I. GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE

[ His world realigns itself slowly; head underwater, breathing slow and even. Akira is standing in the hallway with no memories of coming here -- at least not immediately, but when it comes together in pieces he feels as if his body was being controlled by an entirely different person. That was his first concern and primary catalyst of his anger that begins to spread from the back of his head and down his neck.

The sound of glass shattering has him instinctively flexing his fingers. Ensuring he can move, tensing up the muscles of his arms, and sighing out a breath akin to relief when he looks behind his shoulder and sees no immediate danger.

Then again, when expecting a ghost, how knows if they're there or not. Akira has learned by now to be cautious even in his own house. ]

... Dammit. [ He looks at his hands, notices there's no blood. That memory wasn't his own... so was it something that had to deal with his bloodmetry?

Akira takes an unconscious step forward, hearing the sound of glass beginning to crack underneath his weight before he lifts his foot. He pauses, canting his head slightly once he notices the broken test tube on the floor and clicks his tongue. ] Who the fuck is throwing this shit around?

[ Because obviously HE didn't drop it -- which means you, unlucky passerby, are the prime subject. ]

[ Later into the evening Akira can be found by the vending machine. At this point he's probably overheard the talk of a murder, and assumes that this place is some sick place in hell that Kakuya has dragged him into, so he's just... mad. As per usual.

He's trying to get a drink and realizes that he must have been sleeping every day since he's been here during class cause he has virtually no merit points. He kicks the glass, getting annoyed, and just as he's about to turn and go away he pushes a random button and this drops.

He holds the drink his hand, a look of absolute disgust evident in his face as he hears someone approaching. His expression doesn't change, but he's quick to extend his arm out and hand the beverage off to the next person: ] Here.

[ Hikaru knocks on the home ec door and pokes their head in... two hours later. Because it is a Sunday and they have to ride their bike to school and vault the gates. ]

[bloodmetries]

[ NOT HIKARU GOING THROUGH IT ALL JUST FOR (THE COOLER) AKIRA!!

But Akira is there, seated, looking up from his PDA in annoyance. ]

… [ His lips press together into a line, looking the other up once. Sizing them up. He can take ‘em in a fight. ] Why are you sweating?

[adsum]

It's— [ huff puff ] —like a hundred degrees out!

[ It's hot! They biked two hours, and forest isn't a forgiving terrain. So yeah, Akira can beat them up, but they're short and out of breath and it wouldn't be much of a fight.

Hikaru leans their hands on the desk next to Akira's to rest, peering at the device in his hands. ]

Is it okay?

[bloodmetries]

[ Biking for two hours in a hundred degrees... the dedication.

Akira tilts his head, showing the mess on his PDA without any concern; a bunch of gibberish, everything spaced awkwardly, like he's an old man who can't read text. ] It seems fine? But I ain't ever had shit like this before, it costs too much.

[adsum]

[ Maybe it wouldn't've taken two hours if it weren't a hundred degrees out. But Hikaru mirrors that head tilt, looking at the screen and then up at Akira when he calls this "fine" ]

It is pretty expensive, but are you sure it's fine? Is that thing still inside, or did you get it out already?

[bloodmetries]

Thing?

[ Akira, again, is fucking dumb as hell. ]

... Are you talkin' about Kakuya? I'm pretty sure she can't get in this.

[ And, as if prompted, he chucks the PDA against the wall. ]

[adsum]

Kakuya? Is that her na— hey!

[ They lean forward to catch the PDA, but they're too late; it slams into the wall and dents the wall, the decide tougher than it looks. It has to be, to withstand 3+ years of high school.

Hikaru runs over to the PDA, handhovers over it for a moment, then steels themselves and picks it up. The screen had gone blank. ]

Oh... I don't think you should have done that. This thing had something in it, and it might be angry now.

[bloodmetries]

So it'll just haunt me, right?

[ Akira asks with nonchalance, sitting at his desk without a care in the world. Honestly speaking, he's suspected that the worst is to come and he needs to actually consider how to handle it... and he assumes that tackling it head on, similar to how he did back home, is the best option.

So yeah if a ghost came he'd find a way to fuck it up. ]

All I gotta do is purify the damn thing.

[adsum]

[ Wha... wow... There's a ghost in his PDA and he continues to be unflappable. How cool... ]

Do you... Are you good at that sort of thing? Can you do it with just one or two people? I'm still learning, but if there's any way I can help...!

[bloodmetries]

[ So in conclusion: they're both stupid. ]

What are you asking me right now? [ Ugh... companionship? In this world? ] I'm not a pro or anything... It's just shit that I had to do.

[ Because of a doll and his stupid dad. Can't pay for child support but will leave him to do all the heavy lifting to ensure an evil spirit doesn't come to haunt everyone! ]

Don't tell me you're one of those occult freaks, too.

[adsum]

I'm not a freak... geez.

[ Maybe cult shit is a little freaky to some people, but that's only because they don't understand it. But "too" implies Akira is as well— there seems to be a lot of people here like that, actually, who are interested in the same sort of thing but don't want to get indoctrinated into the cult? Now that's weird. ]

Sometimes, when you think you know how to do something but you don't have enough experience, things go wrong and get out of hand and people get hurt, and I don't want that to happen again. So I'm asking 'cause if you're better at it than me, you should do it.

[bloodmetries]

[ He should really start specifying that his friends are into this cult stuff, not him. Kaoru would be having a field day; running around with joy, exhausting everyone with her questions and getting her fill of the paranormal and begging for some contact. Akira misses that energy already, and has been for a weeks now. ]

"Get hurt". [ He repeats, glaring down at the PDA. ] I'm not here to do any of that summonin' bullshit, if that's what you're asking. Nothing good comes from trying to make deals with spirits -- you're just gonna end up with something that'll haunt your ass even when you're in grave.

[adsum]

No, no, it's already been summoned! See—

[ Oh. The screen's blank, but Hikaru pulls out their own PDA and unlocks it with their thumb, opening up the message board and shows Akira his poor excuse for communication. ]

It's already possessed by something! Our job's to un-summon it! No deals! Just make it go "poof"!

[bloodmetries]

[ b........ bro... ]

That? [ He points at the screen. ] That was me, though?

[adsum]

[ ...

bro... ]

You...? You're possessed? Are you sure?

[ Oh no. A possessed person is a lot harder to deal with than a possessed object. They might need to call Lucifer-senpai for backup. ]

I'm not possessed.

[ He says, pausing briefly. Akira stands up on his feet before blinking slowly at the other student. ]

I'm gonna hit you. [ Said as a warning -- but Akira doesn't give them any chance to guard themselves before he's drawing his arm back and aiming straight for their stomach. It's not a "finishing blow" but it's obvious that he's... angy. ]

I said I couldn't use the shit, didn't I?

[adsum]

Huh?

[ The warning is just enough time to utter a single word, but at least that saves them the trouble of getting the air knocked out of them, though they do still go crashing down onto the ground, falling hard on their ass and blinking up at Akira in more shock than pain, fighting the nausea that has to subside before they can draw breath again. ]

W-why...?

[bloodmetries]

I got irritated.

[ Said plainly. Like it's absolutely normal for you to just start throwing hands with a complete stranger -- at least he didn't aim to knock him out, like he did Maruhashi. ]

But how am I gonna fix that? [ He points at his PDA. ]

[adsum]

[ Again, "wow" is the word that crosses their mind, but for a different reason. The need to be helpful is still strong, though, so while they don't get up off the floor and instead just sort of clutch the nearby desk leg and hide behind that, they do peer over at the PDA— their own too, which they dropped when they got punched and that gets retrieved. ]

The screen's blank 'cause it's off... Try placing your thumb on that little over on the bottom again, and see if it lights up.

[bloodmetries]

[ Akira watches as they scramble to hide behind a desk. Eyes moving slowly across the wooden floor, noticing both PDAs, and squats down to pick them both up. ]

Oh. [ As instructed, Akira takes his own PDA and holds it over the button; he's a little skeptical, but then again he's done the same with his one phone and that brick always managed to turn back on...

And it does. ]

I must've not thrown it hard enough.

[adsum]

Um.

[ Nonono, don't take theirs... ]

You just said you wanted to fix it. Throwing it's the opposite of fixing.

[bloodmetries]

[ He's gonna take it. ]

I meant earlier. Like I didn't throw it hard enough to break it, fortunately -- [ And he gives them a death glare. ] No thanks to you.

[adsum]

[ No!!! Hikaru puffs up a little, stepping up to Akira so he can ...maybe take their PDA back, they didn't actually think that far and stops just out of arm's reach like they know what's going to happen if they take another step ]

I wasn't the one who made you throw it! I just wanted to help!

[bloodmetries]

[ They stop their hand in front of him, and Akira looks down at it.

Are they trying to hit him? Are they scared? Should he just break their fingers and assert dominance? ]

You didn't help at all. [ He chooses to be a little sane and just... holds Hikaru's hand. Their PDA in the other.

Canting his head, he's obviously questioning their intentions while looking like a well-trained dog. You can thank Seiji, wherever he is... ]

[ They thought about hitting but stopped because they are scared, yes, but nothing is as terrifying as having their hand held all of the sudden, taken aback enough that they don't even reach for the PDA that's right there. ]

...Oh. I'm sorry.
