August Event
Please let August be better than July I'm begging
✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the storeis currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

[ Mostly because... he thinks he had memories of this place, but at least hearing someone else say that he's out of place helps solidify what he thought. That he doesn't belong here. ]
Probably because I just arrived here... perhaps.
[ Sorry, he doesn't have an answer, he didn't expect someone to be here let alone take him seriously - and he still looks shifty, glancing around the room this way and that, but regardless he's stepping further in with more confidence - her presence is reassuring in a way, so he decides to try his luck and ask more. ]
Is this your club room?

( OMINOUS, THANKS NENE. but it's true, ultimately. if he's trapped here now, acting like this... he's one of them, now. and on some level, this sort of makes them different people now, too. still, nene shakes her head. )
No, I think the um... robotics club meets here, though? When they're not here, I like to sew! My club is the gardening club in 3-E, actually.
I'm Nene Yashiro. It's nice to meet you.

[ WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN... Akira's not sure how to ask - whether Nene is just playing along with his antics, or she really means that. He gets that he ran around under an alternate persona back home but it's not like she should have anything to do with that... anyway, he's not going to take credit for whatever 'other state' Akira did and she's... probably just joking, right. ]
Nice to meet you, too.
[ Despite the defective start he seems to be easing up, taking quiet interest in the work she's doing. ]
Gardening Club, huh... you must be pretty talented. [ Gardening and sewing - he can't say he has any experience in the latter, but the former... ] I only know a little about gardening myself - mostly vegetables.
[ Oh, and that one potted plant that somehow never died in his attic when he would forget to feed it for a month... let's not talk about that. ]

You're here so late because you can't leave through the front doors, right? And you got your memories back? That's what I meant- almost everyone here is like that.
( she really should have said that from the start, honestly- but she perks up at the idea of growing vegetables, as if the first half of this conversation no longer matters. )
I love growing vegetables! Don't get me wrong, flowers are nice- and I've got a potted strawberry bush here now, but vegetables are so much fun. Ah-- I also cook. So, if you get hungry I can whip something up that isn't vending machine snacks.
( this is a far more pleasant subject than, you know, waking up with your true memories mixed in with an average school life in an alien place. she wants to stay on this subject. ... they probably can't, but... )
SO SORRY FOR THE DELAY work ate me :')
It's her eagerness to talk about the other things - the normalcy that draws him in, and he can't help but crack the faintest smile. Her mood is infectious, so he'll keep playing along. ]
Something about getting to eat the things you've put effort into growing... feels like a win to me. Ah, I'm only good at making curry myself though - so I might have to rely on you otherwise.
[ Home cooking... food... right, he hasn't really thought about that since arriving. ... And then it strikes him. ]
... What about coffee?
[ He's probably got enough of a caffeine addiction now that he won't survive without it. And the thought of canned coffee from the vending machine is a little depressing.... ]
YOU'RE GOOD FAM i die for at least a week and a half every month
You're so right! It's great- especially because my veggies always grow a bit bigger than usual? And it's just really satisfying...
( the mention of curries reminds her of a conversation from a long time ago- with a smart man who wanted to help too, to make things last and stay filling with as little excess use as possible.
she misses him.
but she still smiles and nods with a small giggle. )
Curry is good, and it's especially nice when we've got plenty of people to feed. So maybe we can cook together sometime! And I can always teach you- I've been teaching a few people some things here, like Stephanie-chan and Ishimaru-kun sewing, and stuff. As for coffee...
We have some, I think. Hikaru-chan and I needed it when we were making- ( hold on, she's got it in her pockets- and then she takes out a jar full of gummy candies. some are bright and colorful and clearly fruity, and some are a dark, rich brown. ) -these! The dark ones are coffee flavored.

Yeah, I'd be up for that. I'm sure everyone here would appreciate some home cooking when they can get it; and I'm a fast learner, so I'll follow along with whatever you think is best. [ His hand comes up, two fingers pressed against his temple in a far-too-dramatic-for-the-situation salute. Even if his expression stays straight as an arrow as he follows it with; ] Count on me for backup, boss.
[ Somehow he feels his boss at home might be slighted by a teenage girl getting the name instead, but anyway.
His eyes light up behind his calm disposition when the candies come out; it wasn't exactly what he was thinking, but the colouring definitely invokes the rich depth of coffee... and he finds himself drawn to it immediately. His posed hand drops, and instead poises itself above the jar - just inches away from trying to snatch one, but no. He's got to have some manners, he's can't be a thief. (I mean, he is a thief, but not just that, okay?? He won't steal from comrades, and he thinks they can be considered at least that. ) ]
... Can I try one?

Home cooking is a form of love and comfort! It's the least I can do for everyone here. So, on my days to cook, I can come get you if you want? We can cover things from what we've got for right now.
( not that it's a lot, they have to be careful with the stored food... but she's unflinchingly optimistic about their chances. she has to be. it's one thing the school won't take from her, even at her lowest. she'll always get back up again.
and then he almost grabs for the candies, and nene blinks once, twice, thrice, before laughing, holding out the jar for him. )
Help yourself. They came out really good, I think! There's coffee, peach, and mixed berries.

Anyway the boss has given him permission so he won't be shy; his hands graciously accept her offer by plucking one of each flavor, and a couple extra coffee for good measure. Which is unsurprisingly the first he tries; and judging by the blissful look in his eyes behind his calm smile, it hits the spot - the nostalgic flavour of coffee that brings him home. ]
... They're great. You've really got talent.
[ He quietly keeps popping them in his mouth while he's nodded along with her suggestion; feels he owes her one for the candies, he'll definitely have to bring his game to the kitchen. ]
I'll look forward to the invite, then. What's your best specialty dish? If I'm learning from the best, I'd love to try the best, too.
[ Hyping her up like she's a real chef... less flattery will get you everywhere and more Akira is dramatic so everything is extra. Anyway this is the start of their dorm cooking adventure, they need to do this now. ]

nene just beams as he takes a few before screwing the lid back on- but since it seems like it's a big hit, she leaves the jar out with an unspoken offer of more gummies. it'd been a fun day with hikaru, and worth it too. )
Ah- thank you! A friend and I made the berry ones and the coffee ones together, after I made the peach batch as a test.
( that sort of thing is why she loves cooking, and ultimately why she wanted to learn. the happiness others feel when they have something good... the fact that she's the one who brought that bit of joy to light gives her a sense of pride and accomplishment she's not sure she'll ever be able to truly articulate. )
Hmm... Well, I really like baking! But for actual meals, I've taken to curries and stews- they're best for big groups, you know? ( hearty and filling in small servings. ) But if we can go all out, I'd love to make strawberry daifuku or some katsudon again!
( yes those are wildly different types of food, yes they are her favorite. don't @ her. )
Mm... What's something you like but don't know how to make? Maybe we can have that, too.
