( that's a lot of faith she seems to have in kazuki's honesty; amami wishes he could say the same. )

There could be a reason, but I guess it doesn't have to be. I just wanted to bring up the possibility, 'cause there are plenty of things he hasn't been frank about in the past.

( like the fact that he considered the school a fridge for a good while there. amami gives a little huff though, glances at the door as she steps away from it. )

Anyway, if it's there, he may be hiding it for our "safety." The boundaries are supposedly set up for that reason in the first place, after all.

[decrypter]

If something really wants to keep us safe, they wouldn't allow so much murder to happen in these walls.

[she's just going to put that out there.]

The students I heard talking said something about a god, so there's that as well.

[sisters]

Not that I don't agree, but I also think most of us would stand a better chance against another student than Kazuki-san, if it came down to it.

( it's not like he buys the excuse, hence air quotes "safety" and "supposedly," but he may as well point out the obvious as well in this case. )

[decrypter]

Oh, I'd have the same poor chances against them both.

[she says it with a thin smile, knowing he will understand what she means - she'd be dead by either of them. students or Kazuki, all she can do is evade. if they really intended her death, they'd have it.]

Anyway, I don't wish to be on anyone's bad side to that degree.

[sisters]

I wouldn't be so sure. You don't necessarily need to get on Kazuki-san's bad side, and he's...

( moderately terrifying, he wants to say? but rather than putting the fear of god into helena, he just shakes his head. )

Anyway, not that I buy that they have our best interests at heart or anything, but the excuse they used for the courtyard checks out.

[decrypter]

So then them doing the same thing for the forest likely also checks out.

[her fingers tap on her cane, and she frowns.]

Even so, I still want to know what's hidden. I don't want to risk anyone's life except my own, however - I don't want anything to happen to them.

[sisters]

Now, now, I wasn't trying to discourage you. It's good to know what we're getting into though, don't ya think?

( and speaking of which, there's something he's been meaning to do surrounding that. with everything going on as of late, and the state he was in for the earlier part of the term wasn't so great either, but they do have a resource that might help them, should they manage to get out there. )

For now, I'm willing to bet that the way out isn't going to open so easily to something like logic, but that's not the only step we need to take anyway. I've got something in mind that I'd like to test, but there are some preparations I'd like to have ready for once we're able to get out. What do you say?

[this is enough to get her to brighten a little. by now, he should know that she's amiable to testing and trying many different things - even if she isn't quite sure what they are, she's willing to give him what help she can.]

If we're going to be seeing what's out there, it's pretty important that we know how to find our way back too. I was thinking, maybe if we asked around some of the local students, they could let us know what the area around us is like.

( he's not oblivious to how this might sound though, and despite a short pause to gauge her reaction so far, he's quick to tack on: )

Just descriptions is fine — I think I might be able to draw something up if we get a couple of them.

[she seems pretty excited when he mentions it, and nods her head quickly to indicate she's following along, ready to leap in and do something. progress! she knows a number of students who she might able to talk to if they're not lost to the books for finals.]

I've got some friends I can talk to. Perhaps I can get a little more information from them - I can even play up the fact that I can't see to get them to elaborate more.

[since she rarely does this, it wouldn't raise any alarm, and she knows how to sound sincere instead of interrogating.]
