(open) break yourself inside out

who: Whoever wants to show up.
what: Nine body pileup, who wants to compile info.
when: 10/7, at least
where: Dorms study hall
warnings: Attempted murder over children's games

[in the afternoon, a message shows up on the forums. is she copying Natsume? utterly, since his organization is why she's thinking about this.]

h.adams

Please try to set aside an hour or so of your time this evening at around 7:30 pm to return to the study hall. I'd like to speak with as many people as possible regarding the recent incident in the school.
-H.A.

[and she won't be replying to anything posted below it.

by the time the hour rolls around, Helena's set herself up in the study hall with the rolling whiteboard she took from the school set up. the markers are a toss up between colors, but the important part is there. she's seated herself by it, and when 7:30 hits, an alarm on her PDA goes off. silencing it, she stands up.]

Thank you for coming. I realize it's another demand on people's time, but given the vast scope of the murders, there's more to be said than unsaid. With it, we had no choice but to split up and find what we could, to do our best at the least to remember and categorize what we saw. Generally speaking, I'd like if we could pool our resources to see if we might draw any parallels between what was where, and if there are any peculiarities to distinguish this or that event.

With that said - [she points behind her at the whiteboard, where Rantarou has been kind enough to write out a list] - if we could try to speak individually, we could write down anything critical shared, so we could look at it from a larger perspective. As well, if something comes up in other days, we could reconvene and add in new information.

As I am unable to do it for you, please allow my dependable transcriber to do so. And a final note before we begin - if anyone becomes overly agitated, I request that you kindly step outside until you can keep your voice to a moderate level. Sound echoes well enough without yelling added to the mix.

Let's begin.

Faculty Hallway

[ Meng Yao will decide to share his portion of observations about the body found in the faculty hallway. ]

Ishimaru first found this body hanging in front of the counselor's office. Once we were able to get it down, it became clear to me that this was a girl who had brown hair and was a third year student from 3-E.

There was a long, deep gash that cut into her cheek on her face down to across her chest. It's enough to see the bone due to how far the slice had been made. I should mention that this was made expertly, with one stroke, and to me that speaks to a talent towards a bladed weapon of some kind made in a powerful strike.

There was also bruising on her neck, and upon further examination, it seems her trachea was crushed by a relatively strong force—either from something heavy being placed there or a rather strong individual. Again, I suspect that it's the latter if their primary weapon was a blade.

[yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah he's glad he didn't get that body ☆]

Can a sword or something really do that? Like, I see it a lot in movies, but I never thought someone could just ssssshink! like that, the way samurai do that cool quick-draw move of theirs~.

Oh yes, certainly. Especially when there's a good amount of force put behind the strike.

[ ...So, yeah! ]

I'm not familiar with what a samurai is, but I assume they're a warrior of some sort who is trained in wielding a blade.

It is! They're super awesome warriors that cut down their foes with one good, clean strike! It's super popular where I'm from, I've even got to play a rogue one once!

[samurai are..... a passion. he seems a little nostalgic, a little more at ease despite.... the situation.......]

My dad did a lot of roles like that too, so I remember a lot of cool lines he used to throw out just before he fell his foes~.

...They do sound rather incredible, and I'm not surprised you find them worth such admiration. I can only imagine how much of a good time it must have been for either of you to play such a role.

[ Meng Yao doesn't think it bad that the other gets excitable about something like this, even considering everything. ]

Either way, a warrior or powerful fighter of some type would fit the profile, at least in my opinion...

My apologies, it was just on one spot—right in the front of her neck, like whatever was used to crush her neck made the marks or rather, the bruises.

I believe that she wasn't strangled in that case, since it's not all over. Though the image of someone punching her in the throat is...well, one for certain, it's not entirely impossible. It was something that did admittedly come to mind, even if I thought it was excessive.

[ Of course it also goes without saying about the idea of a weapon or object used to create that sort of wound, but as the young woman puts it...it would be relatively awkward, and that is something he seems to agree with. ]

Yes, an object aimed precisely is another option, I suppose.

[ Meng Yao just sighs. Really, why do things have to be like this... ]

...I could speculate that it was just senseless violence at this point because anything else wouldn't make sense, unless the killer wanted to kill her quickly before cutting her open, and hanging her where she was. But in that case it'd require rather quick reflexes, so I believe that to be less likely.

[ So maybe it is just senseless violence because, Occam's Razor. ]

Exactly, yes.

[ ... ]

Well, there can be "magic" out there that can augment speed, so perhaps something like that.

It's entirely possible, and while it would be simpler to exclude it, it might be best for us to consider it as a possibility until we can rule it out for certain.

Either way, it seems the killer is a rather talented foe. In retrospect, I feel like it may be less of a surprise they managed to kill so many people.

I suppose you're right in that it seems a little too inconceivable, even if it was for example, a particularly strong, otherworldly person.

Everyone does have their limits...so perhaps whomever killed this student at least took care a majority of the bodies, or at least more than one.
