JANUARY EVENT LOG
00:00 01/01
✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void
✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC
✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

Location: Principal's Office
Action: The squad is snooping around the PDA logs and seeing how many can be recovered and searched for clues! We've got one robot, one person with an near eidetic memory, and one person with... a very good if not eidetic memory so we're going to see how much useful information they can extract and retain from these four hundred years (holy shit) of logs.

Imagine everything in our forums this year, times maybe... 100, since it's not a complete record of everything with how old and falling apart the paper is
Are there any key words or specific points of interest they'd be looking out for, bc tbh it's 99.9999% junk
no subject
Definitely looking for
- things related to the fire/past school rules/kazuki's binding
- obvious and sudden shifts in the nature of the school in general
- noteable patterns and trends in general
- gaps in the record that aren't due to cabinets falling into the void i.e. we have a solid run of time but there's a strange absence in the middle
- the phrase 'keep your eyes open' or similar
- mention of yellow eyes
- things about how past graduations/exams functioned, including mention of perks
- prior school trips and their destinations
- anything about the generator or void
Basically trying to get a sense of the shifts in history of the place or anything that might give a clue on why or how this is currently happening.

the "no setting things on fire" rule pops up from time to time after 1517, but there aren't any direct quotes about school rules, just references like "LOL what's rule 4 about?" or "rule 10 is so stupid" or "does any1 know what happens if u break rule 58?"
Kazuki's binding isn't specifically mentioned, but scattered throughout the logs are students' frustrations about having to be quiet in the library and how they're not being allowed into the courtyard
the logs are all in chronological order and any gaps would be from cabinets missing in the void or the papers themselves being too old and falling apart to be read, otherwise they all seem to be accounted for
sometimes they'll find things like "wake up" or "open your eyes" or "look" or "see" but always in context of normal conversations that wouldn't have pinged as a key phrase unless they were looking for them specifically. These phrases tended to crop up near the beginning of the school years. Incidentally, mentions of strange things in general seem to be kept on the downlow towards the beginning of the year, possibly with the thought of "be careful of what you say on the forums bc anybody can read it" but becomes more liberal as the years goes on, sort of like "you know what? fuck it" They may also get the sense that there's a lot being said outside of the forums and most of the weird school talk is done in person, as direct pings to people tend to reference past conversations and nothing is really discussed on the forums. There are no direct mention of yellow eyes, presumably for the above reason too
There's a lot of exam whining throughout the year, waxing and waning in accordance to weekly quizzes and semester exams. math has always been hard, apparently, and it's a little hard to tell whether "i can't do this i'm going to die" should be taken at face value. They do see kinder years where the end of the school year is filled with congratulations and well wishes, and not so kind years where students seem to dread graduation or talk about it as something to get over with. There's some talk about graduates giving back to the school after they leave, as well as student council presidents "leaving a mark", but nothing explicit or any specific examples
Tokyo Disney appears to be a very popular school trip choice. Sometimes you just gotta escape the 1400s and take advantage of being able to travel to the future. Otherwise, places with shrines seem to be the next most popular choices
There are no mentions of a generator, but there are warnings about not bleeding and sending people to (the terms seem to vary from year to year) the Void, or the Abyss, or the Black Hole, the Emptiness, the Nothingness, the Sea, etc. Nothing useful about what makes it grow or shrink, also presumably bc it's a sensitive topic best discussed in person
overall, the general consensus of "what's going on????" seems to be "fuck if I know"

"what's going on???" "fuck if I know" very much a mood
I return from the chat with more questions to lay at your feet:
- If there's other NPC names we recognize, esp in connection to specific events like with Hikaru
- If there's PC names we recognize, and when they start cropping up if so
- I have the feeling these three would especially google themselves
- If there's any indicator of what tuition/compensation is
- Mentions of specific years in different years, which might act as pointers to significant events in those years
- Mentions of death/souls/wisteria beyond the offhand
- If there's any coded messages
- If there's signs of people arranging recurring group meetings, and the names connected to them
no subject
- they can spot pc names too, with the usual "wtf is going on" and food discourse and hangman, scattered throughout the years. Predictably, those with more tallies start showing up earlier than those with fewer
- there's nothing specific about tuition/compensation, death, souls, or the wisteria tree that they don't already know. there's more talk about everybody here being dead than there is about the wisteria tree, though, and there aren't important mentions of specific years outside of people saying what year it was before they woke up
- there are some coded messages, but of the "can anybody read this?" variety, and ends with asking whoever can read this to meet at a certain location to talk in person
- there are signs of people arranging recurring group meetings, including both familiar and unfamiliar names, meeting places are around the school but all held after 6PM. Overall for all the years, it's as if you took everything in the forum from this year and put it on repeat, the start is always people being scared and cryptic and confused, then they seem to learn more and messages get a little more comfortable and sillier, finals happen and people freak out over math, and the forum seems to be used less and less towards the end of the year. the next year there are new names with the same reactions

just a couple more, sorry Ori
- "do people who have one/started with one tally show up the year before? or do they show up seven years ago since nao said thats how long it takes for a soul to refresh" I.E. is the single tally the one from their canon/entrance death or their first death/kill in Yogen, I think?
- "ask if there's any period of time where a person with more than one tally shows up in the logs and then doesn't show up again for X amount of time" I.E. has the amount of time between when someone dies and when they return been changing, I think?
no subject
Time between people talking do vary, sometimes months apart and sometimes decades, but they would also be aware that not everybody uses the forums or they just lurk on them, so it's not the most accurate gauge of existence

Before we go, is there anything else of note left in the Principal's office apart from the PDA files? Other objects, other types of file?

No floorplans, they'll just have to draw one up themselves or ask somebody who's been here for hundreds of years and has been saying all year that they study architecture
