[sometime in the afternoon, after the student council wraps up for the day, someone takes control of the overhead system. the voice sounds some sort of way, but it starts anyway.]

Good afternoon! I’ve decided to break up the monotony and the dreadful tones we’ve had over this past week with a little game. It’s a scavenger hunt of sorts, because I have information on some of the murders that you all haven’t figured out.

But I’m not going to just give it to you, so you’ll have to participate!

I’ll give you the first clue.

It's fine.

( kinda. anyway, amami's kinda crouched down, pda in one hand that he has to look up from to meet hinata's eyes, but he doesn't stand up or anything. it's true that komaeda had noticed details he'd overlooked, so maybe he should look over them again — that one guy's message isn't a bad idea.

so here he is, and when hinata's here too, amami gestures with a hand to join him. )

C'mere, can you help me pick all this up? A. Grenore ( who the fuck is that? ) said we should take a look and try to save it.

( the confetti on the ground, he means. )

...Yeah.

[He nods, shoves his PDA back in his pocket, not really wanting to put it away but he can always get it back out later.] And A. Grenore is Add, he's the new guy that's... [His brain catches on saying there instead of Saihara-] ...rooming with me and Komaeda and Goto.

[He does his best to both gather and look over the confetti as he picks clumps of it up, keeping an eye out in case there's anything out of place.]

[Hinata might notice that there's some words written on the confetti -- this might be uncovered as he's looking, does it catch his eye?

Oh, yeah. I think I've met him.

( in one of the timelines that might've got trimmed or whatever fancy science bullshit words add uses to describe that. doesn't matter; amami knows of him at least, so he'll focus on scooping up confetti pieces, glancing at them before piling them up in hinata's hands. he needs his own to be free, thanks, because he'll need to text add back. )

Anyway, what do you think? Anything unusual?

[The confetti does catch his eye!]

...Amami. There's something written on some of these.

[He furrows his brow as words become apparent, but no clearer in his mind.]

"Gods... Angels... Angels and gods huddled together..." What the hell does that mean?

Hm... I've never heard it before, but how about we ask? Wouldn't be much of a hint of nobody could guess.

( something something cooperative game and all that, yeah? besides, amami was already reaching to take his PDA back in his hand. let him tap at it a little, or maybe hinata has been paying good attention in his classes. )

[the way I was so desperate to tag this during my ten minute break that I messed up my smalltext and now we all have to look at it forever]

Yeah, that seems like a good idea. [Hinata nods, still searching through the paper in case there's more.] It doesn't ring any bells for me either, but... There's bound to be someone that knows. If this person really cares about it being a... game... [The word is spoken with barely controlled vitriol.] ...then it makes sense they'd at least give us enough pieces to solve it.

[Hinata makes a small noise, surprised yet urgent, as he uncovers something else.]

Amami, hold on- there's more here. Let me just... [He trails off, taking a few moments to put together what it says. This sort of thing isn't exactly his forte, but he'll struggle and get through it.] "In dark unopened books"... Even if I don't know about the other part, that has to be talking about the library, right?

[sisters]

Looks like Komaeda-kun was onto something...

( with his pillow book theory, amami means. he'll glance at the words hinata's collected in his palm, looking up to meet his eyes. )

If you want, you can head there now. I'll look at the last of the pieces to make sure that's all of it, and I'll send you the full thing.

( because the gang's probably going to move through the rest of these clues pretty fast, but making sure they don't leave any pieces behind, that probably counts for something too. )

[Hinata knows something must pass over his own eyes when they meet Amami's gaze, but even he doesn't know what it is. But he lets the moment pass, sighs and nods a little as he passes off the papers carefully.]

...Alright. I'll see who I can meet up with there, make sure everybody's up to date with everything on the PDAs. And...

[He hesitates, just for a brief moment. And then-]

...Thank you, Amami. We'll do everything we can, to get to the bottom of this.

[It's for Hinata, for Amami, both of them because- Hinata knows. He'd yelled at their mysterious guest because he was hurting, but he knows he's not the only one.]
