( there's various hidden signs that point towards the elevator, and if anyone catches sight, they'll see an arrow that points up, indicating for them to take it skyward. if they get off too early, there's a sign on the floor that reads, "next stop!", so if they dare, they can go back into the elevator and do as the words command. upon making your way to the rooftop on new year's eve, the setup is immediately apparent.

a number of glittering, sparkling decorations line the area — streamers, balloons, music, and a brightly colored sign the reads: happy birthday hinachan. at the heart of the setup is a bonfire that reaches almost shoulder-height — properly set up to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere further than its containment area, it sets a festive tone.

"borrowed" desks are also covered in an array of treats and appetizers courtesy of nene and amami, as well as enough love setsugetsukka to "make 3 people black out," which is probably enough to share if nobody gets too ambitious. the cake at the center of it all is the real star of the show however, almost as big as a person all on it's own.

to top it all off, even under the dim glow of the stars, nobody is short of a little light when natsume and noah's dazzling light show begins. once the main event has closed, a variety of firecrackers are brought out to celebrate with as things begin to wind down. varieties include the classic sparklers, these little spinny bitches, funky little sparkshowers, some little baby rockets, with the larger varieties spanning a couple feet at most. on the opposite side, there's a little table where a birdhouse is kept, and inside stuffed with all sorts of cotton and wood shavings are two birds huddled together inside, and a few treats that people can feed them if interest. if keigo looks at your character from afar, it's fine, that birdhouse they're living in was made by them, after all.

and at the centre of it all will be one boy with a bag over his head, kidnapped by rokuro arata, who sits him down and lets komaeda undo his blindfold — happy birthday, hinata-kun! )

[he'd said to forget it, but of course Komaeda pries... perhaps it's what Add expected. he'd tried so hard to breed ill-will before, but he never did tell Komaeda or anyone else what happened during finals, and even now... he tilts his head, trying to subtly (not-very-subtly) look for where Noah is. he knows the boy somewhere at this party, surely he's had a chance by now to tell people about what happened... is it indifference? pity? is he just biding his time? it's the not knowing that bothers Add most, as always.

does he care about what other people think of him? it's always been an act, as much as he tries to deny it. he's always cared. that's why it's so hard to push people away.]

Do as I please... but they still don't leave me alone. Troublesome...

[did Raven ever like him...? he's tried not to think about it for so long, it's difficult for him to say now, but... perhaps there were times they got along. nights like what he saw in the elevator, peaceful days where everyone spent time together as a group...

his gaze settles on the claw. blades scraping together, a sound that most would find grating or unsettling but that Add can only think of as a comfort—he trusted Raven, even if Raven shouldn't have trusted him.]

... that doesn't matter, either. I... don't see him anymore, even before this place. Everyone in that group... they were just a liability.

( add does as he pleases, and that's why no one steers away from him. komaeda can see it, he's aware, in a way, he knows that add is much better than him in terms of relating with other people. where komaeda's complicated, add is stronger in making an effort in creating bonds where as komaeda hardly practices what he preaches. with a small smile, gentle as it can be, he thinks of the way add looked around for certain people, or maybe he doesn't want anyone he cares for to hear this conversation. )

It's not a bad thing that they don't leave you alone.

( if add wanted, he could kill them all easily, he's an entity that surpasses all humans, the thought makes komaeda scrape the claws against one another, just something to do on the side to keep himself busy. he stands up again, walking over to where add was, and he'll slump back in place against him, arm around his arm, and now his voice is just a whisper. )

You can turn your eyes away as much as you want, Add-kun. You know, I think as long as you have those memories, he'll always be there even if you can't see him.

( sight is such a beautiful thing, you can see someone smile, get angry, laugh, that's where you can truly see their expressions. now, people can become anyone, they can look different, but they'll be that person inside — even this arm that komaeda presses his cheek against as he cuddles doesn't have to be the same arm that he knows of. as long as in the end he's able to find add, that's more than enough, even if it's the one in his memories that he'll hold onto when the school is over. )

If you killed Ebalon-kun, would you always remember him? Even if you think of them as liabilities, it's because you don't want to lose them. Ahaha, isn't that right?
