( there's various hidden signs that point towards the elevator, and if anyone catches sight, they'll see an arrow that points up, indicating for them to take it skyward. if they get off too early, there's a sign on the floor that reads, "next stop!", so if they dare, they can go back into the elevator and do as the words command. upon making your way to the rooftop on new year's eve, the setup is immediately apparent.
a number of glittering, sparkling decorations line the area — streamers, balloons, music, and a brightly colored sign the reads: happy birthday hinachan. at the heart of the setup is a bonfire that reaches almost shoulder-height — properly set up to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere further than its containment area, it sets a festive tone.
"borrowed" desks are also covered in an array of treats and appetizers courtesy of nene and amami, as well as enough love setsugetsukka to "make 3 people black out," which is probably enough to share if nobody gets too ambitious. the cake at the center of it all is the real star of the show however, almost as big as a person all on it's own.
to top it all off, even under the dim glow of the stars, nobody is short of a little light when natsume and noah's dazzling light show begins. once the main event has closed, a variety of firecrackers are brought out to celebrate with as things begin to wind down. varieties include the classic sparklers, these little spinny bitches, funky little sparkshowers, some little baby rockets, with the larger varieties spanning a couple feet at most. on the opposite side, there's a little table where a birdhouse is kept, and inside stuffed with all sorts of cotton and wood shavings are two birds huddled together inside, and a few treats that people can feed them if interest. if keigo looks at your character from afar, it's fine, that birdhouse they're living in was made by them, after all.
and at the centre of it all will be one boy with a bag over his head, kidnapped by rokuro arata, who sits him down and lets komaeda undo his blindfold — happy birthday, hinata-kun! )

[ How many things would change, if that happened right there? She can't even imagine it, just how chaotic the start would be. Maybe Komeada could be some sort of savant and get everyone to join together, but...the first trial was basically a popularity contest. Maybe he couldn't win that. So switching might be dooming him, even if Sara felt fairly confident she could survive herself. She doesn't know much about his own game...but it hadn't seemed as bad. A game where you just don't need to kill seemed easy. But easy isn't always "good". ]
I wouldn't want to leave them behind. There are some people there I think you'd really like, and I'm sure I'd like your friends in your game....but we were allies. I was the leader, I couldn't pick to leave. I mean...even now I can't stop thinking about how much I want to get back.

( it mist be hilarious, but to hear that he'd be going off the deep end with shin is actually hilarious to him. would he cause that much trouble? he smiles after rubbing his chin thoughtfully, watching sara with curious eyes. what type of vote would it be that they'd have to cancel, even though komaeda failed getting the votes in his first trial, to be found out by hinata which led to everyone ignoring him in favor of finding the true murderer, and even komaeda gave up when the culprit started to show weakness. )
So you wouldn't switch because you're a leader... that's true, back where I'm from, I'm no leader. I guide them when they're lost, I drop hints when I feel they've strayed off their path, I'll even tell them I'm the killer! Yet, you can tell a person the truth, and everyone will bat an eye! They were pretty stupid, and they did let me down from time to time, allowing their hope to waver at every wrong turn... I can't imagine being walled in when you can climb, or dig, or just knock the whole wall down! Ahaha, so I would give them the ability to...! So remember that, Chidouin-san, no matter what your allies do, they'll be able to open up opportunities that you'd never believe, the choices they make solidifies their hope, and with it revolving around you... I'm sure they'll want you back.
( what does komaeda ever be thinking about? well, them gaining sara back, and as komaeda thinks about it, even his own group doesn't want him back. even though he guide them, led them to victory by giving himself to a certain cause, he knows that he has to place there now. a tired chuckle leaves from him as he reaches for sara's drink, taking a small sip just to have something on his tongue as he sits it down. )

[ Just both of them acting progressively more unstable and weird in an attempt to manipulate the group and make everyone think they had a certain role. But...well Sou was only faking it, but Komeada really would die if he thought the group wanted it, so that would be pretty scary. Sara would hate to be in a debate with both of them...but she's sure the floormasters would also hate it. Perhaps they'd invent a bunch of new, Komeada-specific rules to keep things fair? ]
If you didn't say scary things, I think you could be an okay leader...but you're right. They're very precious people to me. Even if I couldn't save everyone and a lot of memories hurt, I couldn't have gotten anywhere without people lifting me up.

( the sacrifice card is that big of a bomb drop, ranger had already told him how they all work. if shin did have that card, he would probably take that young girl along with him is what komaeda thinks. everyone else would have died, but the way sara smiles about it, maybe she's already accepted that, or it's the beverage that's getting to her. either way, acceptance is the best way to go. )
Ah... am I scary? I'm really weak, and I'm pathetic too, but to be a leader... I'd rather help the protagonist, that way I can see their hope. Then die happy.
