[ To Kaede, it's as simple as that. ]
no subject
That's one way to think about it... but, I wanna be perfect at everything I do, duh! I've got an image to keep, y'know?! So you'll have to train me intensely!
no subject
It's just not an option. ]
I'll be the strictest teacher you've ever had!
[ The way she cheerfully says that probably doesn't make her sound convincing, though. ]
Really, there's no perfect way to play a song. You add your own heart into it when you play, so it's not going to sound exactly as it looks on the sheet. Even mistakes can be something great.
