( there's various hidden signs that point towards the elevator, and if anyone catches sight, they'll see an arrow that points up, indicating for them to take it skyward. if they get off too early, there's a sign on the floor that reads, "next stop!", so if they dare, they can go back into the elevator and do as the words command. upon making your way to the rooftop on new year's eve, the setup is immediately apparent.
a number of glittering, sparkling decorations line the area — streamers, balloons, music, and a brightly colored sign the reads: happy birthday hinachan. at the heart of the setup is a bonfire that reaches almost shoulder-height — properly set up to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere further than its containment area, it sets a festive tone.
"borrowed" desks are also covered in an array of treats and appetizers courtesy of nene and amami, as well as enough love setsugetsukka to "make 3 people black out," which is probably enough to share if nobody gets too ambitious. the cake at the center of it all is the real star of the show however, almost as big as a person all on it's own.
to top it all off, even under the dim glow of the stars, nobody is short of a little light when natsume and noah's dazzling light show begins. once the main event has closed, a variety of firecrackers are brought out to celebrate with as things begin to wind down. varieties include the classic sparklers, these little spinny bitches, funky little sparkshowers, some little baby rockets, with the larger varieties spanning a couple feet at most. on the opposite side, there's a little table where a birdhouse is kept, and inside stuffed with all sorts of cotton and wood shavings are two birds huddled together inside, and a few treats that people can feed them if interest. if keigo looks at your character from afar, it's fine, that birdhouse they're living in was made by them, after all.
and at the centre of it all will be one boy with a bag over his head, kidnapped by rokuro arata, who sits him down and lets komaeda undo his blindfold — happy birthday, hinata-kun! )

( looking pretty amused as komaeda follows with his own little luzon call, he'll peek inside too. i don't know how birds act and i'm not looking it up, so instead i'm kind of imagining them all cuddled up together in the nest like cats in a bed, almost stacked up with puffed feathers to protect them from the winter chill, but cute for it all the same. )
Are you the one who found these little guys?
( that sounds about like komaeda's luck. )
no subject
that's how komaeda hears it, actually, erasing majority just so he can continuously praise him as if he always knew bird language. it's the affection and excitement he wants to give them for being so knowledgeable, that makes him smile in this case with a nod. yes, he must be amazed, because he's amazed at everyone amami does. )
Ah? Me... Do you believe my luck can bring people together, let alone animals?
( there's no use denying, and it's straightforward as he takes the credit, partly. )
Actually, yeah! My luck has its uses... finding things people can't get themselves. Are you interested in them?
no subject
( or maybe amami just doesn't pay enough attention to what kinds of birds live where, idk i'm not about to google where luzons live. point is, he's not the ultimate birdkeeper, so he's taking this at face value as he continues, gesturing absently and explaining his thought process on the callout here. )
Kamo-kun seems to like 'em a lot, and you two are pretty close too, right? So just guessing based on what makes sense.
no subject
( both npckun and rokkun, so there's no way komaeda wouldn't like them. their feelings always bleed everywhere, and komaeda tends to walk in the blood that they drip behind. it's why he becomes nosy. )
Nice educated guess, I wouldn't expect anything more of an Ultimate of your caliber.
( a pause, ) It's the first animal aside from cats and rats that I've seen. So do take care of them...
no subject
( bleeding heart doves... that remind komaeda of people special to him, huh? and not only that, but the emphasis in the pause, amami's really feeling the pressure. well, even so... )
Don't worry. I wouldn't want to do anything that would make Kamo-kun sad, or you for that matter. Guess we'll need you to find us some books on caring for doves next, huh?
( considering the ease with which he found those fish and seahorse books. )

( they'll love them because komaeda loves them, they'll adore an ultimate because they can sense the hope coming from him. this is not wrong because komaeda can feel the hope that stirs inside of amami, and so he can look towards the luzons wondering if they react positively.
they haven't made any noise that shows they're against him. )
...Amami-kun, don't worry over the small things. As long as you are yourself, nothing will go wrong. Such bravery goes a long way, especially in this scenario.
( with a laugh, he'll nod, do they need books on doves next? ) They've been here for awhile now, what would you like to know?
no subject
( they love ultimates, huh? amami's about 99% confident they couldn't care less what an ultimate was, but let him just. smile and nod. smile and nod. at least komaeda gives him another in into something that isn't so hope-related, so amami quickly reaches to take it; what does he want to know? )
Not sure it takes too much bravery to take care of some doves, but thanks. I'll do my best, in any case.
( and his question: )
How about names? Have you guys given them any yet?
no subject
( he's speaking casually on the subject, looking to the birds inside of the house as he reassures them that they're not the same, or... they don't have to be yet. it's that soft smile of komaeda's that remains as he looks up to amami again, and he adds a little bit to put him at ease as well. )
You have a brilliant light, so they'll flock to it. Such bravery.
( ... )
Anyway, have you ever fed birds before?
no subject
Sounds like you've had some... very unique experiences with birds. I guess they don't have names yet either.
( don't think he's going to forget his own question just because you're out here saying freak shit to him. well, he'll shake his head though. )
Nah, sounds kind of relaxing though.
no subject
( he motions his hand like a bird, before grabbing his prosthetic to show how it went. it wasn't frightening, nor was it a good experience either. he can remember the flapping off their wings, how he was carried off to their nest for four days, and three nights. )
Sounds like bad luck, right?
no subject
( because he's not really sure what to say to that — it does? it does sound pretty rough? so here he is with his (zuko atla voice) that's rough buddy. it's fine. he does kind of pause though, when he really considers it. peers at komaeda with an expression that's curious, but he doesn't sound like he's trying to pry too deeply... testing the waters to see if he can get a little more. )
That's not the kind of thing I'd expect from your talent though.
no subject
( straight out of an indiana jones movie as he lifts his hand, making the width and height of the egg that he found. he remembers how smooth to the touch it was, so he brushes his fingers together while trying to explain at the same time. )
Did you hear about the Imperial Coronation egg that got stolen...? You wouldn't, because they didn't want the national news to know. I used the light from the sun to send out a distress signal, and I was rescued, and then they paid me ¥300M for the trouble, an extra ¥200M so that I could actually eat a good meal.
( with that said, he looks to amami with an unsure smile, as if he doesn't know if this explains anything. it's overwhelming for a story, but he's looking at the luzons like he doesn't mind it, and maybe that's why birds like him. though, all animals usually enjoy being around komaeda, so that was just his luck working. )
That was the good luck! I can even go into the Moscow's Kremlin Armory Museum and Faberge Museum for free whenever I want. Ahaha... you know, it'd be horrible if they lost a piece of history, there's already eight missing, losing nine would cause an uproar.
( considering they're almost to completion. )
