[sometime in the afternoon, after the student council wraps up for the day, someone takes control of the overhead system. the voice sounds some sort of way, but it starts anyway.]

Good afternoon! I’ve decided to break up the monotony and the dreadful tones we’ve had over this past week with a little game. It’s a scavenger hunt of sorts, because I have information on some of the murders that you all haven’t figured out.

But I’m not going to just give it to you, so you’ll have to participate!

I’ll give you the first clue.

i've always been a believer of hope, i can't stop now because of what happened. you have to use these deaths to move forward, to reach heights you couldn't...

[Against his will, a dozen moments flash through Hinata's mind - in the club room, in the dorm room, little pockets of laughter and happiness. It's so painful he can hardly stand it.]

( he's silent as he stares at the screen — the way he's being asked what he cared about and what he didn't, and he's wondering does that deserve an answer. it seems like hinata doesn't trust komaeda at all since he doesn't believe in his thoughts on hope.

besides, he can only answer in one way. )

i was fascinated with his hope, and...
this is what happens when too many rely on the abilities of an ultimate than working themselves...
all his work... snuffed about... because of how greedy the majority was.
it hurts to see this, hinata-kun, and you question my feelings...

[There's something about the way that Komaeda says things, now - he's always chalked it up to whatever he went through while Hinata wasn't there. It seems like more and more, those things bring unease to Hinata's heart.

I don't question your feelings. I question whether or not you're being honest with yourself.

( hinata can read komaeda better than others, and that's somewhat troubling if there's something about him that's showing which hinata can see. well, he shouldn't know, he's only spent so much time with komaeda because of how corrupt the other's timeline is, and so that's komaeda worried over nothing.

Yes. Although it might not be in the way that you think.

[Hinata has a sense of things about Komaeda, but not as much as he will one day. He's uncannily good at picking up details about others, especially when it comes to him, but there's still plenty that will escape his sight.

For this, though... Well. That remains to be seen.]

I probably should be more offended over a "you thing" than I am, but... It's not like I don't deserve it, so. It's okay to just call me an asshole, you know. It's faster.

[He doesn't expect it - the brief smile that pulls at his face, the feeling of fondness. Didn't think smiling was a thing he could do right now, but Komaeda always seems capable of surprising him.]
