Natsume is not one to shed the blood of innocents if he can help it, and from the moment Chiaki had said what she wanted — his mind had flipped to what he could do about this. There's no way Izumi would agree to love Chiaki - or Natsume, for that matter, and he isn't interested in his senior anyway - and the literal is... less than ideal.

He goes to Izumi's classroom during lunch and sets down some craft items: scissors, construction paper, coloring pencils.

And, somewhat helpfully, a picture of an anatomically correct heart taken on the smartphone he'd recently found in his locker. Going by the obnoxiously neon green case, it's obvious that it's his own. )

I'm making good on that favor you owe ME. ( For helping him out of his shoelace thing — ) Give me your HEART.

( Pause. Tap taps the paper. )

( Sometimes you're bored and you want to fuck with the unfairly pretty boy you hold a petty grudge against, and you think, "You know what would be embarrassing? If he got wet."

So with some carefully laid plans (string, several paper cups of water in a line above the home ec door, the knowledge that this long after school the only people who are still around are students like him), Natsume's waiting... waiting... and when he sees a shadow in the doorway, stepping in, he pulls the string to make the water fall.

It'll be funny even if it isn't Hajun who he catches anyway, unless it's Stephanie or Nene or Hiro. He'd feel kind of bad for any of them then ngl — )

( unfortunately for natsume, he's about to feel really bad. for an... abundance of reasons, nene doesn't look up as she's walking. she doesn't think to, especially as she opens the door- it's only when the water soaks her hair and hits her neck that she jolts upright. )

( and then she realizes far too late, as the water drips onto her face and the familiar rapid clacking of pale pink scales appearing sounds off, that she might be in a bit of a pickle. almost immediately, she covers her face in her hands- more scales appear there, too- and backs up again to- to what? she's not sure, actually. panic is kind of scattering her thoughts to all four winds. )

[ the sheer audacity. izumi was just about to stand up from his seat only for his UNDERclassman to stop him in his steps... the annoyance in his face couldn't be more clearer if he tried.

he raises a brow at natsume, because of course. ]

And what makes you think I can just let you have it, let alone draw it for you? Don't tell me I'm your type all along, Sakasaki. You could afford to be far more discreet than this.

( okay? but it's mostly rhetorical, one of his hands moving to touch the back of hers— how quick— water and scales, like a mermaid... he pulls her to the crafty side of the home ec room, grabbing fabric. maybe if he dries her, she'll be alright, and he's already tossing it over her head to rub her hair. uff. his voice drops lower, more hurried, the same volume and one he'd cast when he'd said those magic words to her but so much more rushed now, remorse bleeding through consonants and vowels. ) ≪I'm sorry, I really am — I hadn't meant for you to get caught in such a cruel and thoughtless prank, I promise!≫

The passport is coming from Arata-senpai; she's getting one as WELL, for our honeymoon trip to Guam and Saransk after our soon-to-be-a-success forest date this summer BREAK.

( natsume holding her shoulders, herding her back to the fabric and doing his best to help- each action is more grounding than the last. it puts a stop to a thousand racing thoughts at once, leaving... well, not much else. dialup noises, maybe? as the fabric presses against her, she looks up at him with wide eyes between parted fingers. a few scales flutter off for his efforts. )

( did... he? do this? what- what if- no, he's apologizing- but she hadn't even let kou-kun know, and he did know about the supernatural. but after a moment of staring dumbly, nene all but lunges, pressing her face into his chest and capturing him in a hug. he's forgiven. but also... she needs it too. )

natsume is not good with physical contact, but nene reminds him much of sora, the same way stephanie does: young and small and someone he'd like to protect, with a childish innocence and earnestness that draws happiness to them like moths to a flame. he's tense for a moment, but only that, as he continues rubbing her dry - a little less hurried and in longer, calming motions, his other arm going around her middle to hug her back. )

...There THERE, ( like she's the one in need of comfort. he can recognize by how quick she was to hug him that she might need it a little, even more than just an apology. he rests his head against hers, exhaling slowly. and, less rhetorically: ) Are you oKAY, Little Lamb? I'm sure I gave you quite the FRIGHT.

( and also, the scales, but he doesn't know how to bring those up. )

( after a moment of quiet, she finally raises her voice, moving one hand to wipe at one of her eyes, a few more scales falling back down. )

And you're confident enough to think that I'm just going to give you that. I know that we're not the least bit close, Sakasaki, even if we're under the same agency, but you can't be that stupid. And also, how do you know that they're going to keep their end of the bargain? There's no fucking way they're giving out those get-out-ofjail-free cards without consequence.
