[He can't help but smile at the way Nene just beams with delight. He's glad he chose right, and he's even more glad that he brought it to her. He had been on the verge of not doing it simply out of nerves.

Regardless, he was glad to see her smile. It had been too long, he thinks.

He doesn't want to bother her while she eats, so instead he pulls out a folded piece of paper from his jacket pocket and quietly started making another paper crane.]

[He didn't mind the silence. It was always rather comforting to be with someone he enjoyed being around in silence. It felt... nice. And Nene seemed to be enjoying the soup, so that's what mattered.

After a moment, though, he noticed her watching him and he held up the folded paper.]

Do you know how to make paper cranes?

[He scoots a little closer, still leaving enough space so he wasn't invading her space or crowding her so she could continue eating. He held his hands out, making sure she could see how he folds the paper. He took it slow this time, every now and then telling her how to fold it this way and that to make sure that it was as easy to understand as possible.

It didn't take long before the piece of paper turned into a crane. He set it down on the tray next to the other one, the smile on his face softer and fonder... if that was even possible.]
