[ The following half-cryptic message goes up in the early morning before class, at the exact same time as two people are let into the faculty office to talk to the Vice Principal. ]

Sorry. I should have told everyone a lot sooner.
I know that.
But... if I did that, there was a chance it might have become about the merit points. And no matter what, I wanted to prevent that at any cost.

The person who did it might have been wrong... but they're still an important friend that we lived with.
That's something that shouldn't be reduced to a number.
The fact that it can be is what's messed up in the first place.
So maybe I wanted it to be a message. Not only for that person, but for the rest of us too.

[ There's no further explanation that follows, and any comments, no matter how important, will obviously not be answered for at least a few hours, depending on how things settle. ]

It's a bright and sunny day. The heat is unbearable, with sunlight reflecting off the whites of the outer walls of the school building and seeming to concentrate right in the middle of the courtyard where it comes off the concrete in waves. In desperation for a breeze, you open a window— or perhaps you can't, and simply rattle the window latch futilely— when something large and black falls from the sky and smacks into the pavement, black turned red turned nausea and vertigo and the consequential darkness of the school when a blood sacrifice has been observed.

Black shadows students start to converge upon the body in the courtyard, although their efforts to drag the body into the expanding void in the auditorium can be thwarted by breaking a mirror and returning to reality— just in time to see a second body hit the pavement in the courtyard and send you right back. Escape once more and... a third body hits the ground, bright blue eyes staring lifelessly up at the sky above.

The sky stares back, dark storm clouds gathering in the horizon. Tonight, and through the weekend, it will rain.

✽ Please use the toplevels below for investigations. For some semblance of organization, there will be a separate toplevel for body investigation, location investigation, and suspect investigation, as well as one for general questions.
✽ As a reminder, npc students can open/close any window; pc students in classes with at least one rank (3-A, 3-B, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, and all of the first year classes) can open/close windows in 1-B, 1-D, and 2-C; and pc students in classes that gained at least one rank in the past month (3-A, 2-C, 2-D, 2-E, 1-B, 1-D, and 1-E) can exit through the courtyard-facing window in 1-D.
✽ Unless there's an ic reason to argue otherwise, npc faculty will remove all three bodies by the end of the day.

In that case, lets show some tact by interrupting the very visibly distressed students! Amami's going to knock on the door when he peeks in to see them, ask if he can come in. He's going to try to be very sensitive to them going thru it in his approach, but he'll also try to get around to asking them how much of the fall they saw/if they saw it, anything strange they might have seen/heard (or heard about) in the last hour, and if they know of anybody else who was on this floor.

They're going to cry at him instead, now, saying that they didn't see the fall and only looked outside when they heard noise out in the courtyard and came running into the classroom to see what happened. That's Sena out there, isn't it? Their classmate. He had left right after class, and they didn't think that would be the last time they saw him alive. Other than that, they didn't notice much of anybody else besides Hikaru's unofficial """club""" that seems to migrate from place to place depending on where there's an unoccupied classroom to hang out, since most clubs let out early or people don't attend on Saturdays so students get a longer weekend.

Listen they deserve their cry they're having a time right now so Amami will be really patient about it... It is Sena-kun, and he looks pretty upset about the fact too, but he's going to tell them that they're going to find out how this happened(/who did this). He's also going to thank them and ask for their names so he can remember them for later.

They're both in tears and ask Amami if he will avenge Sena's death for them )'': Revengeeee
Their names are Asuka and Naomi and please do not expect me to remember these names

They'll make sure there's justice for Sena-kun, that's for sure. But after a little bit of making sure Asuka and Naomi are otherwise okay and maybe helping them calm down some, he's gonna head back out into the hallway for now and let Saihara know what they told him through the walkies. He'll also peek into 1-B again. With a cursory glance, any spare candles that aren't arranged in the circle, or just the circle ones?

Good. They expect a public hanging but do not tell Amami this.

There aren't any spare candles lying around in 1-B, just the ones on top of the desks. There are six desks arranged in a circle, each with a single unlit candle sitting on top of them, and papers/pencils set on top of four of those desks that suggests there were four people sitting there.

You know what? Good for them. They can do it themselves when the culprit's discovered :)

Anyway, in 1-B Amami's just going to borrow one of these candles and keep on his way. He's assuming that the, uh, cult... will probably have a source to replenish them from that transfers don't, so it's probably fine.

And when Saihara relays his suggestions, Amami continues his route — he's going to return to the hall and then back into the now presumably empty 1-D while taking a close look at the ceilings for any signs of the tiles being disrupted, maybe occasionally checking the floor for debris. If there's nothing between the two, I LIED and he's going to see Saihara standing outside looking helpless and help him back in through the window before going any further.

You're right, they're going to avenge Sena themselves

The cult will be sad that somebody stole from them but they can replenish the candles so they won't feel too bad, it's all good

AND YEAH, PLEASE HELP HIM UP BEFORE CHIAKI GETS THERE
There is no disturbed tiles on the ceiling or remarkable debris on the floor in 1-D

Good for them!! They have names now, nothing can stop them!!

Anyway, now that Saihara's up they can both head over to the 1-D bathroom for real. Amami's still going to be keeping an eye on the ceiling the whole way there, and once they presumably go in, too. Anything that stands out at a glance?

Amami opens the door, and with his eyes on the ceiling he misses a little black cat come running out of the bathroom, swiping at his pants enough to snag the fabric but not draw blood.

There is nothing out of place in regards to the ceiling tiles in the bathroom or on the way there. The sink basin closest to the door is wet, and if he checks the trashcan in the bathroom he'll find used paper towels, some snot crusted tissues, an empty water bottle, and some cigarette stubs. There is no blood on anything inside.

BEV!!! Okay but unless Saihara has his eye out for something specific, I think that's us for now — thank you!!

Comes back... I was waiting to give more people time to catch up (and do stuff), but okay, considering "Bev" led him and Izumi+Komaeda to a clue that ended up being relevant last time, Shuichi is probably going to try and follow the black cat again for a bit. (Why was it trapped in the bathroom anyway??)

Where does it go... also tbh how can he apologize to it after The Boxing...

Shuichi can follow it down the hall but after a while it seems as if it's just intent on getting as far away as him as possible, straight down the hall and trying to squeeze under the doors to bypass them. Depending on how long Shuichi will tail it, it travels down the fourth floor hallway down the stairs to the second floor and attempts to hide in class 3-B with the spiders. It universally doesn't not seem to like being around people and won't lead him to any more pertinent clues.

Enh said "bevtrayed" and I think that deserved to be shared but anyway, okay, Bev is a mood so Shuichi does feel bad about the box though and will leave a treat (like, idk, smoked fish) for it somewhere... on the floor of the classroom... and then let it be. Who will get to it first, the cat or the spiders? This is one of those vague endings where the reader gets to decide.

Bev will eat any spiders that try to get at the fish
it will only eat half the fish, though... at some point Lily May will wander up and finish the rest
