Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

[ Crona doesn't know you're supposed to shake hands over a deal, so they just hold up a hand for a high five. Maka showed them that once! ]

That's easy. Most people here look pretty weak if I hit 'em a little. So not killing is fine. [ They pause. ] Does killing get you in trouble? Everyone who killed so far just got yelled at a bit. [ They don't really have any reason to attack anyone, personally but its confusing to see someone so anti-murder. ]

Okay okay. But...If I work for you, can you help me pick out stuff for people now?

[ Oh, oh, they've seen this on tv before. High five! yes! ]

I don't think I'll get in trouble, but if people are dead they can't be my customer, so it's my best interest if people stay alive.

[ It's less anti-murder and more pro-profit, or whatever. Either way, they seem pleased with this arrangement and npc-kun is not one to go back on their deals. ]

But okay, it's gift time! I still think rocks are the way to go, because look at them... they're all unique and nobody can say you're a lazy gift giver when it's all different. But we also have keychains here that are light and easy to carry around, and we'll be able to leave them in people's desks in record time! If you can't decide, we can always go with both options!

Wow. You're smart, person whose name I don't know. I wouldn't have even thought about that.

[ So they should ensure as many people are alive as possible so the shopkeeper can get money from them, so Crona can get gifts for people they like. This works as a functioning moral system, right? ]

How did you know I'm terrible at deciding? I think everyone should get a rock...mhm. Because everyone is special and unique. But if you can give me some keychains, maybe I can put those in my friends lockers before the rocks happen. Counting out seventy fifty hundred rocks will take a while, right?

[ They're going to have to continue being shopkeep-kun to everybody else, though. Gotta bribe their name out of them. ]

So if you ever need to decide anything, you can come to me. For the rocks, we'll just take 'em all. I'm sure I have more than seventy fifty hundred, so whatever's left over will go back to the shop. How many friends do you have?

[ They don't have nearly as many keychains, so hopefully Crona doesn't have seventy fifty hundred friends. ]

The smartest [ Nodding. They honestly won't bother getting that name but this puts npc-kun at greater and greater risk of Crona just deciding a weird nickname. ]

I have a lot of people to get opinions from now, sorry. I think if I get to many opinions in my head I might explode...

[ They don't have seventy fifty hundred friends...yet. Give me a year to get them a social circle that big. ]

Oh, right! Sorry I got distracted. I need one for Komeada, Amami, one for Nene and hmm...I haven't spoken to Mr.Lucifer in a while but him too. Dito is nice but I'm not sure if he'd like a keychain...but he got me a gift so I guess I should repay him. So thats about five keychains?

[ Screw everybody else and just come to npc-kun, they want to say, but also maybe not because they have a business to run and Crona... has a lot more friends than npc-kun ever will. Good for them. Friendship is important, apparently.

[ It's all the same keychains npc-kun grabs and brings back to Crona, a set of evil eyes that npc-kun proudly jingles in front of their face. ]

They're going to love it, I'm sure!

[ Friendship is important, apperantly. But even if Crona doesn't have any more room for other peoples opinions because they're trying to make their own...that doesn't mean they can't have another friend. Even if their friend is their boss. ]

Oh, the little eyes are cute! [ They jangle them above their head, trying to figure out what color should go to who. ]

Umm. Huh. Where did you get them, did you make them? Or is there someplace outside the school thats just full of eyes...

[adsum]

[ Oh, for once somebody things the eyes are cute. npc-kun tries not to look at the keychains when Crona jangles them. ]

I have a secret source outside of school that's just full of eyes. If I had to make something, I'm better at things with wood or paper... plastic and curses are hard.

[radnarok]

Oh that makes sense. [ They lower their hand and shake the keychains again, because they like the clicking sound it makes. ] Back home I used to see eyes in corners a lot...but that stopped here. These eyes are a lot nicer though!

[ Theres a moment of silence before npc-kuns next words sink in. ]

W--wah!?! Curse? Cursed? Are you going to curse me I thought I was your employee? I can't deal with having another boss who beats me up!

[adsum]

I won't beat you up! I won't ever!

[ Never mind whether these keychains are or are not cursed, npc-kun has to make this one thing clear first. ]

Who's your boss that beats you up? I'll beat them up.

[ Safely. From far away. Potentially with a heavy rock. ]

My mother isn't here and she's too stroooong for you.

[ No offense but npc-kun doesn't look like much of a fighter...um but they don't really want to get hit or pinched so thats not an invitation! They lower the keychains to hang their head. Thinking about their mother... Lady Medusa... would she get mad at Crona for getting a job? That's probably not a betrayal right. She didn't pay them, it was different. They hoped. ]

And Ragnarok beats me up but he's in my blood so you'd have to beat me up too, so I'm sorry but if you do that then we're fighting!

Um...But if you don't then I don't. That's fair I like when things are fair.

[ Can your mother be your boss? ...They suppose so, because you're supposed to listen to your parents and do everything they tell you and they can be scary sometimes, all qualities of an employer-employee relationship.

And then Crona's talking about some blood parasite that npc-kun honestly doesn't want to think about. ]

I won't ever beat you up if you don't ever beat me up. It's a deal.

[ Mostly because they aren't much of a fighter, and even if Crona doesn't look it either, it's the weaker ones who never know to control their strength because they have no choice but to fight with all they have. ]

[ Medusa can be whatever she wants. She really did #motherhood different. ]

A second deal already? You're pretty good. I accept!

[ They tilt their head at npc-kun again, nodding a little..]

I'm thinking something right now, and so I'm going to say it... I'm wondering, why wasn't the store open before? This place is cool, so why did you only open it up at summertime? Is it for advertising reasons?

[adsum]

Hm? Well... [ ... ] I was sort of busy!

[ Doing shopkeeper things, you know. But they beam when Crona says the store is cool, because that means they're doing alright, they're on the right track. ]

Besides, if I opened at the start of the year, everybody's busy with new school things, and they haven't built up enough money or merit points to buy things with. It's just better to do it now. I can get set up before everybody gets back.
