June 5th, 4pm-ish [closed to Shuichi]
Moving through the crawlspace remains Kokichi's favored way to poke around quietly. One might think he'd have lost his taste for it, after that first encounter with Komaeda and all the signs of past murder up there, but...well, frankly, nowhere in this school is safe. At least this narrows down the list of potential threats to just those willing to crawl around up here. It's usually pretty uneventful (provided he avoids certain freaks).
Except he slipped up this time. Probably an exposed screw or a jagged splinter โ it's hard to tell in the dark when navigating by PDA light. Whatever it is, there's a small, sharp little stab of pain across his shin. Biting back a curse, he pauses to inspect the injury. Nothing significant, just a tiny tear in his pantleg and a small scratch beneath it. Only worrisome for the potential of infection, or a trip to the fucking void if any blood wells up and drips.
He frowns, rucking his pantleg up so it's covered by untorn fabric. Just in case. He'll get out of here and take care of it properly.
Except then there's another burst of pain at his upper arm, and he hasn't even started moving yet.
Jaw tensing, his free hand darts up to grab at the throbbing spot while the other swings the PDA around in search of a rat or something that must had scratched him. There's nothing. And yet, there's definitely warm wetness under his hand, notably larger than the little cut on his leg.
He freezes a moment longer, as if wary of antagonizing whatever the culprit is.
It doesn't help.
Another bite of pain โ what feels like an actual bite, sharp points spread too wide for a fucking rat, the pressure of something clamping down around his ankle โ and he can't muffle this curse that escapes him this time. He kicks blindly even as he points the light of the PDA, and he feels his foot make contact with something but nothing's there. Yet he can feel something crawling over his foot regardless, so clearly sight isn't reliable right now.
Kokichi grits his teeth as he kicks again, quickly mapping out his current location. He should be above a classroom right now, so...
Fuck it. Tidy escapes are for when invisible things aren't trying to kill him.
He kicks again at seemingly empty space to ward off whatever the thing(s?) in question are while driving an elbow down into the ceiling tile in front of him. He doesn't care if it break right now โ and it does, on the second hit, cracking and dropping from its frame and spilling moonlight up into the crawlspace from the room below. Kokichi doesn't wait before pulling himself through to swing down out into the larger space.]

Whoa...!?
[ He almost yelps out loud, a strangled response that's only choked back in his throat partway through and then covered up by the louder crash of the tile as it crumbles across a desk. A cloud of dust rises quickly into the air, and even past the forearm he managed to lift by reflex, it stings at his eyes and he stops to cough. Somewhere in the middle, he realizes, he stood up without meaning to, and the pen falls from his fingers to roll across the floor. He barely minds it right now, rushing closer to the gap he can see in the ceiling.
And then, there's the familiar figure climbing out. ]
O-Ouma-kun!? What in the world are you--
[ The very next moment, he sees it -- the flash of red from the other's clothes, though it isn't that clear in motion so as to pinpoint what did it. But there's still only one possibility that stands out. ]
Y-You're injured!?
[ It's enough to have Shuichi run over the rest of the distance, fueled by sheer panic as he reaches to help Ouma not fall from the desks once he lands. It isn't an elegant process -- just one hand on whatever he catches of the other's back, and the second scrambling hurriedly to grip fabric around his arm, or maybe act as a lifeline for Ouma himself to grab onto if he can. The only thing he can think of, really, is not letting him fall; the rest can come after. ]

Kokichi's righting himself from his rapid tumblr out of the ceiling crawlspace when there's suddenly someone in his personal space, a hand grabbing at his arm making him wince as it jostles the new injury. And looking up, an expression of horror briefly crosses his face. Apparently, he is in fact the most unlucky person on earth, because this is the last person he wanted to run into right now.
It's not about avoidance or anything like that. Shuichi's immediately fussing and Kokichi can't even appreciate it, eyes darting up to the hole in the ceiling and ears straining for any sign he was followed. He still sees nothing, but his worst fears are confirmed anyway when one of the ceiling tile shards suddenly whips through the air at them.]
Shitโ
[Kokichi ducks to dodge it, blindly grabbing at Shuichi to try to tug him out of the way as well. And then he's moving, no time to respond properly or check if Shuichi's alright. He grabs the other's hand and bolts for the door, dragging the detective along with him.]
Second week of June [closed to Nene]
Just after school, while clubs are getting started, one might spot a few random students walking by completely soaked. Huh. Odd. But hey, it's super hot lately, so maybe they were having a water fight or something to cool down?
In reality, Kokichi's set up a lil prank by the door to the stairwell. It's pretty much the basic "bucket of water on the door" trick, except better because he'd never be that basic. For one thing, the bucket in question is one of those big mop buckets on wheels. More water will just cool people down even more, right? And in addition, the moo bucket has been rigged to tip as the door opens and spill its load, but the bucket itself is fastened up there pretty securely. He doesn't actually wanna hurt anyone with a falling bucket, after all.
Anyway, he's just finished sopping up the evidence of his last victim and refilling the bucket. Now to hide and wait.]

not to mention she's just a happy-go-lucky kind of gal in general.
so despite having experienced a sudden splash of water from above, she really doesn't think that it'd happen a second time. why would it? it's only when she hears the bottom of the bucket hit the wall and the sound of water flowing that she realizes- too little too late, however, because she can't step out of the way in time. over the clacking clatter of pink scales bursting forth, one might be able to hear a cry of dismay- )
NOT AGAIN!
( only this time, it's far too much- and suddenly the world is so much bigger and she cannot breathe.
enjoy your new gold/beta? fish, kokichi, but don't expect answers just yet, because the impact of hitting the floor has knocked her right out. )

(No, probably not that last one.)
What he wasn't expecting, though, was for her to just...disappear. Water falling one second and then suddenly Nene was just gone. From his hiding spot, Kokichi blinks at the place where Nene had been standing a moment before. His eyebrows furrow, perplexed, and he carefully approaches the spot to investigate. And in the middle of the puddle of water is...
A fish.
......What the fuck???]
...Yashiro-chan?
[ uhhhhhh?????? fish??????? ]

thankfully, she's not knocked out for too long... but when she does manage to open her eyes, everything is still huge, and someone is nearby- hanako-kun? no- no, this wasn't... it was ouma-kun looming over her, utterly baffled.
well. fuck.
e-even then, though, it could be worse! the cats could be here! o-or komaeda-san could decide that fish was great for fueling hope! or- or- no, she needed to focus on the important thing: the reality of the situation. )
... This is the worst.
( yeah, that sure is her voice! ouma-kun might even hear her sighing- and it is definitely coming from the fish, kokichi- but... it. shouldn't be too long? since she's not still submerged.
she thinks. she needs to stop being unconscious for her kidnappings and stuff, jeeze- )

The baffled expression recedes into something more blank and impenetrable as he stares at the fish. The fish that is talking with Nene's voice. The options are either that Nene was vanished through some trick and a fish (potentially robotic or something) was left in her place and some trick was being used to make it sound like her, or. Well.
She just turned into a fish.
A slight frown crosses his face, and he pokes the fish. Just checking to see if it feels like a real fish.]
Huh.
[Yeah, those...sure do feel like real wet scales, and the weight doesn't seem off from what he'd expect of a fish.]
...Is Yashiro-chan gonna suffocate if I don't get some water real quick?
tfw the artist never shows the process of turning back and forth between fish and human smh
A-Ah, no-- just, um, give me a bit...
( admittedly, breathing was. very difficult with only half her gills making contact with water, but she absolutely did not want to stay a fish and she also did not want people knowing they could keep her as a fish. it just wasn't good information to keep in the open! especially because it made her more portable than ever!
but with the heat of the month, and only one side of her was still making direct contact with the puddle... when kokichi blinks next, nene yashiro will be back to normal, laying somewhat in a daze on the floor.... with pale pink scales littering her arms, legs and face in patches. there's definitely more unseen, but that's a bit beside the point. eventually, she forces herself to sit up, but every shift that forces drier skin to contact the water comes with a soft clatter of more scales emerging. )
... I-If the water dries up enough I turn back.
( which does explain the shift, but not much else... she's really gonna make him ask for answers, huh? )
Re: tfw the artist never shows the process of turning back and forth between fish and human smh
Kokichi pokes her again, in the arm this time. Mostly just checking that she's real, but also kinda seeing if those scales are legit, too.]
That's one hell of a magic trick.
[It's dry, and his expression is hard to read. Flat enough that it almost seems unimpressed, but that's not quite it...]

Not exactly the best for parties.
( but what is she supposed to do? he knows now. and if she tries to leave, where can she go? it's not like she could evade him forever. after a moment of quiet, trying to figure out what's going to happen next, nene stands up with a sigh, because... well. sitting in the water when it makes you grow scales is uncomfortable. )
... If you have questions... can we talk somewhere more private?
June 2nd
Hey there, do you think you can help me with this?
