May mini-mini-event

05/31 16:00

The student council elections take place after class on Monday, with students instructed to gather in the auditorium for the assembly. Attendance is not mandatory, but once students enter the auditorium and take their seats with the rest of their homeroom, they will find that they are not able to speak or get up from their seats. There are no teachers present.

Fifteen minutes past the hour, the doors to the auditorium close and the assembly commences, with the current student body president Maya Arisu stepping up to the podium, obligatorily thanking everybody for coming, and briefly going over the agenda: the student council candidates, sitting in a neat row behind her at the back of the stage, are to first introduce themselves to the student body, after which the candidates will make a case for why they would best serve the student body. As each person comes up to the podium, a projector shines on the white screen behind the stage with an image of the student's profile, displaying their full name, homeroom, blood type, handedness, club membership and leadership roles, current grades, and current merit points. Those in the student council are held to high standards, be it scholastic achievement as exemplified by grades or club participation, or eloquence or bravado if they have nothing else going for them but talk big anyways, like the current candidate in the middle of a passionate speech concerning the atrocity that is Ishimaru's eyebrows, like, do you really want that to be the face of the student body--

The mic cuts off and Maya drops the end of the power cord before striding up to the center of the stage, staring at the candidate to get out of her way or risk a broken foot.

"I'm going to stop wasting your time," she says, voice quiet but at the same time clear and audible in the hush of the room. "The qualities I'm looking for in a member of our council isn't intelligence or diligence or kindness. Who the person is matters the most: what they do and how they think."

She turns around, facing the candidates, looking at each of them in turn. "We will be testing your character. Follow me."

One by one, the student council candidates rise to their feet and file out of the auditorium after Maya, stiff and robotic, almost as if they have no control over their bodies as she leads them out the door. The moment the last candidate leaves the auditorium, the spell binding everybody's limbs and voices breaks, students jumping to their feet to push and shove each other out of the way in their excitement to leave-- not to go home, but to crowd around the windows surrounding the courtyard, or to race each other to the higher floors to claim the windows with the best views:

Out in the courtyard, the student council candidates line up against the side of the school. Facing them, in a half circle in front of the wisteria tree, are several familiar faces, each with a dagger in hand, a stagger to their steps, yellow in their eyes, and wild animalistic abandon in the way they lunge at the student council candidates.

The sun is bright overhead. Blood spills and soaks into the ground. The school stays true and does not turn.

OOC

✽ Happy Execution Day! For those unfamiliar with how murdergame executions work, the initial top-level is reserved for Ishimaru and Madison to fight to the death, while the rest of the post is free for characters to post reactions as well as to play out the aftermath.
✽ As a general guideline, the dropped characters look the same as originally, aside from yellow eyes, and the way they move is haltingly, as if they're resisting the compulsion to murder. It is a compulsion, though! So if both Ishimaru and Madison refuse to fight each other, they'll just get stabbed by somebody else.
✽ The execution will end once there is only one person left, after which the door will allow them back inside the school. Before then, the doors and windows are locked, and trying to escape the courtyard will result in loss of consciousness, with enough warning to turn back. The moment there is one survivor left, the npc students go home, as the position is won by default. Congrats! Hope it was worth it.

He'll need a lot of help, but I believe it shouldn't be long until he's back on his feet.

( besides who know if student council wastes no time in putting them into their position, but komaeda does wonder mentally for him. if he was like he was in his youth, he wouldn't have cared too much of the outcome, but now he notices even more, curious how one will react towards achieving their hope. if the other died, he would have lost everything, and yet he fought until the end, overcoming madison's power, indulging in her death, and using that to aspire to greater heights. )

As long as he has his companions by his side, as long as he knows that what he did was right... he'll have no difficulties.

( because that's the thing about hope, no matter who is in the way, no matter what dead leaves must be plucked, or what bad things are to be done — as long as it's for hope, it's right, and it's the absolute good. old habits die hard, and these specific ones for komaeda aren't something he can get rid of, they're what shaped his life. )

This sort of hope may be hard for him to accept, but you know him enough to make that judgement.

[ He's concerned about the time frame, but he thought about what he knew of Ishimaru, including his reaction to the last time things had gotten emotionally difficult for him. He did recall he managed to put himself together, but...

The first kill was always hard. After that, however, it got easier. So, finally he reconciled Komaeda's response that he'll make a swift recovery, and nodded. He will see it for himself, granted, but it might help that they all knew they couldn't afford to be too upset with themselves regarding their situation. ]

I do, and I also know it is true that he will be able to move forward again. Not to mention, this one will happily be there to assist him in his time of need.

He will, he's an Ultimate after all!

( an ultimate who previously died, but an ultinate regardless who got a second chance at redemptions, and that's more than enough to tell him that he should have lived before. there's a smile on komaeda's face as he looks towards meng yao, and with a chuckle. ) Not too many people believed in him, but you did...

( so komaeda believes that the other has made a place beside ishimaru, and he doesn't think too good of so many untalented people — count yourself lucky. )

I wonder... could Ishimaru-kun be your Symbol of Hope as well?

[ He pursed his lips for a bit.

An "Ultimate"... ]

He's my friend, so that's why I had faith in him. And as long as it's possible, I will ensure it'll stay that way.

[ There's a pause as he considered his next words carefully. He couldn't shake his head because he was given hope by having someone he felt he could believe in in the first place. But at the same time...would he be elevating Ishimaru on too much of a pedestal by saying so? He didn't know. But did it really matter, as long as they could rely on each other? ]

That might be the case, but I wouldn't dare to pin all of my hopes on just one person.

( "he's my friend", and komaeda thinks about those choice of words for a moment — people who lack talent are pretty bold in their statements, but there's one thing that stops him from commenting on it. the fact that he looks up to ishimaru as hope is enough to quell any of his louder thoughts, and instead he continues to carry on with their conversation. )

There's many Ultimates here, and all of them a Symbol of Hope! They're people to be proud of...

( holding up his prosthetic hand, he motions towards ishimaru valiant attempt at subduing his enemy, the way her body rests lifeless against the ground. for a moment, komaeda wonders why the blood doesn't send them to the reverse world, nd if this makes the outside not part of the school's grounds. without any hesitation, he begins to clap, albiet slowly because one arm is weaker than the other, to show his support to ishimaru. even if it's through his tears, he proved himself to the others who thought so low of him as if he couldn't make it. )

You use every ounce of your hope to feed his hope, that way you're not pinning everything on him... ahaha...

( besides, they're the fertilizer who feed into their hope, nothing more and nothing less. )

I see...

[ So to Komaeda all Ultimates were "Symbols of Hope".

He re-examined the male in front of him some more, wondering what exactly lead him to such thoughts. It's dangerous, to have those sorts of thoughts for people. But conversely, they did need people they could depend on, he just was a little concerned this wasn't exactly a healthy way to go about it.

His brown eyes locked onto the prosthetic hand and he watched as Ishimaru finished the job completely. It's awful, but a sense of satisfaction filled him at that. Maybe that's why he didn't object to the other clapping, however he's never been the type to do anything like that.

Soon, once he had the chance he will attend to Ishimaru.

But, his eyes slide back over to Komaeda as he made that comment, expression blank, but with a sense of curiosity as he tilted his head. ]

Maybe so. But...I have to wonder, with all of this talk of "Ultimates", if you are actually one yourself? After all, you seem to be rather knowledgeable about them.

( komaeda's excitement dies down as the other becomes curious about him, and he sighs in response since he believes their conversation has hit a dead end. it was more progressive when they spoke about ishimaru's well-being, and how radiant he is as an ultimate. to leave something like that to question himself on whether he's one or not, he can't help but become a little upset. it shows on his face easily, and the way he tries to cross his arms (his right struggles slightly from pain, so he uses the left to hold it up when placing them in front of his chest).

his eyes now fall to the ground. )

Someone like me... can't even be considered an Ultimate with this lackluster talent of mine...

( with this said, he shakes his head to recover from the excruciating blow he gives himself. it doesn't take long for him to smile again once he comes to realize what he believes to be the truth. while he thinks poorly of his own talent, that doesn't mean he doesn't play a role in the scheme of things. he brings his eyes up to look meng yao in the face, seeing the curiosity written all over it, and he laughs airily with his attempt at damage control. )

No worries, there's nothing wrong with the role we play in helping them, though! Isn't it exciting?

[ That kind of answered it, maybe? Komaeda still had such a lowly opinion of himself, however, and that in of itself was mind boggling. The others were "Ultimates" too, after all, if him stating he had a talent made him one too, that is.

It wasn't like he really made it his mission to understand him, but he wasn't going to keep him only in his peripheral vision anymore. The problem was that he doubted the other would talk about himself so easily, as exemplified in the way he he just phrased his words following the way he had put himself down. But for now, he put that aside to possibly tackle later, and allowed other thoughts to filter in.

It's strange, being in a place like this...he was sure he could trust nobody, and with those hallucinations, he thought he'd break down. But even after feeling some inner turmoil regarding what the other had said, it's somehow made him realize some things, and become a little more sure of himself.

So for now, he looked away from him, and back to Ishimaru. He smiled sadly, but there was a nod. ]

I've always been happy to help others. But, I've been happier and more content when it means that person too could be happy...so when that is possible, I think that's when I can consider it more exciting.

Especially for people like Ishimaru-xiong, who treats others as they should be treated, who always works hard, and who has kept moving forward, despite his struggles.

[ Then he turned to Komaeda, and did a small bow because he couldn't keep Ishimaru waiting. ]

Thank you for speaking with this one. I believe it's time for me to play that 'role' of mine, and help him. I look forward to the next time we speak.

[ Then with a small smile that was less sad, he took his leave, running to try to meet up with Ishimaru, as soon as possible. ]
