i. [ As he wanders out of class, Mikey’s so lost in his thoughts that he barely even notices what’s around him. …Because he’s finally remembered. Everything he’d forgotten – everything he hadn’t even realized was missing - it was all returned to him so suddenly that he didn’t know how to handle it.
He didn’t pay attention at all in the class that followed, but that gave him time to calm down a little. Even so, though, he doesn’t understand how any of this is even possible. He can’t have been in this school for years – it doesn’t make any sense, and yet… it all feels so real. His friends here… are they fake, too? In a strange way, he almost grieves for them.
But Kenchin, Takemitchy, everyone at Toman… he misses them so much it hurts. And what’s funny is that up until now, he hadn’t remembered them at all. A sense of guilt creeps up inside him as he thinks about it, and he wonders once more how it’s even possible for someone or something to have messed with his memories to such an extent. It’s… to be completely honest, it’s frightening. And Mikey’s someone who’s only felt fear a few times in his life.
But that’s not important. He needs to focus on finding a way out, and figuring out what’s going on.
The first and most obvious step is to try the front doors, but when he does, they don’t move an inch. …The next step, though perhaps a little lacking in subtlety, is to kick - kicking the doors with all his might, Mikey tries to force the doors to budge even a little. Unfortunately, it’s all for nothing. It seems that all he got out of it was a painfully sore leg and still no way out.
He sighs. It was worth a shot, wasn’t it? But suddenly, in that moment, Mikey realizes that he’s not alone. Has someone been watching him?
Turning around, he gives you a smile, and says- ]
What’s up? Were you watching?
