( it starts out small. a need for comfort food, and a need for something heartfelt but silly and fun, something genuine and kind. ... and, well, she did find a weird. bootleg vhs set of her favorite movie series, hamster space wars. but the dorm is only barely furnished- and it's not like they can just go out and buy a tv or anything. honestly she completely doubts there's even anything beyond the woods. but she remembers a teacher playing the thing and other stuff in the first month of all of this. 

it's so long ago...

but there's a television and a vhs player in the school. and nene... nene's tired and sad and is currently out of fucks to give, so at some point in the day, after everyone else has left, nene has returned to the school and, uh. "borrowed" both things. it's fine. they just have to get it back in by sunday evening. don't worry about it. like, it's definitely heavy but she's a tough cookie who tills soil and everything, and also sara and noah both witnessed everything and are accomplices by default, so they had to help carry things too. 

(they were completely happy to help on both accounts, she asked very nicely.) 

so the "borrowed" television is set up across from one of the larger couches, and the vhs on top of it. she had cookies in the oven, donuts and hot chocolate made and popcorn popped. the common room paintings are covered with sheets of cloth. all that was left was something cozy- but at this point, nene's made so many little cushions and blankets and even cozy pjs that that's super easy. all that was left was letting anyone who wanted to come know too. so at some point in the halls, nene walks down calling out: )

Cartoons in the common room! Bring blankets and stuff! 

( and, so everyone knows what their characters are getting into: hamster space wars is a movie series about different factions of hamsters that have been trying for cross planetary peace for ages now, with a villainous faction having sabotaged the final negotiations so they can control the war from the shadows to make the most money and also get the most seeds (Very Decadent). the first movie follows the main hamster and his little group trying to escape the villains after having witnessed the sabotage, and are trying to avoid assassination and end the war for good. the sequels follow allied factions, with hamster galactic wars being the Thrilling Conclusion. 

it's heartfelt. it's silly. it's very cute. nene loves it. )

They're betraying eachother for it, Sou! Castor and Pollux! Love and death and seeds...and... [ She furrows her brow. Wait a second. He's right, thats way to many things for this movie to focus on! ] I mean, I guess maybe they could have combined them. Seeds should just be a commercial good, why do they need to control both separately? Is it like oil?

[ They finally got to see that movie, and they spend it like this. ]

[H-hey now... he has his own apartment... he's gainfully employed... or he did and was at least. The only person hiring here is Npc-kun.]

Either that or it's like drugs... [SHIN, NO.] It's a bad sign if they're that valuable. Don't get any ideas, Sara.

[You can take the death game contestants out of the trial room but you can't take the trial room out of the death game contestants, it seems.]

[ You think her father would let her get away with drugs? She had a secret bodyguard for the last like, six years? Not that Sara even wants to sneak out and drink and smoke. Too proper. She's a refined young girl.]

There are other valuable things, you know? [ Never mind the obvious addiction the hamsters seem to have to them, she needs to make a point here! ] Just as many wars have been fought over rice.

[Everyone knows the dealer doesn't take... okay but fair though.]

You never know... [He's just poking the envelope at this point, though. He's also wondering who else has been thinking this.] That's good though, keep it up.

And sure, but has anyone ever betrayed their closest companion over a bag of it?

[He thinks not. Rice wars are about large supplies of it right? ...he has an average grasp of history.]

[ She's watched enough yakuza movies to know...the person who squeals gets the worst death. ]

[You know, considering. He doesn't know about the Hades Incident but there's the mysterious connection to the kidnappers through Kai and her dad. Even reading the full missives only produced more questions than answers...]

My dad had a lot. I think he liked collecting weird ones.

[ She refuses to think of any deeper implications. The emails only proved that her Dad hired Kai, and that could have been an honest mistake. Even if Asunaro was using him, her kind, annoying, overbearing dad...no she doesn't like to think about it. Sou better not push it. ]

Haha, Sou, this is me we're talking about. They'd all see working together is the best way forward! After all, you're a traitor so you can't be trusted.

[This is Sou we're talking about... but for once he doesn't push it further. Critique of the movie aside, he really is enjoying Hamster Space Wars and doesn't want to completely lose track of what's going on in a really heated conversation.

Just the normal level of heated conversation. About this amount. He can poke at this later if he really wants to.]

So I worked together with them to put you in jail and you break out of jail and want them to work together with you to get revenge on me? Is that right? Doesn't make much sense putting it like that... you'd have to be very convincing.
