JANUARY EVENT LOG
00:00 01/01
✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void
✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC
✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

I agree.
[While her voice is serious, there's still that childish lilt to it, not bothering to switch into her other persona. Besides, she's Furude Rika here, a human girl; a first year in this high school. Not the witch.]
I'll grab my bag...
[The easy bake oven stays at her desk, however. If the void takes it, then that's that. She motions to do just that, putting the straps over her shoulders.]
I'm ready to go.
no subject
Okay. We should mind our step.
[At least Satou knows that exiting this room is safe, because she's already done it. She leads the way anyway, instinctively willing to sacrifice herself for a little sister. Briefly, her mind wanders and her mouth gets ahead of her thoughts;]
Do you think it was that tank of blood that crashed? It looked big enough to make a big noise...
no subject
[Even in the darkness of the school in the late hours of midnight, there's a keen determination in her voice. Of course, she keeps herself behind Satou, although she keeps a careful, sharp eye out in case there's anybody else - anything else - out there.]
Maybe... Although I don't know how a large tank of blood would cause this to happen.
[She doesn't know much about the school; nobody's really told her anything.]
no subject
Or perhaps what caused this also broke the tank... What else is there that might crash? A window?
[Would they feel a draft in that case? Satou glances towards the sky outside. It's too much of a coincidence for both the school and sky to go dark at once, isn't it?]
In any case, we should keep our eyes peeled for glass, ne?
no subject
[She pauses, tries to recollect what it looked like - it felt important, so she made sure to keep it in the back of her head.]
...a timer, right? Maybe it was like - a bomb, maybe?
no subject
[It doesn't sound super outlandish. Timers do often have bombs attached to them in fiction, after all. More and more, it seems likely that the crashing sound they heard was associated with that big tank of blood.]
That would make sense. Make it was somehow attached to the power... I wonder where we would go to check if the power supply got blown up. [Hmm.] For now, we need to find somewhere safe.
no subject
[It could be a trap of sorts. But thinking of that makes Rika feel a little melancholic, and she can't help but scrunch her brows in worry. She truly misses her friends, in moments like this.]
Mii. I think so, too. Although I wonder where would be safe.
no subject
Bah, Satou thinks to herself, If only I had my magic.]
The auditorium is the usual source of all... this, right? If we assume it's spreading, then we'd want to go in the opposite direction of there. Maybe the C classrooms are safer..?
no subject
[That's something that doesn't make sense to her. And it's just a specific, small part of the classroom, too. There has to be some sort of logical reason, something that she hasn't exactly figured out just yet.]
We should check the other classrooms, just in case.
no subject
Mm, let's do that... Do you remember anything specific being in that corner of the classroom?
no subject
[That wasn't something that was really important, or even pertinent to her at the time. But now that it's happened...]
I might know someone who might know, though. Although if she doesn't know, maybe someone else does.
[Someone who's been here longer.]
no subject
[At least, if they can get here. Satou hopes that nothing has happened in the dorms. Her stomach twists at the thought.]
How long have you been at this school, Rika-chan?
no subject
[That's an affirmative sound, to say the least; she doesn't know if the others are safe, but right now it's more important that they are the ones that are safe.
Then the question is raised.
How long has she been here?
Memories say that she's been here a while, outside of the constraints of 'awakening', of, well... remembering, but-]
Since the culture festival. That was in November.
[It's January now, isn't it? With it being past midnight and all.]
no subject
[At least, since she 'woke up' here. Satou still isn't sure what triggered that. Her memories prior to then are too hazy to hunt for details in.]
Well... It was a longshot anyway. But I was wondering if anything happened in this classroom that might have left an... impression.
[In her world, strong emotions can imprint an area with magical power. Satou wonders if the reason that part of the classroom is affected isn't because of a physical thing, but a magical one.]
I can't remember anything during the time I was here, though.
no subject
Mm... that's something that we can find out about later, at least. I hope.
no subject
[As they leave the staircase, Satou will pause to make note of the strange burns on the wall. She had almost instinctively put a hand on the wall for balance, but withdraws that hand when she sees its state. It feels like their once active school has been inactive for years, doesn't it?]
For now. Anything we see that feels different, let's speak up about it? There might be a clue in that.
no subject
This school already... feels different.
[Like she stepped from one place to another.]
I don't think that was there earlier. And I don't remember there being a fire. I would have heard or seen it too, from the classroom.
[But then again, that's something that she can't confirm one way or another right now; she knows nothing about any school fires, after all.]
no subject
[Satou considers how honest to be, then continues;]
I used to spend a lot of time in old and abandoned buildings. This place has that kind of vibe now. Has time actually passed..?
[No, that's ridiculous. She shakes her head.] Watch your feet, just in case. If the walls are like this, the floor might be bad too.
no subject
[Like a calendar. The chalkboards don't help given that they're the only ones in here, but something more tangible might be better.]
But instead of passing, maybe--
[...]
Maybe it's the other way around?
[Perhaps the school has gone to the past instead of the future. Nevertheless, she nods, making sure to look at the ground around her. There's something about watching her feet like this that's strangely... well, not necessarily nostalgic, but... there's a sense of familiarity there.
And maybe that's why she decides to echo Satou's footsteps as they continue to walk.]
no subject
[The school could have been renovated, it's true. Satou glances up and down the hallways, then gestures towards the classrooms.]
Want to check the classrooms to find out? Maybe someone wrote the date on a chalkboard..?
[Or they might find an old calendar. Satou remembers checking the publishing dates on books to confirm it was the 90s too. They could check if the books are still from that time.]
no subject
It's winter vacation still, so the dates might have been cleaned off already... but it doesn't hurt to check, I suppose.
no subject
[She can hope.
But Rika is right. Can't hurt to check.]
If it looks dangerous though, we'll turn back. I'd rather we see tomorrow than know when tomorrow is.
no subject
[Even though her tone keeps its usual tones of a child, something that she's used to... there's also something about it that tells another tale entirely; something tired, of something that is used to not seeing what tomorrow brings them.
But her serious expression soon fades into a smile.]
So let's fight on, Satou. Nipah~✩
no subject
But she wouldn't risk that kind of reason on anyone.
Plus, Rika just followed it up by being flawlessly adorable.]
Ha... hau... [A universe noise that means run,] Y, yes! Nipah! Nipa~h!
[Cured and distracted by the cute, Satou leads the way into one of the classrooms. She's looking for signs of the date and gradually comes to a conclusion.]
Nothing is printed in the 1990s. I think you might be right, Rika-chan.
no subject
She'd recognize that sound anywhere, although having it spoken by someone else that wasn't Rena is definitely a surprise. And having her 'nipah' repeated is... a bit embarrassing, even for her.]
M-Mii... I wonder why we're in the past, though.
