THERE AINT NO PARTY LIKE A BLANKET FORT SLUMBER PARTY

Who: OPEN to anyone and everyone!
When: May 22nd (Saturday) after 6pm and the following morning
Where: Class 3-D
What: it's time to heal from all the chaos and murder with a blanket fort slumber party, hell yeah hell yeah

Sometime after school has fully closed for the day and everyone else has gone home, a sign is put up on the door to 3-D. In rounded letters and surrounded by drawings of flowers and a couple cartoon cats, it reads:

BLANKET FORT CONSTRUCTION ZONE
slumber party @ 8pm
all are welcome!
(rule breakers will be sent to JAIL)

... if you show up early, everything might still be in the process of being set up, but by 8pm most of the desks and chairs in the room have either been pushed to the sides or stacked strategically in the middle to form mighty fortress walls. These are, of course, topped with blankets for cover, because it wouldn't be a blanket fort without blankets. Blankets are a limited resource at the school, so it's recommended to bring your own if you don't want to share a fort with someone else. Or maybe just steal a big scrap of fabric from the art room. Close enough, right?

Aside from the obvious arrangements at the centre, there is an un-blanketed pair of desks set aside for snacks. Nene made cookies, and Clamor has put out a bowl of healthy nuts and fruit (as if anyone would actually take those over the cookies). For drinks, there are a few bottles of juice and one pot of (thoroughly filtered) tea and a few cups to use. A small folded sign at the table politely reads "Don't be greedy."

If you are greedy, or if you harass anyone else just trying to have a good time, you risk being sent to... gay baby jailâ„¢. It is, as always, a cardboard box situated in the farthest corner of the room, and guarded diligently by only the most fearsome of dads and buff teenagers. You have been warned.

There is also a second cardboard jail cell on the opposite corner of the room, which is not labelled (yet). The inside is absolutely covered in scratch marks, since it's the same box that was used to catch the cat earlier in the month... but now it's jail 2: jail harder. It is reserved for criminals who cannot be allowed to collaborate during jail time, and you know who you are, please just behave yourselves.

This is meant to be a slumber party, so eventually, an amount of slumber will be expected. Luckily it's the weekend, so everyone is welcome to sleep in for as long as they want... just don't sleep in too late, unless you want to get stuck helping with clean up.

((OOC: It's another mingle!!! Feel free to make your own toplevels and comment around, start some party games, bring some extra snacks, hijack Nene's nerf gun to lay siege to your neighbour's fort... w/e!

This is meant to be something of a break from the usual death and despair of murderschool, so please don't do any actual murders in this log that is literally the lowest bar i can ask of y'all. Put warnings in your threads as needed! General chaos is fine, but characters that cause too much of a disturbance will be manhandled and sent to gay baby jailâ„¢. You have been warned... twice!!

ICly the fort construction and party is being arranged by Clamor, Noah, Sidney and Nene, but basically anyone who wants to pop in and help out is welcome to, and CR may have been asked to join/help out in advance. If you need an excuse for your character to come, someone else could've dragged them there to chill—just ask!

anyway that's all pls have fun, go nuts))

...what do you draw?

[Noah's eyes light up at the comment. A fellow artist... Well, he doesn't consider himself much of an artist since this is all just a way of keeping his hands occupied more than anything and he doesn't think he's really that great, but... either way, he really wants to see Turing's art!]

Do you, um... do you have any drawings on you? I want to see.

I started out with landscapes, but recently I've moved on to more abstract subjects. It is nice to draw a tree every so often, however!

[ Happy little trees, even. Unfortunately, Turing's gaze fell at Noah's next question. ]

I'm afraid not... I usually work with canvas, so it is difficult to bring my artwork with me. I haven't been able to paint very much recently either. [ Turing paused to let out the sound of a sigh, but that quickly gave way to an idea. ] Would it be alright if I drew something in your sketchbook right now?

O-oh! Uh, y-yeah, sure...

[Despite the stutter, he doesn't hesitate for even a half moment before he hands his sketchbook over, including his pen of course! It's just a simple black ballpoint pen, nothing fancy.

Noah won't look over Turing's shoulders to see what they draw, but he'll wait patiently while sitting criss-cross on the floor instead. People looking over your shoulder when you draw is scary after all!]

Thank you!

[ Now, what to draw... Their usual style wouldn't translate well, and they didn't want to leave marks on the pages below either. Therefore, they went back to their comfort zone and began drawing a branch of a very specific tree; in light of everything that had happened, it was nice to go back to some amount of normalcy.

Ah, the mottled bark and clean lines of the leaves really were fun to draw. As were the buds and fluffy flowers. Machines were best at reproduction, but for Turing it wasn't just a matter of reproduction. They frowned when a line didn't come out the way they wanted (working with just a black pen was more difficult than they anticipated) and smiled when it did, and instead of shading they worked in little patterns of circles and squares and triangles to indulge their more abstract side.

It...took them a while to realize just how much time they were taking on something that was meant to be just a sketch. They offered the sketchbook back to Noah, clearly chastened by that sudden realization. ]

I-I'm sorry! It's been so long since my last real drawing that I got a little carried away...

[Noah honestly doesn't mind! And to be frank, he's very impressed when he sees the drawing, being very careful not to run his fingers over the page even though he kind of wants to. Wow...]

This is really good. Um, you don't have to apologise. ...oh, you know what?

[Can they get into the art room? Noah wants to get in. He's pretty sure the door is unlocked...]

...do you want to come to the art room with me? I think it's open after-hours. We can help ourselves to the supplies and stuff.

[ Turing let out a little giggle at being praised. Ah, one of their weaknesses. Still, they really needed to get their own sketchbook. Sharing their art was an unfamiliar experience--Hayden's interest in their art more extended to what it meant or could mean for machine sapience instead of what it meant for Turing as an individual. Maybe...that could change now. ]

I would like that, but is that allowed?

[ Would Rokkun be upset and revoke their membership if they aided Noah with this? Hmm. ]

I am in the process of joining the art club, so perhaps it's allowed since I will be accompanying you?

...if they leave the door unlocked, it's a free invitation.

[No, Noah, that's how you get arrested! Silly boy.]

And besides, [now he's crawling out of the fort,] if they want to blame someone, they can blame me. It was my idea in the first place, and, um... I don't want you to get in trouble.

[He says while he's dragging Turing into his fairly-innocent crimes of intending to go steal sketchbooks and supplies from the art room, but listen, it's fine, right? If they're blank and they don't have names on them, they're clearly meant to be distributed, and this school has basically captured them and therefore Noah thinks they get art rights as compensation.

So, that said? He exits the classroom, hoping Turing follows after him.]

We'll just bring stuff back here. [Shrug.]

[ Clamor your child is becoming a delinquent ]

I don't think that's how that works...

[ Despite that they still followed behind Noah as he left the fort and the classroom. After all, they couldn't let him go alone after he said all that! They wanted to return the kindness they had just been shown, and they certainly couldn't do that from inside a cozy fort. ]

I don't know if I can condone this kind of clandestine activity, but I don't want you to go by yourself, either. As I'll be going with you, it's only fair if I take half the blame!

[ Yes, going into the art club after hours counted as a 'clandestine activity' to Turing. No, saying that was not stopping them from following Noah. ]

[Haha he's already kind of a delinquent don't worry about it.]

Well, we'll just have to make sure we don't get in trouble then.

[This is beginning to sound like "if someone accuses us of doing something I'm just gonna lie my ass off", isn't it? Oh well. Noah walks along, hands in his pockets, totally unbothered by all of this.

The art room is unlocked, as he'd hoped. Noah takes to rifling around immediately, though he is mindful to avoid touching things that are clearly in use or works in progress. He's not evil, he's just a gremlin, especially right now.]

Some of these students can paint really well... [He comments absentmindedly to a nice landscape piece sitting up on an easel near the front of the room.]

[ They pattered on over to Noah to see what piece he was referring to. ]

I agree! It's exciting to see all of these works in progress in person as well! I wonder how they'll look once they're finished.

[ Yeah, it maybe wasn't the same as being in a gallery or something like that, but they were expressions of creativity in a less abstract form. Something about that was appealing in its own right. Though when Turing's attention was pulled more to 'what is Noah doing' side, there was a certain memory that rose to the top. In response, they stood in front of a closet with a worried or even guilty look crossing their face. ]

I wouldn't recommend looking in here. There aren't any art supplies in here, and the contents are...unpleasant.

[ Turing was small enough that Noah wouldn't have any difficulty pushing them to the side if he really wanted to look. No one was more aware of that fact than they were. Still, they did it anyway. The school was creepy enough as it was, and they wanted to protect their new friend from having to add yet another creepy thing to the pile. ]
