there's only been so many people that he could count on one hand that Joshua would consider "friend". someone who could see so completely through him, but also not reject the person they see when they do so. first had been Hanekoma...second had been Neku.

and now, it's so strange and unlikely, but Komaeda as well.

it's probably a good thing they're not face-to-face right now, because his sad and wistful expression turns into something more hard and neutral. it's born out of something that he doesn't want to express to anyone -- a weakness, even though all three of these people somehow seem to see right through it.

he hates, loves, and is terrified of it all at the same time.

and i would never lie about hope.

( he notices the way the other ignores portion of the text, but komaeda doesn't chase after it. he smiles instead, looking at his pda as he thinks about joshua's hope, and it's something he can identify so well that it feels convenient. )

now, now... you're no ultimate.
but you have a hidden talent, don't you?

( it's a bad habit to break actually: his obssession with ultimates. the levels he place people because of them, that doesn't mean joshua can't be fitted into that more hypocritical thinking of his. even though he hardly thinks of it that way. besides, he doesn't know what it is in practice, but that aura does come off joshua makes him different from those who have nothing. )
