[sometime in the afternoon, after the student council wraps up for the day, someone takes control of the overhead system. the voice sounds some sort of way, but it starts anyway.]

Good afternoon! I’ve decided to break up the monotony and the dreadful tones we’ve had over this past week with a little game. It’s a scavenger hunt of sorts, because I have information on some of the murders that you all haven’t figured out.

But I’m not going to just give it to you, so you’ll have to participate!

I’ll give you the first clue.

i am not going to draw it because i would not be able to capture the majesty of this weapon. but here's the desc so you can imagine it yourself:

this is the first murder weapon apparently!!!

the note also reads "there's another place that you must go to...

where is it?

next clue is hidden a little bit better! is it up or down? we just don't know! just make sure you don't fall asleep, or else you'll run out of time!"

i think i have an idea. the wisteria tree- getting too close to the flowers, even the ones not attached, makes you sleepy. i can go check, i'll keep you updated.

( and away nene goes to the tree! she's going to look for anything caught in the branches, or signs of recently broken branches- given that the sap is blood red, that may be a good indicator. and to try and make sure she doesn't get hit with that drowsy effect if she has to climb, she's got herself a cloth mask. ... and probably noah spotting for her. )

[Pleased to threadjack and confirm that there is indeed a Noah spotting for her considering he tried to climb this tree last month and absolutely got fucked up by it, let's not talk about the bruises on his ribs from when he fell out of the tree after falling asleep... anyway.

[there do seem like there's some broken branches up there, but if there's anything up there at all it's not within immediate sight.

so...are we going to make the climb?]

[there looks like there's been some upended dirt around the other side of the tree, but there's not much else here...]

Noah, look- maybe someone was digging?

( mostly, she wants to point it out so he can spread the word if her mask doesn't save her. but it's time, so... careful not to break any branches or shake any flowers off, nene starts the climb, checking carefully for anything in the branches or the broken ones. )

[if Nene looks up, it looks like there might be something fluttering in the breeze, higher up. there are a few more broken branches leading up to it, though...so she should be careful.]

( she will be very careful in her climb to reach whatever it is further up there. what broke the branches... was it clamor and noah? but god she's hurrying because while she's unaware of this little fact, the sleepiness is proximity-based and not because of a smell or anything and she wants to get back down before she passes out.

so what's she find? )

[she gets closer to the thing that'd been pinned to the tree, and if she looks at it, it's another envelope with a heart on the outside.

it's very much like all the other ones that had been left around the school.]

( it's hers now, she's grabbing it and whatever's keeping it pinned and jumping, curling in both to land somewhat safely and to not hit anything on her way down. when she tries to stand, however, nene sways and just. grabs onto noah. hi noah. )

[the envelope was just being held in by a normal little tack, so there's not much of note there.

when Noah opens the letter, he can see a panda keychain sketched out at the top of the paper, looking like it's connected to something long and thin that ends up running off the side of the paper.
