Hihi, Pumpkin here! This is where I'll be putting most of my closed and plotted threads for the month of October. I say this post is semi-open because Senku will be on the Exchange Program Trip from 10/11-10/17 with Add, so he won't be around for a good chunk of time. ...Except Senku knows that he isn't alive. Apparently he is dead. So why does this knife that he twirls in his hand say "use to return" on it?
He tried to convince everyone of his prior existence beforehand, but they just didn't know. It was much harder to get involved with the village, at least for him. He doesn't blame them for it though- he blames the school.
Yogen High is a farcical place- it has a good omen for a name, and yet it brings malevolence in its wake. In a way, it would be better if he went back. He'd have his friends to look forward to talking to. Back at the school and in his world.
His real world.
...It's hard for him to bring up, but he thinks it might be time. He's searched out all possible options, ran the calculations and nothing else has come up where he doesn't have to die. There's no third option. It sucks, and he doesn't want to give the school what it wants. He doesn't want to feed it any more lives. He's going to have to if he wants any chance of getting back to help everyone find their way home. Senku sighs as he pockets the knife, getting up to go look for his friend- the only other person who knows who he is here. ]
Hey, Add?
Open - 10/17; post-exchange program.
Senku waits out in the school lobby to see how long Add would be, if he was going to be back today.
When he gets a little less patient, he makes his way toward Room 1-B and starts taking things out for Game Club. Maybe playing some games will help him take his mind off of things.
And when that's over and done with, Senku will make his way back to the dorms in the evening. You might catch him before he makes it to his room, should you want to speak with him about anything. But you're also more than welcome to knock on his door! ]

... but in the end, some other desire won out. He couldn't allow Senku to go alone. And so a second name went on the sheet, Edward Grenore printed neatly next to his travelling partner's.
The result was somewhat expected. Not the same as the elevator, but a world that's not quite right, a few variables short of a correct timeline—a world where everything is the same, except for the one it should belong so. A world where friends look at you like a stranger and yet everything is still fine, just as it should be, reality perfectly shifted to compensate for what was removed... it was almost impressive, when he considered what he knew of Senku's true involvement. Was this a world where he did exist, but was erased? Or was he truly never there at all?
The answer didn't really matter, though. He voiced his opinions on day one—this isn't the right timeline, there's no point in staying here.
But Senku wanted to leave on his own terms... and who was Add to argue? An immortal entity such as himself should know how to be patient. He had plenty to occupy his mind with, in the meantime. Collecting more knowledge, and researching an alternate method, a third option...
He's in his adult body, scratching some irrelevant equation into the dirt when Senku approaches. He glances back over his shoulder.]

[ And if something isn't clicking for Senku, you know it isn't much of a possibility, if at all. He stands there with his brows furrowed, trying to find any last minute solution. The words just won't come out.
He knows he can't stay here. Senku just doesn't want to lose to this school, of all things.
...Well, it may have won the battle, but it won't win the war. ]
...I think it's time we... We went back.

Giving up, admitting defeat, it's the same as accepting that impossibilities may exist in the world, that they may have to give up again and again in the future.
... but have all options truly been exhausted? Add pauses, gauging the other's expression.]
Did you think two months would be enough to find your solution? It took me three years before I made any progress on dimensional travel. It's not what I'd call a simple topic that can be mastered in a few months.
Kukuku... giving up doesn't suit you. There's still something we can try.
[something he's yet to bring up, because... it would only benefit Senku. it'd be unlike him to suggest it.
but maybe he's fine with that, if it means giving him the hope Add couldn't keep for himself.]

Look at this.
[Noah wanders over to his shelf by the door, jumps up, and plucks something off of it. What he shows Senku is a rock gacha rock carved into a crescent moon shape, a bit rough to the touch but not sharp enough to cut anyone.]
I didn't get to show you before you left, but Childe carved this for me. Or... chiseled? I-I know you like the moon, so—
[Eventually, though, he figures out how to read the room.]

[ Senku replies... much less enthusiastically than the norm for Senku. He pauses at Noah's question, once he slows his own roll. ]
It's uh... fine. Well, as fine as it can be, at least. I'll be okay eventually.
[ Well, it's technically the truth. He's not good at the emotion thing, but even he knows when he can't keep up his act. Lord knows this school has been trying on him quite a bit. He'll just close the door behind him and walk a bit more inside the dorm. ]
The trip was... not what I expected it to be. Actually, I don't entirely know what I expected from it.

[Noah is not, and probably never will be, a comforting kid. Still, he cares, and if Senku wants to vent, Noah will listen. Listening is one of the things he's good at, after all.]

[ He doesn't think giving up suits him either, honestly. The scientist definitely beats himself up when he can't come up with any other option to something. You can tell when he does too, since he's not his regular, 10 billion percent confident self. He's used to having things under control, but now that's been taken away from him, and at a much more personal level too. Senku looks up at the other when he says there's something else they can try. A brow raises- why didn't Add tell him about it before? ...It could only be a Hail Mary option. ]

but that's not the entire truth. he scratches out his dirt equation with a single line, tossing it aside and turning around to face Senku fully.]
Pure El would be the most efficient energy source... but there are substitutes. My own abilities have been restricted, but it's possible those restrictions could be bypassed using an external mechanism. Working with the materials here will make things difficult, but even if it's only worth a few attempts, it's still something.
[... it's not exactly an explanation, but. whether Senku can read between the lines or not, he doesn't really care. it'd be easier if he could get the other to agree before he has to explain how they're "bypassing his restrictions".]

It's something that can't be easily or freely given away. Senku's eyes wander to the large crystal in the others chest. ...Add can't be thinking of doing something so drastic. But also, this is Add. Would... would he be alright? Something so set in place probably can't be fixed so easily if ripped from the source. And since it looks as if it's acting as a life source anyways...
He looks back up at the other and chuckles. A hand subconsciously goes to the back of his neck as he scratches at it a bit, looking at Add. ]
Out of the question. I'm not putting you in a situation like that.
[ He doesn't want to test what would happen. If this does work and Add doesn't show back up at the school at all, he'd feel too horrible about it. Timespace shenanigans are weird. It's just not something that's been tested before, at least to Senku's perspective, especially in a stone world such as they are. It's better for them to regroup with everyone the old fashioned way and figure a way out. ]

Then don't think of it that way. It's my decision to make.
Consider the situation rationally. Mine isn't an existence that's easily destroyed, and we're both still tied to that place. If we have to "die" to go back there anyway, then it doesn't matter if one of us can benefit or not... this timeline is already extremely close to your own. Doing this from Yogen wouldn't be possible for someone like you, but under these circumstances...
[He brings his hand up to his chest, fingers tracing the edges of the crystal embedded there... these are unique circumstances. There's no guarantee they'll both last long enough to see another exchange trip in Yogen, and this isn't an offer he'd make to just anyone. Even if there was another person out there capable of understanding it...
Senku is special. That's why... Add wants to see him try, even if it would mean never seeing him again.
... or the arguably worse possibility, which is that removing the core won't kill him and he'll just be trapped in that state until his power is fully spent. But he's just not going to think about that one too hard. Yeah.]
... What reason do you have to turn this down? I wouldn't have offered if I didn't think you could do it. Do you want to go back to your own world or not?

...Keheh. Trust me, it is tempting, and I'm sure I could do it, but... I made myself a promise. I promised myself I'd get as many people as I could out of that school, and also tear it down in the process so that no one has to go through such a thing again. I didn't think I'd be able to escape by going on this trip by any means, but, I guess I was just hoping that nothing bad happened to the people I know.
[ A pause. ]
I still don't know, since this really is a different timeline. But, if they haven't shown up at the school thus far, that makes me think they're alright for the time being. So, I'm going to do what I can to help everyone else in the meantime. No one deserves to be stuck in Yogen.
[ He smirks as he looks back up at Add, continuing. ]
It's also why I want you to stick around. You're a very intelligent and clever person. I'm sure that we, along with everyone else can find a way out together. Besides, I'm sure you still want to see the inside of the Science lab- can't do that with unknown variables standing in the way.
[ Not to mention you're one of his best friends here, Addward!!! ]

His logic is sound, even if his goal is an unrealistic one... so it'd be difficult to force him into changing his mind. And maybe, deep down, Add doesn't want him to. No one deserves to be stuck in Yogen, but to a devil like Add who has infinite time and no present worth returning to, to have a place where people still want him around...
He's happy, for a moment, before he realizes how disgustingly naive he's being. So he huffs out a sigh instead, letting his hand drop back down to his side. He can keep being useful, for now, just to satisfy his curiosity. That doesn't mean he's getting too attached.]
Fine... but don't expect me to offer that again. [actually, hasn't he opened himself up to future risks now that Senku knows he could use Add for that purpose...? guess that's something new he'll have to be paranoid about]
Going back is the only option that makes sense, in that case. Sever all ties to this world, and we'll return to the other... what a waste of time this ended up being.
