( it starts out small. a need for comfort food, and a need for something heartfelt but silly and fun, something genuine and kind. ... and, well, she did find a weird. bootleg vhs set of her favorite movie series, hamster space wars. but the dorm is only barely furnished- and it's not like they can just go out and buy a tv or anything. honestly she completely doubts there's even anything beyond the woods. but she remembers a teacher playing the thing and other stuff in the first month of all of this.

it's so long ago...

but there's a television and a vhs player in the school. and nene... nene's tired and sad and is currently out of fucks to give, so at some point in the day, after everyone else has left, nene has returned to the school and, uh. "borrowed" both things. it's fine. they just have to get it back in by sunday evening. don't worry about it. like, it's definitely heavy but she's a tough cookie who tills soil and everything, and also sara and noah both witnessed everything and are accomplices by default, so they had to help carry things too.

(they were completely happy to help on both accounts, she asked very nicely.)

so the "borrowed" television is set up across from one of the larger couches, and the vhs on top of it. she had cookies in the oven, donuts and hot chocolate made and popcorn popped. the common room paintings are covered with sheets of cloth. all that was left was something cozy- but at this point, nene's made so many little cushions and blankets and even cozy pjs that that's super easy. all that was left was letting anyone who wanted to come know too. so at some point in the halls, nene walks down calling out: )

Cartoons in the common room! Bring blankets and stuff!

( and, so everyone knows what their characters are getting into: hamster space wars is a movie series about different factions of hamsters that have been trying for cross planetary peace for ages now, with a villainous faction having sabotaged the final negotiations so they can control the war from the shadows to make the most money and also get the most seeds (Very Decadent). the first movie follows the main hamster and his little group trying to escape the villains after having witnessed the sabotage, and are trying to avoid assassination and end the war for good. the sequels follow allied factions, with hamster galactic wars being the Thrilling Conclusion.

it's heartfelt. it's silly. it's very cute. nene loves it. )

Well... I'd be home, and wake up in my bed. I'd check on my hamster, and then I'd go get breakfast with Momma and Daddy! After that, Aoi-chan and I would go to to the mall... and we'd get all kinds of cute outfits and stuff! And books and plushies! And then we'd go to the pool with all of our friends after lunch! Once everyone goes home, I'd go have dinner with my family, before going up the hill outside of the neighborhood with Hanako-kun and a telescope, and we'd stay there until the day's over.

... It's hard to choose one thing, when there's so many people I'd want to spend that day with, ehehe. So I guess it sounds more like a general fantasy... but it's still what I'd want to do!

Oh, but all of that sounds wonderful...a day filled with everyone you love, and everything you love.

[she's smiling, having drawn something of a mental outline of it all for herself. it just sounded pleasant, full of affection - which seems perfect, to her.]

( oh she's beaming... what she didn't say was that all the friends she's made here would be there too- maybe natsume wouldn't be in the pool, but he'd be at the sidelines snarking for sure. subaru would be getting on akane's nerves and lemon would love it. rika would probably be challenging someone to chicken at the pool... ... she can imagine all of them happy and free of fear and anger. it's perfect. )

Easy. I used to know an artist - a man who was quite full of himself in many ways, and thought because he was talented and fortunate that he was better than everyone else. When he irritated me enough, I would take either some of his brushes or his paints, and hide them before he would be using them.

[what she has failed to mention is that sometimes, this would be before a match. Edgar, left with no paint or no brush, unable to dazzle the hunter...]

It would inconvenience him, but I always would slip them back before it was too much trouble. I just liked to remind him that he still had flaws - like perhaps forgetting to lock his door.

( nene, oblivious as she is, can't help but giggle- she knew that even someone like helena had to have her moments! )

That sounds like it'd be so frustrating- on both ends. Did he ever find out what you did...?

I think he suspected, but he couldn't ever prove it. We had plenty of disagreements...I never wanted him to come to actual harm, though. It would have been enough if he got down off his high horse and understood we needed to work together.

[reasons didn't matter in the end. they were all trapped in the endless game - they all needed to find the way out, prize or no prize.]

( oh that hits close to home- the idea of struggling so hard against someone who you were surviving together with... ah. surviving. no, that was projecting, wasn't it? )

I understand. I feel that way about here sometimes.

Then we'll simply have to find a way to manage, that's all. We keep moving forward - even if we disagree on how to get there.

[she says it not overly cheery, but matter of fact. it is what it is and they have to keep moving on. even if it's work to get there, they keep going.]

( it's the only thing keeping her going, sometimes. especially with how some of the others could be... )
