( after leaving the nurses' office, komaeda-arata is sent on a mission to fetch muffins from the vending machine. in hand, he has amami's pda which he's supposed to be using to purchase food, but part of him wonder if he even has the merit points considering he rarely attends class. ah, it's probably bad to think about his ultimate that way, so he taps at the screen as he stands in front of the vending machine contemplating his decisions...

until. he notices that amami's little keychain is missing, he didn't think much when he was gifted the pda, but now... that's a little odd — he knows how amami is about npc-kun, so he doubts amami would be the type to lose something so important.

well, time to utilize his good samaritans of the school. )

has anyone seen a keychain with lots of eyes? it belongs to amami-kun, and it's missing off his pda. also clamor-san is missing his pda, he won't make a fuss if you have it, but please return it to ebalon-kun.

[ shuichi... fidgets with his pda a little because it's kind of anxiety-inducing to be reading all that praise about himself in a public space where he's acutely aware other people can (and will) read it too -- when he knows he isn't all that and it's more of komaeda's usual exaggeration. come to think of it... it was the source of a lot of their earlier conflicts too. the emphasis that komaeda puts on their ultimate talents...

his priorities are off, that's still true, but it doesn't... change the fact that he's someone who believes in them. or if shuichi's allowed to think selfishly for a second... in him.

You were already helpful, I did say that, right? And I do feel grateful.
I'm nothing as special as you make it sound, but... if I can be of even a little help to Amami-kun, it would still make me happy.

But you're wrong about one thing. I'm not just doing this because I'm the Ultimate Detective.
I also want to do it as Amami-kun's friend. And... for you and for everyone else here who trusts me, too.
