( there's various hidden signs that point towards the elevator, and if anyone catches sight, they'll see an arrow that points up, indicating for them to take it skyward. if they get off too early, there's a sign on the floor that reads, "next stop!", so if they dare, they can go back into the elevator and do as the words command. upon making your way to the rooftop on new year's eve, the setup is immediately apparent.
a number of glittering, sparkling decorations line the area — streamers, balloons, music, and a brightly colored sign the reads: happy birthday hinachan. at the heart of the setup is a bonfire that reaches almost shoulder-height — properly set up to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere further than its containment area, it sets a festive tone.
"borrowed" desks are also covered in an array of treats and appetizers courtesy of nene and amami, as well as enough love setsugetsukka to "make 3 people black out," which is probably enough to share if nobody gets too ambitious. the cake at the center of it all is the real star of the show however, almost as big as a person all on it's own.
to top it all off, even under the dim glow of the stars, nobody is short of a little light when natsume and noah's dazzling light show begins. once the main event has closed, a variety of firecrackers are brought out to celebrate with as things begin to wind down. varieties include the classic sparklers, these little spinny bitches, funky little sparkshowers, some little baby rockets, with the larger varieties spanning a couple feet at most. on the opposite side, there's a little table where a birdhouse is kept, and inside stuffed with all sorts of cotton and wood shavings are two birds huddled together inside, and a few treats that people can feed them if interest. if keigo looks at your character from afar, it's fine, that birdhouse they're living in was made by them, after all.
and at the centre of it all will be one boy with a bag over his head, kidnapped by rokuro arata, who sits him down and lets komaeda undo his blindfold — happy birthday, hinata-kun! )

? we're dead we need to live a little
( the face that he made tells it all, you know when someone tries alcohol for the first time, and then their brows knit together. now, komaeda's not a bad influence, but he'll better the experience for him since he's new at this. he'll walk noah over to one of the desks that's covered in cups, and a fruit bowl set to the side where he grabs an orange, and a few cherries. holding up the latter to noah, )
Interested in these too?
damn... u right
Yeah, I like cherries. The only fruit I can't have is peaches.
[Is peaches? Are peaches? Grammar? Whatever.]
What do we do, just put the fruit in the liquor and let it sit there? Or...
[Or are they juicing the fruit or does he eat the fruit after taking a drink or what, Noah knows nothing.]
thinkin bout being drunk investigating day 1
( perhaps if he puts that in noah's mind, it won't be too bad to indulge in the beverage as komaeda drops about two plain cherries into the cup, but then he crushes three others, juicing them in away so he can pour that too. )
Since they're cherries, you eat those first, tie the stem into a knot, and then you drink.
drunk investigations are the best ones
[Noah "this sign can't stop me because I can't read!" Ebalon]
Also, why do I tie the stems into knots? Is that a tradition or something?
[So that he can do this right, you know?]
wish amami and natsume was drunk falling into the void
( why can't noah read, why does komaeda's hyung have to be jaredd 19? he doesn't mind though, it makes him smile a little as he holds up one cherry to offer over to him. )
A yearly tradition, it'll come in handy if you're able to do it... that said, can you?
no subject
[Noah takes the cherry, and then he just has to ask:]
You mean tie the cherry stem with my tongue, don't you? I-I've never tried, so I dunno.
no subject
( he looks to the stems, plucking one off a cherry as he begins to tie it with his hands. )
You should try! I'll even do it with you, it's actually pretty fun if you can get the hang of it.

[A lot can change in 500 years, too, and admittedly volcanic activity was the furthest thing from his mind when he woke up.
That said... Noah tries his damn best to tie the cherry stem into a knot as instructed, which results in plenty of weird faces while he fidgets with it. This is... difficult. Why is this difficult?]
no subject
( well, it's not a conversation opener, but it can sure as hell be one as he looks at noah try and tie the stem. he forgets all about it as he sits down, rolling a cherry on the table as he pops the stem off to bite the fruit. )
Did you wake up angry, too?
