narumin rescue squad
Participants: Clamor, Hanako(npc), Helena, Hikaru(npc), Komaeda, Lucifer, Sara, Shin
Location: Sun 4
Date: ??? nebulously October
(ooc notes: I will state any possible content warnings in the subject line of the mod response when it comes up. If anything makes you uncomfortable, please tell me so I can back off and refocus the thread.
There will be no tag order, and a mod response will come whenever there's a good point to move the thread along. Please note this means that if you're absent for a day or more, the thread will move on, but I will pace things so that people aren't missing large plot beats.)

SIGHS you know what he doesn't wanna know actually, just. filing this away with all the other things he doesn't wanna address rn re: his murderous demon husband. it's fine.
they're keeping the gossip mag as a soulvenir]
Please just apologize anyway, even if it's some nonsense dream logic... he deserves at least that much after all this has put him through.

If he's not going to drink it, give it back. She'll give him the cup after if he wants. ]
Toyota Corolla. I'm kind of surprised I didn't see it in the parking lot when I came in this morning... Ito-san's rarely ever late. Wonder what happened to him.
[ Pours herself another cup of coffee if Komaeda won't give her back, and takes a swig either way. Three more hours left in the shift. She can make it. ]

It's at this point he remembers Kanna's trick (which is a pang of painful nostalgia in it's own right) but... hm, Komaeda's already typed on it and left some debris behind... He can at least look closely to see if any keys outside of 'Password1' show traces of being used.]

[Sorry people overhearing this weird lover's spat??]
I'll apologise to Narumi, out of both respect for him and you. ...I didn't murder his mother, however.

A C E L I N O R S T
also backspace and enter and the left shift button.
As for numbers, they're all fairly well worn, and it seems as if Ito-san almost exclusively uses the numpad on the right for his numbers instead of the row above the letters.
There's a fair bit of dust and grit in between the keys, and it could probably use a good shake upside down. ]

I sure hope not! Ito-san's been through so much already... All he has left is his son.
[ So, password clues:
"car year" ("car, year"?)
A C E L I N O R S T
and something related to his son ]
clawing our way out of laptop hell gomen :' )
Then if it's a year... the last two digits would still fit. He could type 79 in again but. His son, huh...]
Wait, you said it was his birthday today? Ahaha, we were so focused on the date but...
[That's also the classic, isn't it? It's almost too easy but... It's worth a try. I'm going to assume the calendar said 1999 as well as October for expediteing's sake. There's the sound of typing as he enters in 'corolla81' and with held breath, presses enter.]

7:00 AM, surgical unit 2A - Narumi Ito - Craniotomy
One of the minimized tabs has the cafeteria menu pulled up (the special for today is roasted sweet potato), another tab contains a unfinished email draft addressed to 10k10k@email.com ("Happy early birthday, kiddo. Your life is going to change tomorrow, and I promise things will be better. I have another late shift that will run until the middle of the night, but I'll drive home as soon as I ca"), and a third displaying yet another password locked login for patient medical records except they have no need to access that and no, corolla81 doesn't work.
It's 6:48 AM. ]

[This is a bit too much excitement from someone pretending to be as coolly confident as he was. Let him have this though passwords have been the bane of his existence up until now :' ) There's the genuine to his smile as he digs in to looking at everything.
He tries the password again on the locked file first because of course and... yep, that was a little too much to expect, really. Still. The fading mood pops like a soap bubble into something more pensive when he starts actually reading the actual contents of the accessible windows, because the environmental storytelling doesn't paint a good picture... He's played video games, he knows what it means when a message cuts off suddenly.]
Guys... [It's the slow 'turn around, but slowly' sort of tone of voice, with that undercut of searching desperation as he looks up at the rest of them.] We've got twelve minutes.
no subject
Hm... to go through that, the skull must be applying to much pressure on his brain, you can witness a procedure like that in the movie Saw... if you've ever seen it.
( when he looks at shin, he seems like the squeamish type, but that aside, he'll stare at the time at the bottom of the computer, and then look towards the double doors where narumi was taken. )
What do you think? ...Would you save his life, or let him go through with it?
( it's like a morality game. )

[ Gore should only be in exciting kurosawa action films where peoples hearts dramatically explode. Death games are horrible. Komeada should know this. ]
Obviously we're going to go save him? There was a bomb in his house! I don't trust anything in this place.

[sorry Shin, you're getting soul-yanked again to come back to the locked door, Helena feeling the edges to see if she can't figure a way to pry the stupid thing off. unlikely, but if they only have so little time, they need to move, as quickly as possible.]

Lucifer has a thought in his head.]
Move.
[He makes his way over to the locked door and places his hand upon it, a magic circle blooming to life across the door, glowing an ominous red.
If his chanting is anything to go by...
He's blowing the door up.]
no subject
he trusts Lucifer not to blow up the whole room but he will also calmly project his ~barrier spell~ for like the third time today, but this time he actually deploys it before something explodes... hooray!! No one is dying from shrapnel on his watch.]

The door bursts off its hinges, and while Clamor is able to protect his charges from any harm, the same doesn't go for the windows and pots of fake plants that shatter and the ground that shakes, the intercom crackling to life on the walls and booming out "CODE BLACK, GROUND FLOOR, MAIN ENTRANCE. CODE BLACK, GROUND FLOOR, MAIN ENTRANCE. CODE BLACK—"
With this warning in place, they can rightly assume that the patients and staff will steer clear of the entrance for the time being, moving towards the backside of the hospital where other potential exits are, while the staff on the other side of the now-missing door flee down the corridor out of the surgical unit and
one of them, in maroon technician scrubs and an extra label "TRAINEE" hanging under her name tag, recognizes Lucifer and starts to cry. She will not come back to work in this hospital after today. A senior receptionist in grey scrubs grabs hold of her arm, staring Lucifer down as if gauging whether to risk running past him or freeze in place until demands are made. Even further down the hall past a now empty receptionist's desk they can see doors labeled 1A, 2B, 1C, and then a turn in the hallway where they can assume the next set of operating rooms would be. From out of the doors and the end of the hallway, various surgeons in their green scrubs and headcovers, gloved and masked and ready to go, are poking their heads out the door to see what's going on; used to emergencies, these doctors don't seem very scared, but instead quietly calculating whether to continue with their surgeries at the risk to themselves, or abort in the middle at the risk to their patients.
...
They can hear police sirens in the far far distance. ]

[:)]
You can continue on with your days if you turn him over to us.

2A, first door around the corner. They were still in the middle of preop. I think they were just about to shave his head.
no subject
anyway, Clamor will take up the rear of their little group so they're covered on both sides and also so he can keep an eye on Komaeda and full name him if he starts waving his gun around again... please just let these imaginary doctors do their jobs in peace.]

compromise. )
no subject
Shouldn't someone get the bus ready?
[Now that Narumi isn't apparently in direct danger of being craniotomied (thanks for the mental images, Komaeda), those sirens are a concern because the almost shootout between Komaeda and Narumi was stressful enough, he's more than had his fill (of zero) of being shot at today. But he's hurrying along to 2A with the others anyway.]
no subject
Someone should, but I don't feel like walking outside to find out that someone's been arrested while the rest of us were picking Narumi up from pre-op. Do you?
no subject
[This is even worse than over text... he has no idea the storm that'll be coming in the cooking competition. Maybe if they're just quick enough then...]
no subject
"Um...?" is what the surgeon offers when everybody is inside and contaminating the operating room.
Are they just going to grab him and run away? Where are they going... What's the plan here...
If they believe they've learned everything they can about this mindscape, they may recall that Hanako's left one of his hakujoudai outside haunting the outskirts of the hospital, with which they can call for him. Otherwise they can continue being menaces to society until they're fully satisfied. ]
