speaking of against the law - who wants to talk about murders?
Who: :3
What: Discussing the murders of 9/12 and 9/17
When: 9/18, Evening after all classes and clubs.
Where: The common room of the dorms.
Warnings: Will update...but we're discussing a murder!
[ Some times the next day, Sara starts finding as many people as she can and asking them to please try to be in the dorms this evening. Everything has been chaotic since Clamor's death, and she'd like some clarity.
By sometime after clubs, she's moved Narumi's body out in the common room (perhaps with Akira's help if he was willing), and has started a fire in the fireplace. It's getting chillier at night, and any discussion of a murder mystery plot deserves some ambiance.
She forgot to go get some snacks, but please, feel free to bring some. ]

[her voice is quiet, but steady. things are falling into greater and greater place now, and what is said - what is seen - will be ultimately important.]
From all I've gathered, if a magic circle is disrupted, it has unfortunate consequences for those within it, which may be why Mr. Ito didn't make it fully. But he's not dead. Neither is our shopkeeping friend.
[pausing, she draws her cane a little closer to herself.]
This person has killed before, and was ready to kill again for their own goals. They were willing to destroy a body so thoroughly it couldn't even be recognized to be mourned properly. To have strength and face this kind of person down, to rescue both the shopkeeper and someone he didn't know when his own life was at stake...it's fortunate, isn't it, that the void was there to flee to.

The both of you are getting a little ahead of yourselves, aren't YOU? Wolfe-san, the evidence is purely circumstanTIAL, but it's a possibiliTY. However, what lead either of you to concluding there was anyone else there aside from Ito-senpai and "Clamor"? And you in particuLAR, Little Bat—what makes you think the little shopkeeper was part of IT? Perhaps they were just tired and went to the nurse's office to REST. It's not that uncommon a napping place; I've been several times mySELF.
( he's chiding a little, yes. )
If you two derived all of that from an injured hand and some blood circumstantially place in a hallway someHOW, then perhaps Saihara-kun has some real competition for "Ultimate Detective" HERE.
( ... )
RegardLESS, it's true that both Amami-kun and the little shopkeeper were in the nurse's office before anyone else arRIVED, that Amami-kun's right hand was inJURED, and that the little shopkeeper was fast aSLEEP.

[anyone who would have seen them at the sleepover would know this. would have seen the closeness that exists between the two of them - that made them comfortable enough to stay.]
And because Occam's razor applies - the simplest solution is often the correct one. With most of us in the dorms, the only other people we can place in the school for certain apart from our faker and Mr. Ito are Rantarou and his charge. Unless someone has evidence to indicate there was another person roaming the school, someone who could bleed.

[he winds the ribbon around his finger, then lets it go and sets the spellbook aside. don't wanna mess it up; it's not his, it's noah's.]
She was there, along with Yori-chan, so he can confirm too.

My apologies for scolding YOU, Little Bat. Nagito-kun and I arrived after the majority of you LEFT, so I'm afraid I wasn't privy to Amami-kun waking up on the wrong side of the BED.

[taking a breath, she closes her eyes, tired of having them open for no reason.]
We all know that there are no students in the school as a general rule until a certain time. That limits the possibility of who could have been at the scene and thus bled on the floor. Also, I checked the blood stain myself. It was not so dry that it was old, but it was not new and fresh. If our faker and Mr. Ito had no cuts, then they are ruled out. And with Subaru saying that Rantarou had a fresher cut on his hand, that raises suspicion. He also confessed, when Subaru asked, that the injury was "on purpose". The simplest answer then is that Rantarou was present, and bled. And we know what happens when someone bleeds here. The question then turns to why.
Given that our shopkeeper was with Rantarou, asleep - not at their shop, which is very unlike them given how prompt they like to be - and knowing how much they're fond of each other, it would make more sense for something to have happened to them, and Rantarou to have been there enough to have carried them to the nurse's office. Of course, he could have happened upon them on their own, but again...to face down our faker would have taken quite a bit of courage, knowing that they would kill without hesitation. The sort of courage that may have sprung up seeing someone you care for in danger.
[she's talking a lot, more than she's used to doing in one moment. waiting for someone to interrupt.]
To harm his hand, to bleed just that small amount, without extra drops anywhere, it would have been a deliberate choice. He wanted to go to that void, instead of trying to outrun our faker. And I've known Rantarou since the day I woke up from my false memories - he is someone who helps, when he can, but he's also very smart. He wouldn't face down our faker alone, this merciless killer, without looking for someone or something to help him rescue Mr. Ito from the circle. Not unless there was a greater reason. Something that left him with no choice but to act recklessly.
For all he could have known, seeing Mr. Ito lying there, that boy was already dead. But he could help avoid a third death.

You're a smart GIRL, Little Bat. Well DONE. And with our interloper taking Master Clamor's boDY, it means they would've been subjected to the same vertigo every one of us feels when we see BLOOD, making it easy to ACT. ( ah. ) Now I'm the one getting ahead of mySELF... Well, it's almost impossible for you to figure out what happened once he got there anyway, I supPOSE. Thankfully—
( his hand slides down to join subaru's hidden one, but it stops just at his wrist; subaru can probably tell what's going to happen next as his grip tightens, and he pulls it up to reveal the bandaged hand. )
—we have someone who can fill in those deTAILS, considering he decided to take a trip on his OWN. ( he smiles at subaru, the same too-bright one he'd worn yesterday morning. ) Baru-kun, if you WOULD?

... Right, uh. So. After I left the nurse's place... I went up to the fourth floor, to the hallway on that side. I... kinda got the feeling that Ama-chan had something to do with the other school, 'cause we've talked about it a bit a couple days before and the blood and stuff that Lena said.
So I went.
[how's he follow this up... um. oh.]
To be honest, I thought it was a total bust, because I figured it'd be burned from fire up there... None of the candles or circles or anything like that was there, and it really is disorientating. Like sitting up from being half-asleep really quickly.
When we were talking to Ama-chan though, he mentioned that the fire'd been too close for comfort... The regular hallway didn't have any marks like that, but the other school's was bad. The imposter'd attacked him with fire spells, like the ones in Clamor-san's book, and... the reason that Ama-chan was totally fine after, besides his tiredness, is 'cause everything goes back to the way it was when you entered it.
[which he learned with. anyway he's not gonna go into that. subaru curls his held up fingers a bit, wondering if he'd have to go back to the nurse's office and sleep against the door instead of the floor.]
That's why Clamor-san's body didn't have any injuries that looked like it could've done the imposter in. Uh, the fall damage was after they got back to our side though.
[a beat, and then he continues]
The imposter didn't do very well at hiding who they weren't though, once they were caught. They totally blew their act immediately, and that's why Ama-chan did what he had to do.

...Ebalon-kun, bear in mind it wasn't Master Clamor that Amami-kun did this TO. The real perpetrator—the one who abused Master's TRUST, who took advantage of him and used his magic for ill—has already faced the muSIC. I...
( he pauses pulling his hand back from subaru's wrist to lay it in his lap again. )
I'm upset TOO, but the circumstances are no different than if Sena-senpai had killed me while I was possessed by Sato-chan's FEAR. ( he hadn't been himself; and clamor, in that moment, haven't been himself, either. ) I won't tell you you can't be angry or upset with Amami-kun, or with how things have turned out—you're allowed to BE... but I do ask that you think about it when your mind has cleared a little and try not to completely eviscerate HIM.
( and hey, at least amami did it in self-defense and in defense of another, and didn't preemptively kill anyone to save his own skin. natsume, a little bitter and petty, thinks that must win him at least half a point with the peanut gallery. )
no subject
Right. I know.
[It's a muttered, bitter-sounding comment, but he knows better. Most of his ire is directed at the fact that vengeance should've been his to take; killing someone who's inhabiting the body of someone dear to him isn't a dealbreaker. Noah's always been willing to strike the killing blow.]
...I won't do anything to Amami. It's fine.
[He has fairly high opinions of Amami anyway, even if they're a bit soured right now.]

That does still put forth the query of where our missing souls ARE, but the little lamb is right that the tree holds those who have passed ON... It's possible they could be THERE.
( how would they rescue them? ...is there a way? ... )
That's something we might have to explore at a later TIME... Not much laTER, ( for clarification, ) but until we understand more about how lost souls work HERE, there's not much we can DO.

( he'd like to think that one of clamor's students wouldn't be the sort to take real life pain and turn it into little plot points, throwing them to the wind to watch a bunch of grieving folk scramble to figure it out only for it all to be a red herring. )
The impostor already killed a gentle man, and was aiming for a second- if someone were to witness anything, it'd blow their cover out of the water instantly, rendering it all moot and opening them up for attacks from those harmed by their actions.

'Cause I told him about Ama-chan being around and no one else brought it up, even though more than just me knew he was in there with an injured hand.
[shin. helena. maybe sara, but he's not totally sure if she got a look at it.]
Ama-chan's my friend, but I wasn't gonna discount him in being involved somehow, as a bystander or not. It's important to gather everything together, right? I don't really do mysteries, but I think they look pretty fun.
[even if this one hasn't been very fun... subaru slacks back again, though he doesn't seem that much more relaxed.]
... Anyway, why'd you think of the other school? Just 'cause of the blood being there? I can't like, say that's not a right idea, 'cause it was racking around in my brain when I left, too...
