[ Joe's timing is fortunate. Ranger tends to come and go as he pleases, though he had been showing a bit up more often at night as of late thanks to his new found status as Komaeda's winter space heater, but even so he was fairly spotty. For now, though, he had just come to grab a couple things. He's just finished tucking things away when he hears the door open, and lifts his head to look.
He stares at the wrapped package for a moment. It's pretty obvious that he doesn't have experience with this kind of thing, but Ranger doesn't particularly mind that. ]
Huh.. You? Ahaha, that's quite the coincidence, dontchya think?
[ Joe isn't one of the participants he'd met, but even so, it's easier to feel as though he knows him than it is many others here. And so it is that hhe doesn't sound displeased by this turn of events, though. He takes the package, with one hand, tilting his head and leaning slightly from one side to the other as he tries to discern the contents. It's not perfect, but it does the job well enough. ]
Hmm, what could it be?
[ He does seem genuinely curious about it... Honestly, he hadn't expected anyone to go out of their way like this. He flops down on the bed, sitting with the package on his lap. ]
Ahaha yea I thought so too! But it made it more fun to pull together honestly!
[ That is, setting most of the things Ranger asked for on his list aside! Cause most of it was.... alarming. And not just the murder weapons. But there was some really personal stuff Joe's not sure he should've saw. He doesn't know what to make about the wish to be human either...
But for now he's not thinking about that. He's too eager for Ranger to open the gift. ]
C'mon man! I'm dying for you to see!
[ He watches to see Ranger's reaction to the gift inside. It's a mix of excitement and anxiety, unsure of how the floormaster will like it or not. But he's hopeful. ]
[ Look, Joe, one man's alarm is another man's safety net, and he was really hoping for the Winchester. But he'll settle for what's been given. ]
Yeah, yeah, hold your horses.
[ He waves his free hand, but he is curious to see. Ranger works at the wrapping paper with just that hand, not letting his card drop. It's somewhat impressive, but he's learned to do such things. He scoots down enough to lay down the items one at a time, blinking curiously as he observes the entire set at the end. It's not quite something he'd pick for himself, but it's quite cute, and he doesn't dislike either of those things. He notes the hoodie, with it's crossbody bear bag, and the gloves. They're shorter than what he wears now, but lifting one up again he can confirm that they'd be long enough to hide the tallies on his wrist.
It's a nice gift, nicer than what he expected, but then that was easy for a person who had no expectations at all. He keeps his eyes on it, setting the glove down so he can run gloved fingers over the fabric of the various items. ]
Ahaha, would you look at that!
[ He doesn't sound displeased, at least. After a minute or so he looks back to Joe. ]
Yeah you like it? I'm glad! I like your style, so I tried to stick close to that! With a bit of my own touch of course!
[ And a lot of input from the student council. Some of them wanted him to pick more school appropriate things, but Joe's been bad about dresscode for years now. The afterlife isn't going to change that any time soon. He had been careful too that they couldn't see the rest of that list either... ]
Sorry it's kinda the wrong season for it, but I thought hey maybe at least it'd give you something to look forward to in spring! Though it's probably fine to just wear around.
It's fine, I don't really have to worry about the weather. Spring will be here soon, anyway.
[ Actually, he might have occasionally seen Komaeda wearing Ranger's hoodie (possibly along with other people's winter wear.) He doesn't really need it, while his partner might as well be a lizard, so he allows this in small doses. But it seems to him it was just the shorts that weren't seasonally appropriate, so this is really accepted.
Still... Hearing somebody say they like his style is nice. He hadn't expected that either. ]
Anyway, I like it. I can tell you picked it out.
[ Which is to say, it does have his style to it too. It's not a bad thing. ]
[ Joe doesn't get it, but he has noticed Ranger never does seem bothered by the cold. But obviously there's a layer he's missing there since he doesn't know Ranger very well at all.
For now that's fine though. His response puts a grin on Joe's face. ]
I'm really glad to hear it man! Can't wait to see you in it!
[ Time for Joe's Christmas gift of things he never wanted to know. ]
Yep, my temperature self regulates, so even extreme temperatures aren't a problem.
[ The rest will have to wait, but he does shrug off the cat hoodie in favor of slipping into the hoodie that was given to him. He tugs at the edges to pull it all the way down, tilting his head down to look. Rio doesn't tend to favor neutrals, hence the colorful accessories added to his uniform, but the pop of blue and the pouch that goes along with it is enough for him to be satisfied. It's pretty comfortable. ]
[ Joe just... kind of stares for moment. Trying to process what Ranger's saying to him. ]
Oh... yeah! Like sweat! Haha yeah I know what you mean!
[ He's a really sweaty person after all.
But he does look away when Ranger starts to change. He's changed around other guys constantly with all the sports he plays, but he knows better than to be so rude even if there isn't really anything to see.
Joe'll look back when he's finished and grins brightly at him. ]
[ Joe please, he has a shift on under his hoodie. It's appreciated all the same, though, as Ranger has always been fairly self conscious about his appearance and being watched. He tugs at the front of it again. ]
You think so? Ah, I'll have to make sure I wear it then... It should be fine for this weather.
[ He seems satisfied with that assessment, and he nods as though committed to this decision now. He'll have to be careful to ensure that it doesn't get stained. That being said... ]
It's winter, I don't think anyone's sweating right now.
