straight up not having a good time
who: Leo Valdez & anyone else!
what: a new demigod has entered the school
when: november
where: various places
warnings: n/a, will add if needed
a:
[Finding himself drenched in a bathroom was not what Leo was expecting today. He had stopped Gaea, died in the process, but Festus was supposed to give him the Physician's Cure so he'd come back but--- where the hell was he? This was not Ogygia. His first thought was maybe Percy drenched him to put out the flames of his fantastic explosion, since he was definitely soaked with sea water, but as his mind cleared and the nausea settled, he realized...
This was a school bathroom. It wasn't camp, but it was...weirdly familiar??
Uh.
But as he looked around, trying to take in his surroundings while feeling like literally garbage, his glance into one of the mirrors left him breathless. He watched in the mirror as a memory of his mom played out, her showing him how to fix something in the garage, but he blinked and it was gone. Just him, staring back at himself. In the ugliest school uniform he had ever seen.]
What the-- Alright, Aphrodite, you're hilarious! But I was busy! Can I get back to saving Calypso already??? [Because who else likes throwing him into random places in a new outfit? He had no idea how anyone would find this stylish, though.
Anyone wandering on the 2nd floor might hear him cursing in the bathroom, or find him wandering around, still soaked as he tries to figure out what the hell was going on.]

[Leo was not happy about being here. He's dry and getting the lay out of things but he doesn't like it. First off, it was another freaking boarding school. How many of these places had he been sent? This one just felt....way more weird. Especially since he had weird, vague memories of being here before. It made no sense. He was glad to find his Camp Half Blood shirt in his locker, so he absolutely threw that and his army jacket back on, not even caring if he was technically supposed to be wearing the school uniform. Even if he did put it on, he was going to tear it up and make it cool, so. Better him stick with this.
But he still felt naked. No fire, no magic toolbelt. No friends. No Festus. And no Calypso. He hated this. He was supposed to be saving her and getting back to his friends. And now he was here, in this....school. Felt more like purgatory. Some trick from a god. Or maybe Gaea dragged him down to the Underworld when he killed her. Or...Tartarus. Either way, it sucked.
He's still wandering around, so you might run into him from time to time. You might find him around holding his hands out in front of him, trying to will his fire to appear with no luck. But if you happen to come across the young demigod while the ghosts are appearing, you might catch a glimpse of him looking absolutely terrified. He'll play it off if you approaching him, but ghosts freaked him out. Like. A lot.]

[Guess who found the workshop? Leo was over the moon. Even if he was miserable here, building things made him feel so much better. Anyone that comes through there might find him tinkering absently. It was a good distraction.
If you happen to be in a class with him, you might catch him doing the same. He definitely isn't paying attention in class, anyway. He was too ADHD for that on a good day, but he literally doesn't care about anything the teacher is saying. Just wait for him to show off what he's making. It'll definitely make a scene.]

[Wildcard! Feel free to hit me up for other scenarios!]

He sets aside his project in favor of watching with the other person is working on. He'll wait until he seems to have hit a good stopping point, or at least has paused, before he approaches. This kid doesn't look to be much older than perhaps 16, but he suspects that they have a surprising amount of talent.
So, he comments: ]
Not half bad.
no subject
He's got a pile of gizmos and gadgets next to him that he still has to figure out what they can do, plus his newly completed miniature of his trireme from back home.
But this time he's building something with intention: A one push collapsible tent.
He didn't realize Ranger was watching him so closely until he approached and spoke up. Leo pushed his chair back, using his foot to prop it up on the back two legs.]
Think so? I dunno, I feel like it needs a little more ~pizzazz~ [please for the love of all the gods do not give him anymore ideas, he's already considering a disco ball or maybe fireworks---]
no subject
He rocks back on his heels, humming thoughtfully as he considers that. ]
Yeah, I guess you're right, ahaha! You gotta add a person touch to it, otherwise it's just sorta boring! How much d'ya think you can fit in there?
[ sorry gods, he's only capable of being a bad influence. ]
no subject
You get me, dude. But I'm torn on what I want to do. I could add a disco ball that lights up the inside when I activate it. Oh! Oh, I got it. Finger print activation, spot lights and a speaker turns on and goes "LEO THE GREATEST AND HOTTEST DEMIGOD EVER HAS RETURNED." [Because that's not overkill or anything...]
Uhhh. I dunno. I was only planning for like, two, but if I wanna add the work bench, that's going to take up a lot of space.
no subject
[ It's definitely overkill, but it's a funny kind of overkill so it's fine. If anyone has any noise complaints, they can take it up then. Though the word demigod does give him a little bit of a pause. He'd been gradually learning to accept the existence of magic and spirits (though he still has no idea how an AI could possibly be reincarnated,) but gods not so much. This place sure did like to throw curveballs right on at him. ]
Don't suppose you can expand it?
no subject
[Everything about Leo is overkill and you, sir, are helping NOTHING.]
I dunno, probably. If I add extra joints, I can easily make it bigger, but this metal is so flimsy. [Spoilers, it's not, he's just used to working with magic metal.] I never thought I'd miss Celestial Bronze so much.
no subject
[ Granted, it's not terrible, but it's not exactly the top quality materials that he's used to working with either. ]
What's Celestial Bronze? Never heard of that one.
[ It sounds pretty fancy. ]
no subject
[Using that stuff, he could only imagine what neat tricks he could put into his tent. Probably make it more like the fancy ones the Hunters of Artemis used.]
no subject
Ranger's not very expressive at the best of times, but he leans forward a little as he thinks about it, running through ideas in his head. ]
Huh, for real? Damn, that's enough to make me jealous! Company I'm from has made some pretty amazing stuff, but I can only imagine what you could slap together with something like that... Ah, what kind of projects have you worked on? You gotta tell me about 'em.
[ Sorry Leo. This is his field. ]
no subject
That baby right there! Well, imagine her, like. Life size. Fully bronze. In the air. Complete with a living dragon masthead. [The Argo II was his life's work. It was hard to compare to that. Though rebuilding Festus and fixing the Archimedes sphere's were pretty close up there.]
no subject
Damn, for real? How old did you say you are?
[ It should be a several year project at least, and not something one person could accomplish - still, if he wasn't joking about being demigod, Ranger supposes that might explain the impossible feat. It doesn't damper his excitement in the least. ]
no subject
Oh damn. I guess I turned sixteen not too long ago. [Being someone that hasn't really had a family in years and not stayed in one place for too long, he never really...celebrated. Or had someone to celebrate with. And it's kind of hard to celebrate when you're on a quest to save the world. He honestly just forgot.]
no subject
Sixteen? That's pretty impressive. How'd you learn so fast? Did somebody teach you?
[ He's being really nosy now, but he's really curious. He likes people with talent. ]
