August Event
Please let August be better than July I'm begging
✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the storeis currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

[ He's straight faced as he jokes, one hand slips into his pocket casually; truthfully he can take whatever Rantarou or this school throws at him (or at least make a good show of dying trying) -- thinks about how he can play eager new student to dutiful upperclassman Rantarou... except they're in the same grade judging by the class assignments, if that even means anything here. Anyway that doesn't matter, as long as he puts his heart into it they can be anything. ]
Akira Kurusu, class 3-A. ... I think I've gotten a chance to see the general layout of the place.
[ His free hand comes up to toy with the hair on the back of his neck; yeah, he's snuck around enough to at least have an idea of where things are. More importantly... ]
Better to get a personal tour from someone with experience. Favorite spots, secret hideouts... anything out of the ordinary.
[ It's one thing to explore on your own - it's another to see it through the eyes someone who's been here. Teach him your secrets, senpai. ]

Out of the ordinary, huh? Do you already know about the void side of the school?
( which, there's got to be a better name for that, but for now? that seems to be what it goes by with everybody else, so that's what he'll call it by here. it's somewhere you can't get to through normal sneaking, so at least it's got that going for it. )

[ That just sounds... suspiciously like something he would have encountered in his past life of phantom thievery, hate that doesn't even sound that out of the ordinary to him, but he'll show the slightest surprise on his face anyway. Whether it's just part of the game he chose to play or it's actually shocking to him, god only knows. ]
... Can we go see it?
[ Because that's of course the normal, rational response a person would give when presented with such an ominous proposition. Nobody ever knew Akira for top marks in restraint and keeping himself out of trouble though, and there's a curious glint in his eyes behind his calm disposition. You give him somewhere to crawl into and he's going to want to go there - sorry Amami, he's a hands on person, but he'll listen to a sensible explanation too if that's all his teacher can give. Akira's a good student, after all. ]

( granted, he's kind of fixated on the place himself, so the answer comes with an easy smile. )
You don't mind coming upstairs first, do you? I can show you, but it's probably best not to do this on the first floor.
( hence why he's so familiar with the necessary safety measures. amami might be willing to take the risk of camping in normal yogen, but he's not about to take any risks with void kazuki, and having their new transfer student walk back through the doors and straight into the actual void that side of the school is named for doesn't sound so great either. but don't worry, akira — you're with a void-hopping pro, so he'll let you in on all the secrets you could dream of. he's already making his way towards the entrance, glancing back over his shoulder to make sure akira's following. )

[ Whether that's... sarcastic or honest, it's impossible to tell because Akira's expression is straight regardless. Actually, he does think it sounds a little fun. And no more strange than being stuck here - at least a void gives something tangible to the spooky nature of this place. He feels like if he could put his eyes on something like that, it might help him figure out how to challenge this place.
So he does easily follow after Amami - hands in his pockets as if going for a leisurely tour, his gaze dutifully following wherever Amami leads him. ]
Anything I should watch for otherwise?
[ Y'know, like is he going to have to run for his life the moment they land there, does he need to protect himself... do they risk pissing anyone (anything? doubtful everything here is just human) off by going there, which is something Akira's pretty good at but he'd prefer not to get beat up in his first week. Maybe. ]

Things to watch for, huh? I guess there are a couple.
( at this point, there's enough common knowledge among the transfer students that they might forget to mention it if they aren't asked outright, despite that some of it is probably better figured out sooner, rather than later. he's not sure if they're "things to watch for" technically, but they're probably the type of things you wouldn't want to learn through experience if you can help it. he counts on his fingers as he lists them off.
one: ) The only way out is to break a mirror, so keeping one on you isn't a bad idea. ( two: ) Most things you do there will undo once you come back. If you need to treat an injury or anything like that, you need to get out first. ( three: ) ...Don't go into the courtyard.
( hard-learned wisdom that might not all end up being relevant, but if he's asking anyway, it might as well be listed. )

He wants to ask a little more on the injuries front, but then the third fact is dropped and of course his curiosity takes over all else. He's instantly turning his head back in Amami's direction, cocked slightly to the side so that his bangs might slightly hide the interest that shines behind his glasses. ]
... What's in the courtyard?
[ Because Akira's the kind of person who... if you tell him not to do something he will probably try to do it. So it's better that he asks now so he at least knows he's going to die if he goes there, that should be a fair deterrent. ]

( he says it matter-of-factly. like, you know, kazuki-san. we've all seen kazuki-san around, right? a glance over his shoulder shows a telling smile though, clearly pretty aware of this as he goes on to elaborate. )
He's the groundskeeper here. A ghost, I guess? We figured out that you can see him on the full moon as a person, but through this — ( he reaches into his pocket, pulling out a little rock with a hole through the center, ) — the way he looks is a bit more concerning.
( to say the least. either way, they'll reach the top of the stairs soon enough, and amami will wander over to the door that leads to the third year classroom side of the building, holding it open for akira to pass through behind him. )
Well, anyway, I wouldn't want to be stuck out there with him, and I don't recommend you try it either unless you know what you're getting into.

... Got it. I'll keep it equipped.
[ Like this is some kind of RPG and he's got the secret item that will get him through... he is immensely curious to see him, honestly, but he's also not looking forward to dying so he'll listen to instructions. For now, he follows through the opened door, passing into the hallway just slightly ahead of Amami. His head turns this way and that, like he's trying to catch every small detail - even though nothing has changed yet. ]
We doing this at your place or mine?
[ Classroom, he means classroom, but it's more fun to word it that way - he assumes that's what they're aiming for when Amami chose this as their destination. ]

Lets go for yours. Can't wait, and mine's further away, y'know?
( just think of all the extra steps. but yeah, he's dropping his own adderstone back in his pocket, replacing it with his mirror shard instead, and unwrapping that as well as the bandage i'm retconning onto his left hand because i never really thought this through too much. it's fine. )
Anyway, there's a trick to getting there. It's not really fun, but if you set it off, you're headed over whether you like it or not.
( with all of that out of the way, it's easy for him to press one of the corners of the mirror against the side of his hand. he grimaces a bit as the blood begins to well up at the surface of the cut, which amami will hold up to show off as he continues. )
The long and short of it is, if you see blood and you don't want to pay the other side a visit, you'd better shut your eyes.
( and then, as they're reaching the room, he smears the blood against the doorframe. once the red catches akira's eyes, the world folds in and falls apart. )
