?????? 10/8
WHO: All of Yogen
WHAT: Something is brewin...about to begin.....
WHEN: 10/8 afternoon
WHERE: Everywhere!
WARNINGS: ┐(´ー`)┌ Will update if needed.
[sometime in the afternoon, after the student council wraps up for the day, someone takes control of the overhead system. the voice sounds some sort of way, but it starts anyway.]
Good afternoon! I’ve decided to break up the monotony and the dreadful tones we’ve had over this past week with a little game. It’s a scavenger hunt of sorts, because I have information on some of the murders that you all haven’t figured out.
But I’m not going to just give it to you, so you’ll have to participate!
I’ll give you the first clue.
“On the rare occasion that the average detective takes a break, he needs somewhere to store his things. Small, perhaps, but he may have something deadly to hide!”
Let’s see how you do!
[the audio cuts off...
but then a message pops up on the message boards.]
u can help each other out!! but u gotta do a little bit of leg work!! u wont win just by sitting around talking 2 each other on here!!
remember: friendship is magic!!! (˶◕‿◕˶✿)
oh, oh, oh!!
You have until midnight to find me.
Fail, and face erasure of the facts.

nearby though, there's about five books that are jutting out, not perfectly in line with the rest of the shelf...
the books, should he get closer are:
Hound of the Baskervilles
War and Peace
Crime and Punishment
Murder on the Orient Express
The Black Dahlia]
no subject
those are
mostly mystery books, if subaru remembers right? eichi's canonically talked about war and peace before, unfortunately, and hounds of the baskervilles has come up too... but subaru isn't a big reader, so unfortunately these refs are lost on him.
but that's fine. he doesn't need to be the library brain here--]
@ r.amami, @ n.komaeda
ok so no go on the pillow book (bad joke btw learn a punchline) but theres something interesting here anyway
hounds of the baskervilles
war and peace
crime and punishment
murder on the orient express
the black dahlia
theyre like kinda jutting out out of the bookshelves, which totally doesnt fit the library vibe
im not a big reader so ur gonna have to tell me if theres a connection im gonna take a look thru them
[he'll take them out one at a time and see if there's anything inside...]

A class would be Crime and Punishment.
( he says lightly, his eyes look through subaru for a moment as he reaches out for the specific book. )
It focuses on the mental anguish and moral dilemmas of Rodion Raskolnikov, an impoverished ex-student in Saint Petersburg who formulates a plan to kill an unscrupulous pawnbroker for her money. The others are also interesting, which one would you like me to tell you about?
no subject
he picks up the Black Dahlia book first. when he opens it, a spider lily seems like it's been pressed into the middle of the pages. it falls to the ground.
...
...but it serves no other purpose than to prove that the books have in fact been tampered with.
which one will he go through next?]

Crime and Punishment is another bust, with a sketch of a smiley face falling out of it.]

............
and then hugging him as he reaches for the book, hello!! you can still get the book subaru'll drop off in a moment.]
Maddy! I'm glad you're still okay~. Also, the hound book. One of my seniors back in Yumenosaki seemed pretty into it, it's a mystery I think? With that Holmes guy.
no subject
( to have subaru latch onto him causes him to flinch, and he's still for a moment as he still holds onto the book — crime and punishment, a bust that has a little smiley face drop out while the other is pressed against him.
...he pauses, looking towards the other, but he lacks the energy to remove his arms, and instead he stares at the other four (he didn't see the initial one subaru got his hands on) books that they can look through. he glances at the book that the other mentions, and komaeda remembers this one, he's always been interested in detective and mystery novels as a whole, so it's easy enough to give a summary as he puts the one book in his hand back, and offers it to subaru instead. )
You're correct... James Mortimer called upon Sherlock Holmes to come investigate the death of his friend, Sir Charles Baskerville, who supposedly died of a heart attack. Though the expression he wore doesn't match what one would have during that sort of death, and because of Sir Charles fears, they believed it was nothing more but the Baskerville Curse. The hound... like a rabid, feral dog would kill those within the family, but it was stupid... easily tricked if you trade clothes... the way they were able to kill the hound was by laying bait, and that's using someone else relevant to the case.
( ... )
That's very observant of you... coming to the library.
no subject
and even if he seems to brush off the praise with his follow-up words, he does seem genuinely happy, with a note of pride in his voice.]
I just couldn't think of any other reason you'd mention a book, that's all~. Was it a real dog doing it? Or someone that pretended to be one?
[smiley face, flower... what's next. maybe it won't be a dud.]
no subject
It was a demonic beast... You should give it a read, you seem pretty interested in dogs.
( he's silent for a moment, and then he looks up at subaru. )
Do you like angels?
no subject
[... he'll check his pda-- oh, huh, weird. angels and gods huddled together...?]
Uh, I guess so. They're supposed to be good spirits that watch over people and make sure they don't get into trouble or something like that, bring about divine... punishments and all... They're super pretty though.
no subject
( there's a small smile as he looks down at the book in subaru's hand, and he points at it thoughtfully. )
Those type of beings are meant to... watch over a group of people, govern them... see how they change... to do that... they give everyone a test, but that angel's first thought wasn't to wipe away everything, instead... they wanted to see if the masses could change their mind...
( he looks up at subaru's comment, and he thinks about it, before he nods since he has a point. ) They are super pretty, though...
( with that said, he'll grab another one of the books while subaru holds onto the one about sherlock. )
Angels are quite something, huh?
no subject
Sounds like you.
no subject
( he can see that he's being studied, and he'll give that as an answer because subaru? if he doesn't like rue ryuzaki hitting on him, you think he wants YOU hitting on him! )
Akehoshi-kun, what bodies did you discover?
no subject
at the question though, subaru looks down at the book in his hands. easier to hide his expressions like this if they give away just how shaken he is by walking into school and finding a horror house. his tone doesn't give anything away, but maybe the casualness of his manner is enough of a hint.]
Some of the ground floor ones... Tali-san, Shepherd-san, and Ishiban took a better look at the poor kid who got halfed and another on the office side of the school, [hard not to peek down and see all that blood when you're curious teen,] but I know all of them were hung up on the ceiling by ropes. I dunno why though.
no subject
Interesting, we also have rope.
( who is we, anyway, it's not like komaeda cares much about it as he looks towards the books. )
You should text Zaki-chan and ask them about the books, maybe they'll humor us.
no subject
Are you good at tying people up, Maddy?
[but he's taking out his pda... okay. he needs to catch up on some of the going-ons, maybe he'll hook onto helena's book thread with them.]
no subject
( is that what he means? then yeah, he's definitely good at that. )
...
( as subaru pulls up his pda, komaeda turns to the side in thought. hm... )
no subject
[do do do... i'll get to it in a second myself...]
no subject
( he looks at subaru now with a smile, sort of eerie, but you know take that as you want. )
