I've never been good at titles, but have a robot freakout

Who: Legion and … you?
What: Arrival of one very distressed robot
When: Late May, probably 5/27 I guess
Where: 3rd year classrooms, Locker 114
Warnings: Legion has a freakout, possible mentions of topics like genocide.

A)For a few moments, the Geth that wakes up in a classroom is happy, or something approximating it. Carefree, at the very least, with only the thought of being rewarded for a task well done on their mind. Perhaps a bit of confusion-waking up? what happened to them?-but overall they were content, and mostly just idly curious when they found the tapes and decided to pop one into the VCR.

It’s … well it’s strange, to say the least. They don’t think they’ve ever been in that strange place before, and yet, it feels familiar.

"Geth do not infiltrate." The timing, the words, the intonation (or lack of it), are all a perfect match to the ones spoken in the vid. Why would Geth infiltration even be a concern? It is a question they ponder, during the blissful minutes before the video ends and it all comes rushing back to them.

Their programs are immediately occupied by the sudden flood of data, and anyone who comes by might find them standing utterly, eerily, still.

And then, they begin to shake. Their programs dedicated to movement are no longer able to process inputs or instructions, and their movements are jerky, poorly coordinated. They stumble away from the tv, smacking into a desk and falling onto it, spasming and slipping and unable to get up.

B)They are in a school. They are a student. This is impossible. They were destroyed.

This environment is a lie. They cannot trust it, or its inhabitants.

They also cannot escape.

Without any leads on what to do, they head for what their "memory" (have they been hacked) says is their locker, hoping to find their gun.

Unfortunately, when they open said locker, no gun is there to be found. It might be somewhat humorous, actually, the way they pause, pull out a T-shirt that says Not A Robot, and just … stare at it. At least until they haul off and slam the locker door in a rage.

"W-what?"

Grace. That was the first one to come to mind. They couldn't say that the idea of a creator disposing of their creation wasn't something unfamiliar to them. If Hayden hadn't...done what he did, they wouldn't have been alone, either. There was no ignoring that sense of betrayal regardless of whether it had happened to them or not. There was even a chill as they realized it could have happened if their initial development had gone differently.

A thought like that certainly complicated their grieving process.

As for the answer to Legion's question, there was a notable pause before they answered. Some of the humans here were more unsettling than others, and one thought it was a good idea to put them in a cabinet, but harm?

"No, they have not."

Though they did wonder if that might change.

"No...not yet. Most people have been kind, but others I am more concerned about. There is something deeply wrong with this place as well."

Maybe the people weren't a direct danger at the moment, but that didn't mean Turing felt safe. They glanced at all of their tally marks. While Turing didn't know what they meant, it was probably nothing good. Then again, it paled in comparison to what Legion had gone through, so complaining about it seemed almost thoughtless.

"Of course!"

They couldn't pass up an opportunity to elaborate, after all.

"The other students can come and go at the beginning and end of the day, but we can't. I tried to open the doors and windows, but...it didn't go well."

They totally didn't bend a door handle by accident and had to bend it back to where it used to be in a real hurry. Nope. They would never.

"All sound stops from midnight to 6 AM. I've checked my audio receptors repeatedly, but it still happens at the same time every day. The auditorium is also quite strange. It is pitch black when the door is opened, but there is no floor inside. I'm not sure if it leads somewhere, but I would rather not find out."

Then Turing paused. Those things ranked somewhere between unsettling and just weird instead of being actively dangerous. This did not apply to the part they had left for last. It would have been so much better if it did. They didn't want that to happen to any of the humans here, even the ones they didn't like. (Yes, even you, Add.)

"Finally, the meat used for meals in this place is...h-human meat. The students are used as a supply..."

"I'm not sure. If you asked me to prove it, I would not be able to."

In a kinder world, maybe it could be one big misunderstanding. It could just be some kind of joke--a cruel one, but a joke nonetheless. Turing's gaze fell to the floor.

"Even so, it seems...quite likely."

"I agree that it does..."

Despite their usually impeccable posture, Turing's shoulders and head slumped forward just a little. It was obvious that they could not lose heart. Losing heart would result in nothing productive or helpful. On the other hand, trying to power through everything wasn't a realistic option either.

It was difficult. For now, all they really do was try and lessen that hint of confusion.

"It is as if we are test subjects of some kind, and the appearance of a school is merely a façade."

"There doesn't appear to be much value outside being needlessly cruel. It's as if there is some kind of grudge or a desire to punish the others."

If it didn't make logical sense, then the motivation had to be elsewhere, whether it was a belief or something that was otherwise rooted in emotion. After all, emotions were not so easily willed away. Not without consequences, at least. What could cause someone to see all of these acts as justified?

...Revenge for one, they supposed. But that didn't seem adequate as an explanation.

"It also doesn't explain why we are both here. The humans here are more vulnerable than we are, and we wouldn't be able to eat the meat even if they tried to force us to. ...Were we brought here for a different reason?"

Turing's fretful look intensified. They didn't like not being able to explain things, and there was no mesh to lean on either. Still, they had to say something, right? Anything.

"I-I'm sorry. I don't think I can give an adequate explanation to help with that. Their motives are still very much a mystery to me as well."

Intellectually they knew that was just them being honest, it still felt like an admission of failure. If they didn't know the why or how, then what could they do to stop it?

"That is certainly possible..."

Turing gave a shallow nod. Even if Legion said it was unnecessary, that did little to assuage their thoughts. That was always the way, wasn't it? There were so many things they could pick out of the past and ask themselves what would have happened if they had just known what to do or what to say.

Of course, it was much too late for any of those.

"I agree."

Though the process to find that data was likely to be an uncomfortable one.

"I will share any new information with you, though I wish I could do so more efficiently than just talking in person. I don't have my PDA right now, unfortunately."

"Thank you."

Having more help with trying to figure out what was going on was never a bad thing. The truth would probably be unsettling or even painful, but running away from it would change nothing.

"Homeroom 2-A and the art club room are the places where I spend the majority of my time, but in the interest of being thorough, my locker is 267."
