straight up not having a good time
who: Leo Valdez & anyone else!
what: a new demigod has entered the school
when: november
where: various places
warnings: n/a, will add if needed
a:
[Finding himself drenched in a bathroom was not what Leo was expecting today. He had stopped Gaea, died in the process, but Festus was supposed to give him the Physician's Cure so he'd come back but--- where the hell was he? This was not Ogygia. His first thought was maybe Percy drenched him to put out the flames of his fantastic explosion, since he was definitely soaked with sea water, but as his mind cleared and the nausea settled, he realized...
This was a school bathroom. It wasn't camp, but it was...weirdly familiar??
Uh.
But as he looked around, trying to take in his surroundings while feeling like literally garbage, his glance into one of the mirrors left him breathless. He watched in the mirror as a memory of his mom played out, her showing him how to fix something in the garage, but he blinked and it was gone. Just him, staring back at himself. In the ugliest school uniform he had ever seen.]
What the-- Alright, Aphrodite, you're hilarious! But I was busy! Can I get back to saving Calypso already??? [Because who else likes throwing him into random places in a new outfit? He had no idea how anyone would find this stylish, though.
Anyone wandering on the 2nd floor might hear him cursing in the bathroom, or find him wandering around, still soaked as he tries to figure out what the hell was going on.]

[Leo was not happy about being here. He's dry and getting the lay out of things but he doesn't like it. First off, it was another freaking boarding school. How many of these places had he been sent? This one just felt....way more weird. Especially since he had weird, vague memories of being here before. It made no sense. He was glad to find his Camp Half Blood shirt in his locker, so he absolutely threw that and his army jacket back on, not even caring if he was technically supposed to be wearing the school uniform. Even if he did put it on, he was going to tear it up and make it cool, so. Better him stick with this.
But he still felt naked. No fire, no magic toolbelt. No friends. No Festus. And no Calypso. He hated this. He was supposed to be saving her and getting back to his friends. And now he was here, in this....school. Felt more like purgatory. Some trick from a god. Or maybe Gaea dragged him down to the Underworld when he killed her. Or...Tartarus. Either way, it sucked.
He's still wandering around, so you might run into him from time to time. You might find him around holding his hands out in front of him, trying to will his fire to appear with no luck. But if you happen to come across the young demigod while the ghosts are appearing, you might catch a glimpse of him looking absolutely terrified. He'll play it off if you approaching him, but ghosts freaked him out. Like. A lot.]

[Guess who found the workshop? Leo was over the moon. Even if he was miserable here, building things made him feel so much better. Anyone that comes through there might find him tinkering absently. It was a good distraction.
If you happen to be in a class with him, you might catch him doing the same. He definitely isn't paying attention in class, anyway. He was too ADHD for that on a good day, but he literally doesn't care about anything the teacher is saying. Just wait for him to show off what he's making. It'll definitely make a scene.]

[Wildcard! Feel free to hit me up for other scenarios!]

really, she doesn't mean to be rude herself, she's just trying to envision what he might be creating. that's...a new voice, as well. interesting.]

He finished it! His miniature of his trireme from back home! He had already shown it off to someone else before he finished it off, but once he got focused again, he was able to put all the finishing details on it.
But the more he looked at it, the more homesick he got. He set it back on the table, before slinking back in his chair and put his chin on the edge of the table.]
Wish you were as cool as the real thing. [Don't mind him, he misses his cool warship and his pet dragon.]
no subject
What's the "real thing?"
[even if they're strangers, she's every bit an attentive listener. this too is important - letting people be heard.]
no subject
huhwhat-- Oh? This beauty? You mean the most awesome and coolest war ship in the entire history of the world? [Leo that's a lot to live up to--]
Check out the Argo II, my fully automated flying trireme! It has oars that self propel, as well at switch into spears with battle mode, screens that project images of home in place of windows, magic plates that will make any food you want appear, and-- [DRUM ROLL PLZ] a fire breathing dragon masthead! Well, he's a full dragon and not just a masthead now, but-- you get it.

[and the compliment is as sincere as it could possibly be, coming from her heart. she's imagining all of it - such a thing has to be grand, like Captain Nemo's Nautilus,, only for the air as opposed to the sea.]
...May I see it?
[she's earnest, but a little hesitant, because she has to reach out her hand and hope he says yes. still, she'd like to be able to feel it and imagine what it would be like even further.]
no subject
But any hint of that pause is gone as he grins, proudly holding it out to her and sliding it gently into her hands.]
It's a beauty. Or, er-- was. It didn't like being thrown around by Zeus, but it did it's job.
no subject
It's amazing...
[but then something else sinks in, and her head snaps up.]
Wait, you said Zeus? As in the god?
no subject
Oh. oh shit.]
You're blind. [not a question, just a sudden observation.
GET IT TOGETHER LEO SHE ASKED YOU A QUESTION!!]
-- Oh right. Uh. Yeah, Zeus. The god of the sky. King of Olympus. Thrower of really cool boats. Not that great of a dad, though.
no subject
No, not from what I remember of reading myths...are you telling me that you met him?
[control yourself, Helena. the literal devil is walking these halls and you question a boy who knows gods?]
no subject
Well, yeah. I mean, technically he's my uncle? Not the biggest fan, what with him closing down Olympus and ignoring us, but it's whatever.
[Oh right. Most people here think the gods aren't real. He needs to stop forgetting that.]
no subject
[oh, oh, she knows this! she can puzzle this out! she remembers enough from stories, and especially since she just made Sou go through certain poems with her...]
Are you a hero, then?
[that sounds nicer than just saying half-god.]
no subject
So that's a yes. Yes, I am.
no subject
My goodness. Well, I'm very happy to meet you, Mr. Valdez! I've never met someone like you before, but with those kind of accomplishments, I'm sure it's no surprise.
[and then, before she forgets:]
I'm Helena Adams.
no subject
I know, meeting me is a pretty big deal. Now you can check "meeting a real life demigod" off your bucket list!
