JANUARY EVENT LOG
00:00 01/01
✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void
✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC
✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

hi clamor please don't notice this
Whenever I had missions in the mountain or the woods, there was usually a safehouse or a location near it that I would stay in, and camp if there wasn't. But food and water were usually something I would bring along just in case.
[He reaches down and takes one of Noah's hands in his. It's for comfort, obiously.]
yell at me tomorrow to crop more blushing icons for noah bc of you
It makes sense. Avoiding starving is a good thing.
[Probably. He lets the conversation peter out there, just staring ahead at the forest in silence. It's a comfortable silence, at least to Noah it is, since he's never been good at keeping up a conversation.
Eventually, though, he murmurs,]
Did you ever see anything interesting on your missions? Anything out of the ordinary, or just... fun, I guess?
did you make more noah icons for the blush
[He hums in thought for a moment, staring out into the forest as he talks.]
We went to the beach as a group, and it was mostly to get them out of the classroom for the summer but there was demon activity that we were monitoring. Towards the end of the trip, the demon showed up finally. It was a Kraken, and we were all ready to take it down when... somehow one thing left to another where we discovered a whale that protected this area who had become rather fascinated with Shiemi, one of my students and Rin's friend.
[
I'm ngl I don't remember this part of the story all that well because it's been 75 years since I read it so like don't come after me]I ended up sniping the Kraken while Rin went out to fight it with a boat.
i have 2 more :)
A whale... I want a whale for a friend.
[How Cool would that be?]
I've never fought a kraken. I... mostly fought a lot of Henir mutants, made by the cult Clamor and I are after. [Pats Clamor on the handle.] It's not as fun as fighting a kraken or making friends with a whale. I guess it was never going to be, though. The most fun thing I think I saw were these little baby griffons called Derurung. They're really small and cute...
[Noah sits there and describes the Derurung to Yukio in way too much detail, like, a completely unnecessary amount of detail. They don't look like normal griffons after all, and besides that, they're too cute to not gush about.]
no subject
He was cute.
He suddenly remembered that Clamor was here and straightened up, clearing his throat a bit so he didn't seem like he was staring like a love-struck idiot that whole time.
Do not perceive him thanks.
Still, he did like listening to Noah talk about these things. It was new creatures and places he'd never get to visit or see, so it was interesting... and he wanted to know more about Noah.
So, win-win.]
There are these... little tiny demons, called Coal Tars, which are these little black fuzzy demons that float around in like humid and dark places. They're absolutely everywhere.
[He holds his hands out, cupping them together to form a little circle to show Noah just how big the Coal Tars actually were.]
no subject
Demons can be that tiny? Are they friendly?
[Something that's cute and small has to be friendly, right... that's how it works?]
Or do they attack in massive swarms like... bugs, I guess? [Pause.] Are they very smart? Do you feed them like pets?
[Noah please, he's an exorcist, why would he feed demons like pets.]
CLAMOR SAJHDAKJ
No, people don't feed them. They're kind of just floating around. Unless they're in a large cluster they don't tend to be dangerous. When they are in those clusters, though they tend to... basically swallow anything they can. They can mush together and act as a single hivemind in those clusters.
👁
[Noah's imagining a cloud of those arts and crafts fluffy balls flying around and sticking to buildings and then when they leave the building is just gone.]
I don't think we have anything like that, but I don't know. I haven't explored most of the world, so maybe those are out there... somewhere? Something like it. They still sound cute, though.
...
Elrios has giant man-eating crabs.
[Absolutely not the same thing.]
no subject
Yes.
Yukio covers his mouth with his hand, laughing into it so it was muffled and he could hide behind it.]
We have something similar, though the man-eating part is mostly collateral, and they're not demons.
no subject
[Famous Noah quotes now include "crabs are a problem".]
What are your man-eating not-demons?
[So that when he goes to fantasy Japan he can know ahead of time, y'know.]
CRABS ARE A PROBLEM
There are plenty of things that can kill or maim you. Most of the time it happens is usually because someone provokes them, though.
